Theirs is not an easy job and we truly appreciate their hustle and calm demeanor. We hope the other tourists are letting them know they are appreciated. When I travel, all I need from a hotel is a place to lay my head at night. But, this Embassy Suites hotel is like a home away from home. There's a kitchen with a refrigerator and a microwave. There's a room separate from the bedroom where annoying people like me who want to stay up late can watch TV without bothering people while they sleep. It's actually better than a home away from home. If I want breakfast at home, I have to make it myself. Here, they have an amazing breakfast buffet, with everything you can imagine: crispy bacon, biscuits and gravy, bagels, cereal, fruit...there's even a station where cooks prepare omelets to your liking. The only downside is that there's so much good food that I'm certain to gain weight after this trip. And, it gets better. Every day from 5:30 to 7:00, you get 2 free drinks at the bar. No, I'm not intoxicated and imagining this is true. There's a small upcharge for premium liquor, but you get 2 large pints of excellent Alaskan beer or 2 mixed drinks on the house. This also applies in the Territory restaurant in the hotel (see my separate review). Does Embassy Suites make any money? In case there's not enough free food and drinks here, the hotel is also across the street from a supermarket and excellent liquor store. It's a busy road, so make sure you don't have those 2 free drinks before you try to cross. And, the folks here are friendly and happy to talk and share photos (one server visited Australia, which is a relatively inexpensive flight from here). And, they have my favorite policy regarding housekeeping: upon request only. Whenever I get a hotel, the first thing I do is put the Do Not Disturb sign up. They save me the trouble here. I've fallen in love with Alaska, and may want to live here some day. With such welcoming accommodations here, though, I might just decide to stay here. read more

Nice hotel in Anchorage that offers a GREAT breakfast and a really nice complimentary wine happy hour. We stayed here 2 separate nights... once right before our tour started and then in the middle when we transitioned from our Denali/northern area trip down to Seward. (We took the really early AM dome train to Seward so we had to stay the night in Anchorage one night again.) Both stays were really nice. No complaints. Service was really good and the folks working were professional, nice, helpful. The rooms are consistent across Embassy Suites locations which is great because you know what you are going to get and you get it. What was really helpful was that they have a coin operated laundry room. We made use of this and the machines worked great. The dryer only took 1 round to get my stuff dry. Usually it takes 2 so this was surprisingly nice not to have to feed the machine more quarters. Note... it's 2.75 for wash and 2.75 for dry. The front counter can help you with exchanging cash for quarters. It's also very convenient that they have a good on-site restaurant in case you are too tired to venture out to eat. read more

This has become an old rundown hotel. The staff seems to do the best they can with what they've got but the breakfast area tables were dirty and the toaster did not work. No eggs on the continental breakfast. I could go on, but I do not recommend this place. Plus, it was very expensive $350 a night. read more

Booked a one night stay to get ready and leave on a cruise. We got in on our flight around 7 pm and our room was ready and waiting for us. The hotel is very nice, has an Alaskan lodge type feel. The room was clean and well appointed. The morning breakfast spread features chef prepared made to order omelets and French toast! They also have pastries, fruit, oatmeal, cereals, yogurt, a hot buffet and beverage bar. There is a relaxing fountain in the lobby. The hotel remains pretty quiet despite being full. I really liked our stay. Two beautiful spacious rooms. The beds are really comfortable. There is a microwave, fridge, two TV's I believe in every unit. Walking distance to the grocery stores, movie theater, 55 min walk to downtown. Cleaning ladies are very nice and friendly. Two things that I wasn't happy with: the strong smell coming from the kitchen. One night, around 3:30 am some drunk or high on drugs guy was trying to get into the hotel from the back door and I think he threw a rock , since the glass door was almost broken. Not sure what was happening, but the police was here within minutes. read more

Embassy suites is always a delight to stay at and this location is no exception!! The rooms were spacious and had blackout curtains that were truly some of the best blackout curtains I've ever seen/used! This would be a huge dealbreaker for me during some of the seasons in Alaska. The bed was soft and comfortable, and the microwave had plenty of space for leftovers. Embassy suites typically does a happy hour from 5:30-7:30 and they did host it here, as well as breakfast in the mornings. The made to order dinner was fabulous and did offer a room service option. We decided to stay at embassy suites because they're usually the same when it comes to their hotels. The location isn't great but it's not like it's too hard or far to drive anywhere in town. There's a few restaurants and grocery stores in the area. The elevators all have hand sanitizer inside. They also DO NOT clean your room each day but will quickly bring up anything you need in your room such as toilet paper, coffee, towels, etc. They still had a hot breakfast but there is no self serve. Everything you want(even cereal or fruit) has to be given to you by someone working in the kitchen. It did cause longer lines but at least there's any hot breakfast at this point in time. The happy hour has been halted but they still offer you wine or beer for purchase, which we skipped. As for the gym they only allow 3 people at a time and you must sign in at the front desk and they will let you inside. There was usually no one inside anyway. The room was descent, it was kinda small but there was plenty of room for suitcases and clothes. Aside from no happy hour, I can't complain too much. read more

In planning our recent trip to Alaska, we decided to spend 2 nights in Anchorage on the front end and 2 nights in Fairbanks on the back. In between was the Alaska Railroad which would take use to Seward, back to Anchorage, onwards to Denali, and then ending in Fairbanks. As I had 2 free Hilton Hhonors nights on my account, I picked this Embassy Suites for our stay. Note: there's a Hilton in Downtown Anchorage that is an easy walk down hill to the Train station. However, I had COVID restrictions on my mind when I made this reservation months ago, and let's just say that the Suites arrangement was the way to go. This Embassy Suites is a huge property and located in the very plain Midtown area. Downtown is a 2 mile walk (which we did). Oure Suite was a little smaller than expected, but it was very comfortable and met our needs well. This chain's full hot breakfast was almost back to full service (e.g., they serve you - no buffet) and the "Manager's Reception" was back with a nice beer and wine selection, albeit limited snacks. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, particularly with answering local tourist questions, handling the cab voucher from the airport and arranging the taxi to the train station a couple mornings later. read more

I will start with, "What the living heck?" On our last night in Alaska, we decided to stay in an Anchorage hotel, so we could be close to the airport. After hours of searching, I could only find one hotel available that had 2 bedrooms, Embassy Suites. Read the reviews and for over $400, I thought it would be okay for one night. I would have been more than fine with it being just okay. However, it was not. After a tiring 4 hour drive through snow and ice we finally arrived. Check In: There was only one attendant and I patiently waited my turn. She dismissively told me that our room was not ready yet. It was almost a few hours pass check in time. I asked her if she could give me an estimate on when it should be ready. She seemed annoyed, but called housekeeping on her walkie talkie and the room was actually ready. Yay! Room: Our suite had a clear view of a wall, the wall had snow on it, so good enough. My husband, teenager and I decided to shower and find dinner. The towels under the sink were soaked due to a leak under the sink. I called the front desk. She said she would send maintenance and some towels up. My husband yelled "get shampoo, the dispenser is empty". She said someone would be up shortly. After 30 minutes passed, I decided that I would just walk downstairs and grab towels and shampoo. The attendant gives me a stack of folded white "towels" and some shampoo. I go back upstairs and instead of towels, she gave me bath mats. But we had shampoo! We just dealt with it and eventually, housekeeping did come and drop off one towel and more bath mats. We never saw maintenance. We were exhausted and ordered food delivery. I put the leftovers in the fridge for breakfast and we went to bed. However, no sleep for us because there were people yelling and running above us and through the halls. We could hear everything like we and the other hotel guests were all sharing one big room. We streamed a movie on my iPad hoping things would quieten eventually, but 3 hours later still noisy as heck. My husband called the front desk and asked if they could ask the people in the room above us to stop yelling and that helped, but people were in that hall yapping all night. Also, our sheets had a lot of static electricity. Every time we moved in the sheets, there would be a snap and spark of blue light. After waking up and not getting much sleep, I decided to heat up our leftovers. I opened the refrigerator and it was warm. The refrigerator was broken. Over $100 of food wasted! - Not happy ES! Went to heat my husband a roll, the microwave was broken. My daughter and I decided to go downstairs and have breakfast, maybe that would make me feel better about the expensive delivery food I just had to throw away. Free Breakfast - we arrived for breakfast around 10:30. There were two lines. A very long line for omelets, French toast and pancakes. And a shorter line for continental type foods. We stood in the long line to get French toast before my daughter gave up and decided to settle for eggs and bacon at the other station. She came back and said that there were no plates. I told her to hunt someone down and ask for a plate. She left and came back and said she couldn't catch anyone, so I had her hold my place in line while I went to find her a plate. She was right, there were no plates to be found. I finally saw someone put down around 5 plates and it was like Black Friday. I felt very accomplished walking away with a plate. She fixed her plate and then told me that there was no silverware. I again got out of line and searched. I ended finding a spoon and I told her to make it work. She had her meal and I was still waiting in the French toast line. I asked her to go to the soda fountain and grab me a Diet Coke, she came back and told me that it was out of order. I told her that I would settle for an OJ, she came back and told me they were out. Again, I had her hold my place in line while I go check and yes, they are out and I settle for water. After about 30 minutes, it was finally my turn to order. One French toast please! They are out of bread, no more French Toast. I settle for an omelet. I then proceed to the other food station, but they are out of many things. I hear someone ask if they were going to bring out more food and they said no. I finally sit down to have my omelet and they turn the lights out. Breakfast was over and I was over it, so I grabbed an apple and went back to our room. Please note that though these are suites, there are no utensils, paper towels, plates or anything of dining convenience in these rooms. There wasn't even a bottle of water. I travel ALOT and I have never been to a hotel room that did not have at least a bottle of water. Maybe this is standard for Embassy Suites? read more

I have now stayed here multiple times and each time I am disappointed... 1-Staff is generally nice and helpful. 2-Completely Overpriced $$$ 3- Outdated 4-Poor water pressure in shower 5- No maid service unless requested 24 hours in advance despite being way over priced. 6-Food in restaurant is totally mediocre however staff is very friendly. 7- Free happy hour every night and again bartenders are usually very great. 8- Noise is crazy in the room I stayed in literally felt like you were on the freeway all night. 9-Walking distance to shopping and restaurants was a big plus. 10- Overall just a mediocre experience and won't be back...I know there are limited options in Anchorage but with some of the newer hotels I would recommend those over this one. read more

Our son wanted a staycation for his birthday. So my husband booked a suite here. Checking in was easy and quick. For a temporary time they were not charging a parking fee so that was nice. Our two bedroom suite was very nice, clean and deco was pretty up to date. We noticed that both rooms had just one king size bed, and my husband had actually booked one with a king size bed, and another one with two beds. But we didn't feel it was a big deal. We went downstairs to the restaurant The Territory. The menu was very limited, but overall it was pretty good. There was quite a few people and there was only one waitress that was working in. Surprisingly she did an amazing job at keeping everything going and getting food out to everybody that was there the restaurant. From 5:30pm-7:30pm the have a complimentary cocktails/beer and snacks (1 per guest) which was really nice. Now their complimentary breakfast was really awesome. Omelette bar, your choice of pancakes or French toast. Bagels, muffins, oatmeal, variety of yogurts, biscuits and gravy, sausages and bacon, cereal bar, juices, sodas and coffee. The pool area was really nice their was your regular pool and a separate warming pool. Towels were provided. The kids had a very good time. read more

We came to Anchorage to attend some family events....not go fishing like I think most of the people on the plane were going to do! I was very pleased to see Anchorage had an Embassy Suites, which I quickly booked months ago. The trip to the Airport to the Suites was rather quick. Easy to find. We are a bit early (noon and check-in wasn't until 3)so we headed out to lunch. After a bit the hotel staff texted us when are room was ready and we headed back to the hotel. We received our keycard and headed to our suite. It was a suite that you would expect from Embassy Suites. I've had larger and I've had smaller.....however, the layout was very similar with a desk, mini fridge, micro, a sitting room, and a bedroom. Very comfortable. Room was very quiet....really couldn't hear much from the outside at all save one ambulance driving by. Sadly I never made it to the Managers Social the five nights we were there. However, we did do the breakfast. I am pleased to say that this Embassy Suites knows how to make omelets. We need to send this cook to Scottsdale to train those guys down there (as I am there many times a year)!!!! Omelets, pancakes, french toast were all made custom and were delicious. The other items on the buffet were good too. Front desk staff were nice and friendly. The breakfast staff were super great and attentive. I travel all over and consider myself a low maintenance type of person...if the place has a comfortable bed that's what I want...everything else is a bonus! Lots of Bonuses here! Here in Anchorage the Embassy Suites is distinctly a cut above the average Embassy Suites. We're Diamond so we stay at a lot of Hilton family properties... Most recently at the Anchorage Hilton. Here at the ES Anchorage the property is expansive. Not the usual with the huge atrium but nicely appointed dining area, library will Billard table and spacious rooms. It's about 75% bigger than the smaller ES suites. I have to highlight the cook in the breakfast area: a cheerful Chinese lady who is named Cheruy or something that. Our omlettes were sizable and cooked right... She makes 3 kinds of pancakes.... Plus custom requests were cheerfully handled with efficiency and expert cooking. Wow! It was my wife's 40th birthday and I wanted to treat her out on the town. With all the quality hotels in Anchorage we could have chosen, we decided to stay at Embassy Suites Anchorage, (didn't book the cheap room either). As we were checking in, the manager on duty, was extremely rude to us and just wanted to argue over virtually nothing that mattered really. I asked him kindly to stop digging us but this guy wouldn't leave it alone giving me a brow beating lesson on how wrong I am and how smart and right he was. My wife and I were shocked and honestly embarrassed that this guy would not let it go after the three times that we asked him to please stop, making a total scene. We were harassed by the managers rude behavior and extreme negativity towards customers which is totally unbelievable. I wanted to turn around and leave and go somewhere else but my wife didn't want the scene to escalate any further. So of course I yielded to her birthday wishes but thinking in my mind why did I spend my hard earned money at the Embassy Suites when I should have booked at the Captian Cook.....oh well next time right!. read more

This is a great hotel to start an Alaska vacation. It's not too far from the airport, so it is comfortable after a long haul (I don't know about most people, but I had no appreciation for how far Anchorage is - a 3.5-hour flight from Seattle). The hotel is spacious and has a nice bar area. The poor bartender kept trying to do "last call," but it was still bright as day at 11:00 and no one wanted to go to bed. Thankfully, the room had the darkening shades on the windows, so we could pretend it was dark out and get a little sleep. They offer made-to-order complimentary breakfast and the customer service is excellent. You can't really walk anywhere from the hotel, but it's only about a 10-minute drive to some good restaurants. read more

This is a really nice well maintained facility. Bath supplies were a notch above the Marriott group and the suite size was really good. Clean kitchen with clean cooking and silver ware. The sitting area and the bedroom were both spacious. The fitness center was well attended and they had both Swim pool and a whirlpool. Breakfast was also above average as it has an omelette bar- though the country fries were dry and hard. No problem finding a table to sit (at least during weekday breakfast). This is a great hotel! It feels high end, has spacious rooms, comfortable beds and even provides laundry for $6 per load. The pool and hot tub are great too. The front desk staff, especially Easter are extremely nice and helpful. They were the friendliest and most helpful people ever! There is a complimentary happy hour for 2 free drinks from 5:30-7:30 but the bartender is awfully rude and unprofessional. I am not sure if she was having a bad day but she was annoyed that we ordered non alcoholic drinks during happy hour and she yelled at me for walking into the "no drinking zone" with an empty alcoholic drink glass. She seems to hate her job or maybe she hates hotel guests but we talked to management because our experience was really great at the hotel. Daniel from sales was able to help and was very receptive to our concerns and ensured we got everything else we needed and apologized for the bartender's behavior. The hotel restaurant staff was also extremely kind and helped keep our experience a positive one. We had a fabulous experience staying at the Embassy Suites in Anchorage. Upon arrival you are greeted by a spacious lobby with styled decor far above its Hilton counterparts. The fountain in the center of the lobby really makes the place seem even more grand yet serene, and is a 5/5 for first impressions. The check-in process was seamless, and she did a great job of explaining to us where our room would be once wr got off the elevator & the timeframe for breakfast the next morning. *note we did not arrive from 5-7 pm to enjoy the complimentary guest reception. Our room was a spacious two bedroom king suite that was very clean and contained all the necessary amenities. There was a ton of drawer and closet storage, more than I am accustomed to seeing in hotels. The bedding was soft & came with multiple pillow types - which is such an underrated amenity. If you're choosing between Hilton properties in Anchorage, I would be willing to say this is truly your best option! Not because I've seen all the other properties, but because this hotel is SO nice, clean, well-styled & up-to-date. read more

I'm not a big Yelper and only review a place if it's either really good or really bad. Well, I gave it 5 stars so... Long story short I got upgraded even though I checked in a day early. To say thanks, I got them a loaf of bread from the bakery across the street as they had recommended the place to me for lunch and raved about the bread. When I returned later that day after having left the loaf, they had said thank you for my thank you with a basket of snacks and a souvenir. Didn't have to. Didn't make any money. I loved the room and all the amenities. It was clean and well stocked. Loved the two different TVs in the suite (kept my daughter quiet and gave me and my husband some time alone). The only negative regarding the room, were the pillows! Too small! For a king size bed, I was expected king size (or at the least, queen size) pillows! I had to use three to get comfortable. All-in-all, it was one of the best stays in Alaska. Restaurant: over-priced dinner menu! The breakfast was good, both the made-to-order food and the buffet, but the dinner menu?! No way Jose! $26 for a NY steak that is smothered in sauce with mash that seemed off colored? A good steak doesn't need sauce, leave it for the sirloins or leaner ones. read more

Visited for three days in mid July on our honeymoon. we took the free shuttle from the airport. Shuttle: The shuttle was badly damaged (broken windshield, torn interior, and rust) and the shuttle bus driver made several passes before finally heading to the hotel. It took about an hour from the airport to the hotel due to multiple passes. Checkin: Once we arrive at the hotel, our experience took a turn for the better....way way better. Front desk staff was efficient and quickly checked us in. Room: Our room (king suite) was impeccably clean, and filled with several special touches to start our honeymoon. We found a welcome basket with some snacks and sweets, a hand made welcome card with a ruby heart of sequins, and a beautiful towel shaped into a standing heart with rose petals all over on our bed. Wow! Brittany from the front desk really made our room perfect with these special touches! Manager Reception: The managers reception is great! You need to show your ID to the bar tender, and you get 2 drink coupons good from 5pm-10:30pm. Drinks include a standard assortment of well liquor, and several Great local beers including Alaskan Amber Ale, IPA, White, and the seasonal was summer. I tried them all, and they were great! The bar tender, Dexter, was very attentive and knowledgeable about both drinks AND the restaurant menu. The free appatizer was assorted cheese and crackers, vegetables and ranch, and a variety of salt items such as chips and salsa, pretzels, and snack mix. The selection stayed the same each night we were there. Breakfast: What a spread! You can have cooked to order omlets, pancakes, and potato hash, or you can go to the hot buffet with potatoes, waffles/french toast, bacon/ham/sausage, scrambled/cheese eggs, and country biscuits with gravy. Additionally, an assortment of fruits, cereals, breads/pastries, and beverages are avaliable. Wait staff is courteous, and the made to order chef embodies all that is Alaska with her flair and delicious delights. Business center: Great! Multiple computers, stapler, tape, scissor, and unlimited printing. Perfect for a light day of work. Checkout: When we checked out, the shuttle bus driver was missing, so the front desk manager, Cyrus, went above and beyond and paid for a taxi to pick us up. The checkout process and taxi pickup went quickly and easily. Overall, great hotel with top shelf staff who demonstrate their attention to detail and commitment to superior service with every action. Only low point is the shuttle bus, but that is as easy as a new/updated vehicle and some empliyee training about getting guests to/from airport more efficiently. If it wasn't for the horrible cost for a night (but that seems par for the course), I would rate them a 5 star hotel. But $400 a night, seems a tad high. I only wanted to rent the room, not buy it. It is a nice, newer hotel, but Geez, it is like being in the French Foreign Legion if you get a room out at the end of the main wing. March or die in the hallway after getting out of the elevator. Stay with my daughter for 2 nights. The mirrors and pictures did not look like they had been cleaned in months you could see hand prints and dust so don't know how they was disaffecting for Covid. The people above us was up all night keep waking us up. Spoke with the person next to us and they could hear them and they said they told the front desk that was the after the 1st night. 2nd night same thing again. Next morning checked out and spoke with the clerk and said we would never stay there again she said "awww that's to bad." When we arrived in Anchorage we took our car to the car wash to get the mud off. There parking lot at the hotel was full of gravel you could not see the lines after the first night when we woke up my car was covered in dust from everyone driving around stirring up the dust and to top it off I found rocks on top of my car. We stayed here for a night while in Anchorage. The hotel was nice and spacious. The front desk service was nice. There was plenty of parking. A little pricey. Happy hour was fine but only 2 drinks? The breakfast was spot on in the morning. The pool had a nice area as well with a hot tub. No real issues and a quality stay. read more

Great hotel, but not the best Embassy I've stayed at. Pros: Nice rooms. You can cram 6 people here legitly since there's 2 queens and a pull out sofa. Manager's happy hour nice free breakfast with omelets, bacon, eggs, and more Free parking Cons: Happy hour is only a limit of 2 drinks per person and they're incredibly strict on that. They asked my 65 yr old dad for his ID, and wouldn't serve him, but I think it's more AK law than anything else. Happy hour appetizers on the weekend only consisted of cheese and crackers with some veggies (broccoli, peppers, carrots). read more

Just held our holiday party at the place and received countless compliments on the choice of venue. Appetizers were over the top, seafood was fresh and outstanding, food for main meal was tasty although out presented by appetizers, bar was well stocked and friendly, and the rooms were great. When we went for a pre-planning site visit, staff was informative and full of great suggestions. They made it easy enough that I was almost nervous there weren't paying enough attention to detail. They delivered on all levels. We will be back! read more
