What a nice place to stay for a few days! We were very impressed with the location around the float plane lake. All the employees here are super friendly! We had a really long drive on 5/15/2026, and checked in around 6 pm and Eurina L, was pleasant and friendly, and made us feel welcome! While I had booked my room through a third- party company, she found our reservation and was able to change us from a king bed to two double beds. That's great customer service. She even asked us what floor we would like to be on. I think she could see how tired we were from driving, so she gave us a nice room on the1st floor which was very convenient - since we knew we would be coming and going from our truck to our room. She made a great choice.. we were close to our vehicle so we didn't have to walk far to unpack our vehicle. Our room was cozy with a heater and an air conditioner. The beds were comfortable and there was great water pressure for the shower. Thank you to Eurina for making our evening welcoming and enjoyable. A second shout out to Boyd, at breakfast. Boyd was busy giving all the patrons their requests. I only saw him at breakfast and he was working hard but he was still friendly and helpful. He actually cared you could tell, that we got exactly what we needed for breakfast. The fruit was great and the hot meal was tasty. Thank you to both Eurina and Boyd for the hospitality. This rating makes me sad because this hotel has so much potential! It has a gorgeous location on the lake. I can see how this would have been a 5 star hotel about 20 years ago. Unfortunately everything is a bit outdated and musty here. There was a strange smell throughout the hotel at all times. The lobby is large and beautifully decorated, very on brand for Alaska. My room was decently clean, but smelled horrible. And I mean horrible. I do have a cat so I stayed in a pet friendly room, however it smelled like a wet dog lay all over the beds and no one cleaned it. I had to keep the window open my entire stay for my own survival. The staff was very nice! That's the biggest plus in this hotel. They are also have two restaurants and a coffee bar so you don't have to travel far for a quick meal. read more

Legitimately one of the worst value for money hotels I've ever stayed at and I've been in seedy hotels in Cincinnati. For the price, this is an absolute steal- meaning the owners of this hotel are stealing your money if you stay here. 1. The smell in the hotel rotated from smoke from cigarettes to urine depending on the time of day 2. Our room had crusty stains behind the toilet, a non functioning window which is stuck in the open position (did I mention we are next to the airport so those 7am low flying aircraft make for a great alarm clock, there is no cleaning service unless you specifically ask for it, the room is mind bogglingly hot for it being in Alaska and the window AC units only seem to spit out lukewarm air. The pillows were decent though. 3. The hallways are, not a lie, straight out of the back rooms or the shining. A labyrinth of twists and turns on fifty year old carpet that hasn't been cleaned since Reagan was in office awaits you on your stay. Just try to get a room near the elevator to save yourself ten minutes of walking the hallways and experiencing the smell that lingers from each fiber if the carpet. Do not stay here. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights. First two were in a hot room and an AC that didn't work, and unfortunately, was on the first floor so didn't want to open the window for safety reasons. The third night, before we left AK, the room had a working AC. Good becuase again, we were on the first floor. Nice bar, good selection of drinks, had supper there the last night we were in town. Food was good. Other than the AC issues, the rooms were clean. Did like that the toilet/shower was separated from the sink. Loved the 10 minute commute to the Airport from this location. read more

This historical looking hotel was a great place for meeting. I remember all I could think of while at the conference room looking outside for the view was how I wish I was on that body of water enjoying the fun water activity! WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT. I am currently staying here, and the service has been extremely HORRIBLE The TV in our room did not work. The staff member who came to fix it took about 1.5 hours. I explained that we were on vacation and had plans to leave, but he responded, "I don't work here after 2 PM." That is not a guest's problem. If a staff member's shift ends, the hotel should have someone else available to complete the work. After I was assertive, the TV was finally fixed. The shampoo bottle in the bathroom was completely empty. It makes me wonder what is actually checked when rooms are prepared for new guests. Housekeeping has been even worse. I left multiple messages in the morning requesting room service and also reminded a staff member in person before leaving for the day. We returned over six hours later to find that our room had still not been cleaned. When I called the front desk, I was told, "We'll send someone soon, but we don't know when because housekeeping is very busy." After waiting another two hours, I called again and received the exact same response. That is simply unacceptable for a hotel charging premium rates. OMG...??? Why didn't I believe the reviews? Property is in need of a full restoration. Top to bottom side to side the only thing positive I can say is that the bartenders tried really hard. From filthy,dirty, dusty, floors to the curtains, towels, displays in the lobby. Take the advice and look elsewhere. Many lights/TV/outlets throughout the property didn't work. No TV for us tonight... Definitely ok to drink at the bar but don't bother to order food. Both the beef and salmon were way over cooked and took 45 mins to arrive. $40.00 plate of salmon cooked to shoeleather! I could go on and on but from the min we were picked up at the train station, in the pouring rain, where the driver did not say a single word to us, didn't help is w our bags or even close the van door, to the front desk gal at almost midnight who would not give us extra coffee. We fell for the outdated or AI pictures on line. Bad us to pay this much and regret most of it. Note to manager: you may not be able to trigger a renovation but you certainly can train your staff to be nice to the customers & clean the common areas. Don't believe the photo gallery. Pros: rooms are a decent size. Free WIFI Free shuttle to/from downtown and the airport. Cons: the place is filthy. The carpet look like and smells like the original carpet, filthy with dust along the baseboard and corners. The restaurant with the bar smells like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Smells like old grease and looks dirty. There is no spa. The fitness center has old equipment that hasn't been serviced in years. There is self laundry however it is advertised that the cost is $2.50, more like $8.00. The machines weigh the laundry and price accordingly. We called ahead for early check in and were advised that it shouldn't be a problem however when we arrived the surly front desk clerk advised us that we would have to pay $50.00. There were people waiting in the lobby, not sure of the reason. One was sleeping on the sofa with his shoes off and on the sofa. You have to request maid service by 7:00 PM the evening before. If you have a room with lake views, beware you could hear planes taking off from Anchorage Airport as well as the seaplanes. 2026.01.19 UPDATED 1-star to a 2-star: So after staying there it got a little better. The woman on the night shift was apologetic for the phone issues (though it's a Millennium issue, as she doesn't have control over getting them fixed). She offered us 2-vouchers for breakfast and waived the resort fee (whatever that is for...this is not a resort even if you squint), so glad to not have to pay that. Hotel: it's a bit worn, hallway carpet is pretty worn; the hallway walls, it's obvious if you know where to look (hint the loose wallpaper bubbles) that there was originally wallpaper that was then painted over w/a high gloss paint to give it a face lift and a bit more life. There was a shuttle...it was just parked at the hotel. I would think they'd watch the incoming flights and try to bet at the airport particularity when they have late check-ins on the books. Oddly the rooms are numbered in the 1000's...for the 1st floor, it was confusing b/c we went into the elevator then realized there were only 3-floors; oh and if you have a room in the 1050-1060's...it'll be a walk...it's a loooong hotel, though there is a 2nd entrance that you can use to shorten the walk from the parking lot. Room: big and spacious, and on a positive note the bed is comfortable (not stiff like many hotels, even upper brands) and the pillows were soft, so we had a decent nights sleep. The bed 'could' use a heavier comforter being in Alaska (cold!), the one they had was move of an early autumn thickness. The rooms is kinda cold so keep the heat on 68-70 b/c there's a window A/C w/ no insulation or even a cover one it, and the only thing between the cold 10deg Alaskan air leaking is is a heavy curtain...fortunately the bed is a good 5' from the window. The sink faucet was very loose, like is this gonna leak loose. There also was a broken reading light on the headboard w/ wires somewhat exposed that could become an electrical hazard. The door had an undercut that allowed the hallway light in like it was a small spotlight b/c it's directly in line of the bed (for the sleeper on the left). Safety-wise that undercut is not good, if there was a fire in the room the smoke would get pulled into that hallway, and if a fire in the hallway then it'd get pulled into the room...not good, the doors should seal. Breakfast buffet: food was fine and fresh (the maple bacon was awesome)...it's a basic offering: scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, waffles, breakfast potatoes, oatmeal, toast/muffins, juice and coffee is served in 16oz cups so plenty to drink; staff is friendly. 2026.01.11 Well...we booked a couple nights through Chase Travel Portal using points. We chose this as it is very close to the airport, rooms looked good and and a place to eat on-site, *AND* b/c we were coming in with on a red-eye and they state they have a 14hr airport shuttle. Yeaaaaa that's not true...and on top of that when calling to find out how/where to get it you just go to voicemail or the line is busy. So we got a Lyft instead. Son't stay here if you need a shuttle at 1am or need to call them in the wee hours for any reason. read more

I could see how this hotel might have been nice back in the day, but could use a major face lift now. It smells a little musty upon walking into the lobby and shows its age all the way to the rooms. Overnight stay for an early flight. I know the Lakefront is showing its age a little but all in all it was a great value for the money, staff were super helpful and my room was spotless. A lot of little things like offering a couple bottles of water at check in, the airport shuttle and a check in by staff to make sure I was satisfied with the room were impressive. We liked the room. It had an old school spring type mattress which was very comfortable. It was cozy and well insulated so we were never cold. We enjoyed breakfast downstairs one day and would have gone back but there were so many options nearby that we were not able to. We arrived early and were able to check in early. It was on the expensive side but so was everything in the area. The parking lot was treacherously icy but that seems the norm around here. We requested a lake view and basically overlooked a construction site. So...it was expensive and basically fine but if you're looking for seamless luxury you might look downtown. read more

This hotel needs major renovations! The rooms smell musty and mildewy. The room felt dirty. It doesn't have central air conditioning. It had a window unit that made a horrible noise all night. I have written and called the Lakefront Anchorage hotel regarding an excessive charge during my stay when my flight was canceled. I have not been able to resolve this issue. I have also sent a letter to their Corporate Headquarters but no response. I was charged $1,170.40 for a one-night stay, a rate far above the standard rates of $450-$600 per night as it states on their website. I believe this pricing was unjustified and inflated and took advantage of a vulnerable situation. I will never stay there again, please stay away from this hotel. read more

After I checked out something told me to check my credit card, they charged $681.20 for two nights. I called and was given the run around. The one person Chris tried to help with no prevail. If taxidermy is how you roll you're going to love The Lakefront Anchorage hotel. I imagine a time when this hotel was the crème de la crème example of luxury. Rich dark wood, open common spaces, examples of wildlife throughout. Quintessential Alaska in a way that's almost shoved down your throat...tacky kitsch is evident. Suitable for an overnight stay if you can get past the small details of wear and tear: chipped furniture, carpet stains, tired and dusty displays, corners in desperate need of some elbow grease. Lakefront doesn't necessarily mean "lake view", likely another couple hundred dollars to see water from your room, but I'm not certain a view of the lake would change my opinion. Service good enough, restaurant food won't blow your hair back. It rained on our visit which actually helped the colors outdoors pop to life - probably spring time would be lovely. In better weather a stroll on the deck and a glass of something delicious would have kicked up the visit. After a long flight and an early train the following morning this airport hotel was good enough for overnight and a meal. read more

Update: on two different occasions I've asked where the gym is and if they have any microwaves to heat up left overs. Two different staff told me the wrong location, which if okay cause it happens but if you work somewhere you should know or go find the answers. Finding the gym took more than 10mins because I wasn't told to take a different elevator, HOWEVER this lovely staff I asked for help when I was lost walked me over to the gym which I really appreciated she was so sweet. The gym was on the 3rd floor. I went on the third floor and couldn't find it because it was hidden I ran into one of the cleaning lady and she said it was on the 4th floor so when I was on the 4th floor that's when I ran to that wonderful staff who directed me to the correct place. My room was on the 1sf floor. Part two: I asked the receptionist (short Asian woman with makeup and fake lashes) about the Microwave; she seemed annoyed when I approached the desk and said it was on the 2nd floor. I proceeded to the second floor and walked for about 10 minutes and wasn't able to find it.. I ran into one of the guests twice as I was walking and he directed me to the one of the staff on that floor. I told her (staff) I was looking for a microwave to heat my leftovers because the receptionist told me the microwave was on the second floor. The staff proceeds to ask me if I'm staying at the hotel..... And I look at her to say why would I be in here asking for a microwave if I wasn't staying there. She told me there isn't a microwave anywhere in a hotel (with 248 rooms) Then she says I'll just take you to break room and you can heat it up. At this point I was over it because she was being passive. She asked me what I did for work and I told her and thats when she started to treat me differently and was sort off apologetic... And I didn't say anything. The last thing she said to me was "I'm sorry we disappointed you" she can kick rocks with open toe shoes. I'm really grateful for the bartender, she was nice and the other staff who went out of there way to be help off. I would never stay here again though and I'll tell my colleagues the same. read more

The kitschy decor of the hotel felt right even if it was a little much. This place had the air of a hotel that used to be really nice. The leather chairs in the lobby were cracked and faded. The walls were scuffed along the room corridors. The rooms have window units and our kept blowing the fuse in the plug and having to be reset. The decor was dated, tired, and dusty. We had breakfast at their restaurant, The Flying Machine, which was truly awful. We paid $27/person for cold, generic, poorly prepared food. Interesting place to stay for sure. We stayed for two evenings. The lodge appears in need of updating in which I think they are. Rooms were not as clean as I would have hoped being that there was hair in the bathtub area when we entered the room. The room was not serviced during the second day so I needed to go find towels for the evening. This hotel is in the middle of a remodel (I hope). There was wall paper removed from the entire floor we were on, very old carpet, and the whole place just felt dirty and smelled. Avoid Booking Directly - Hidden Fees & Poor Customer Service I would not recommend booking anything at The Lakefront Anchorage if you call the number listed on their website. Instead of speaking with hotel staff, you're routed to a generic call center where the representatives are difficult to understand. They claim to offer the best rates, quoting me $138 per night, which seemed like a good deal at first. However, they later tacked on an extra $114 in "taxes and fees"--excluding the resort fee that this place already charges. Due to the language barrier, I misunderstood the total cost. I initially thought I was agreeing to $301, which I was fine with, but the confirmation email showed $391. I called back within five minutes to cancel, only to be told there was a $306 cancellation fee--almost the price of the entire stay! Before calling, I had already checked rates elsewhere since I was told they offer slope rates if you call them. Tho I had already found the same room on another booking platform for $157 per night, totaling $314 after taxes and fees, plus $22.50 per night in resort fees--significantly cheaper than what I was charged.. The only reason I'm giving 1 star instead of 0 is that the hotel itself might be decent, but the booking process was a nightmare. Definitely won't be recommending this place. read more

Once we checked in, we checked the room for the usual, cleanliness and critters. We found the bed closest to the door to have an extremely dirty pillow, I'll attach below. The mattress cover had some squishy brown stuff. Could be chocolate, poop, food, who knows. We're now in 2003, two out of the four towels have some kind of stain on it that's stiff and yellow ish. Have it put to the side as proof. Makes us think nothing gets cleaned between uses. Was also charged an extra 200 dollars. Would like that money back. read more

On a 17 night trip to Alaska this was the worst hotel we stayed at. While it calls itself The Lakefront, none of the rooms have views of the lake and the only place you can see the lake is from outside the back of the hotel or a few tables in the restaurant. That restaurant had a terrible breakfast and untrained waitstaff. The decor is very dated consisting mostly of taxidermy dead animals and hunting rifles. It is also dark. The hotel is expensive when taking into account the hidden fees which make the rate significantly higher than advertised. The location is remote from downtown where the Alaska Museum is located as well as many of the good restaurants and cafes in Anchorage. While they did have a shuttle that picked us up at the train or dropped off at the airport and downtown, to get anywhere else one has to take an Uber. They had one person at the front desk, both at checkin and checkout, and she was also answering the phones both times causing long long lines to check in and checkout. Worse yet is the hotel screwed up our reservation so we had to pay again to check in then get them to reverse the charge which had been paid through Rail bookers. We checked out and found a much nicer hotel for our second night, The Snob Hill Inn near downtown, the coastal trail and 49th State Brewery, which were all great and that hotel was much less money in a far better location. read more

The walls are covered with stuffed animals and there are several stuffed animals on display through the lobby. If you are a hunter then this would be a trophy kill wonderland. The lobby area is hunting lodge kind of vibe with lounge chairs, lots of wood trimming and paneling. I saw alot of people kind of hanging out in the lobby for a plane to take them to their hunting spot or some other place. There is a lake right out the back door where you can watch sea planes take off and land non stop. I was told this is the busiest seaplane airport in the country, maybe the world? We ate in the restaurant overlooking the water and it was meh. The server was really nice but the food was mediocre and pretty pricey. read more

We are staying at the Lakefront hotel be sure my husband has a conference there. It's an old hotel. The walk to our room took us on a winding hallway. The room is big and comfortable. We didn't get a nice view but still beautiful with all the snow. The lake is frozen so there are no planes taking off and landing the Flying Machine serves up a delicious breakfast. Haven't had another meal there yet. Our waitress was very friendly. The front desk staff totally ignored us when we wanted to check in. We know that we were early but have the decency to at least acknowledge us. We paid for and early check in and a late check out $50 each and it wasn't even in the system. read more

Today, this so-called lakefront hotel is out-dated with rooms that need new carpets, furniture, beds, etc. A full remake is needed. Then, the service. What service? It took an hour and 3 calls to the front desk to get a hair dryer to replace the one I had which was burned out. The photos for the property are very misleading. My heart sank as I walked past the garbage and questionable poop on the walkway and into a lobby that was 100 degrees. The carpet throughout was in need of a serious vacuum and just plain dirty. My room contained two beds that were hard lumpy cheap mattresses. The carpet was dirty and matted and all the furniture was covered in a heavy dust. With that said I slept on top of sheets in my travel clothes and checked out first thing in the morning. It's sad because you can see the hotel was once a gem of a property now it's just a thrift shop version of its former self. I will add the staff was courteous and helpful read more
