I have extreme sensitivity in a tooth with a 10-year-old pulp cap. Last May, I bit into an RX date…read morebar (I've had these many times) and felt sharp pain in tooth #4. For six months I dealt with sensitivity, mainly triggered by hot and cold. I could eat and chew just fine as long as I started chewing on my left side first. Last May, I spoke with my dentist, had X-rays taken, and he told me I'd eventually need a root canal. He didn't give me any other solutions, so I just waited to see if things would get worse. Six months later, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Gharib's office because the sensitivity was getting to me (even though it was on and off), and I started feeling pain up my cheek. I was worried about potentially having an infection or, even worse, an abscess. Christine at the front desk was so kind and accommodating. It was easy to schedule an appointment. She told me that Dr. Gharib is very conservative and only recommends procedures when absolutely necessary. I figured that was just something she said to everyone. At my appointment, I had X-rays done and reviewed them with Dr. Gharib. He was very kind, soft-spoken, and answered my many (many) questions while listening intently to my concerns. I did not feel rushed at all--I felt like I was actually being heard. After his examination, he didn't see any infection on the X-ray, but it did show a slight fracture in the pulp cap filling, which could be the cause of the heightened sensitivity. He didn't pressure me to do a cone beam scan or even suggest it; I personally requested it because I wanted to be absolutely sure there wasn't an infection at the root, since that would make a root canal necessary. The cone beam scan confirmed I had no infection whatsoever--thank goodness. He sat with me for a long while discussing what I could do to help the sensitivity and the slight fracture. He said it might be as simple as replacing the filling with an inlay or onlay, but since my pulp cap is very close to the nerve, that carries the risk of needing a root canal if it fails. He suggested trying Sensodyne for a few weeks and then having my dentist check whether an inlay or onlay, to replace the filling, is an option. There's a chance that might fix the problem. After my appointment, I felt so much more at ease. I was relieved that I didn't have an infection and grateful that I actually had options before committing to a root canal. Dr. Gharib even wrote me a long email afterward, reiterating everything we talked about. That, right there, is a dentist who truly cares. If and when I ever need a root canal, I'll be going to Dr. Gharib. He is professional, honest, thorough, and welcomes ALL questions. All the positive reviews you've read are true. Not every dentist cares like this!

So they said if I wanted to pay out of pocket and when the insurance approved it, they will reimburse me. So they coute me $1000 for the treatment. But I decided to wait for the insurance authorization. When the insurance came through, they were going to pay $650 and I suppose to pay $350. Ok, that was good. So I call the dentist to make an appointment for the treatment and they said that I have to pay $680. I told them about the insurance, but because the insurance was going to pay 65% of the amount, they raised the price. So I send them packing. Bunch of thieves. You better go somewhere else.

Since I grind my teeth, I'm used to jaw soreness, but this felt different. I was very anxious about possibly needing a root canal. From the moment I arrived, the office staff were warm and welcoming, which helped ease my nerves. Dr. Farshad Seyedein took the time to listen and was very understanding of my anxiety. He was gentle, made sure I was comfortable and fully numb, and kept me updated throughout the procedure so I always knew what was happening. I also opted for the laser treatment for the infection after cracking my tooth. To my surprise, this ended up being the most positive dental experience I've ever had with minimal pain/discomfort! Both procedures were smooth, efficient, and surprisingly comfortable. Dr. Jönsson is warm, calm, incredibly smart, and exceptionally skilled at what he does, and somehow even interesting to talk to while working on a tooth that *feels* approximately two millimeters from your brain. He explains everything clearly, answers questions thoughtfully, and makes you feel completely at ease the entire time. His main assistant is also fantastic. She is kind, attentive, and professional. Hours later, I was in excruciating pain and nobody answered the phone or responded to my voice messages. There was no answering service. My son's dentist, Grace Dental, who has also treated me referred me. I called them and they said I should call Cornerstone, that does not care about patients once they have their money. I assumed the referral would be trustworthy like Grace Dental. Cornerstone had a staff of six sitting in the front office. I assume this is marketing and management as I never saw or spoke to any of them later. By the time I found out about the antibiotics, it was too late and other medical issues create problems with antibiotics, but I can take if needed. I never saw Dr. Edalot during this visit awake. I had seen him briefly during a pre-op appointment. My caregiver called him Dr. Hottie. That was the only time I saw him, so that is a moot point. I saw the anesthesiologist who was with me after the procedure. I had no way to call him. I learned later he told my helper he did not believe in narcotics. I never knew this. Defensive medicine and insurance payment are what is paramount. I am almost 70, and through numerous hospitalizations never thought of becoming a drug addict. Plus, I have to take benedryl with narcotics or I will itch and this makes my asthma worse. I imagine the anesthesiologist and dentist also ensure they and their families do not endure post-operative pain. The paying patient does not matter. I learned later that after my post, antibiotics and 75 mg of Tramadol, which does not exist was phoned in from my CVS app. I assume Cornerstone did not answer CVS when they called. Either, they are ignorant as to medication or did this on purpose. I called Grace Dental who told me to call Cornerstone that never answered. I am waiting for them to return my call about completing the work. Maybe, they won't call me back because I complained, not about them, because they were great and very patient. I hope so. I need more work done. Dentists legally are not required to treat disabled patients as MDs are. Cornerstone had numerous five star glowing reviews. I know there are numerous ways this can occur. I assume the other reviewers did not have my experience, if they were real patients. The honest and fair practice would be to inform patients that they will have pain when the medication wears off and staff will not answer phone or return calls. My husband said he was better than crooks I went to years ago. My husband was not financially ripped off as with previous dentists. Teeth still hurting....
