This is King Real Estate, not Coastal Atlantic Management. They changed their name on Yelp so that their bad reviews couldn't be found. KRE scammed my fiancé and I, and from other reviews it seems like that's a common theme with them. You should 100% listen to the other reviews and run the other way. This rental company will find any way they can to maximize their profit and keep your money. The only positive review this company has is from a former employee and personal friend of the owner, King Weinstein. This man obviously has never dealt with KRE as a tenant or customer. Unethical underhanded and down right liars. I had two different encounters with them and both were the worst. Rented a condo for one year from them on Garfield st in Saco. I moved out at the end of my lease and my room mate a new lease. They took first months payment from him and used my security deposit for him and told me to get it from him. Then when they sent me a check was only for half of the security deposit. They said it was because of the damage to the condo they had to repair. No repair was ever made to the condo sense there was no damage and the current renter even verified that. Took a complete year to get the money. Two years ago my mother in-law rented a house on Scarborough beach. The pictures did not match the place. It was a dump. Again, they over charged her credit card and tried to screw her out of her security deposit. These people are scum! This is the worst rental company I have ever encountered. I moved into my apartment in 2020 and was told it would be cleaned with all damages fixed. It was filled with black mold, the ceiling was heavily stained and soft with water damage, the carpets were never cleaned, the sliding door to outside did not fully close, etc. We did not receive an answer from the company or the maintenance contact the entire year we were there. It has been almost 5 months since I moved out, and King still refuses to return my security deposit. It is stated in my lease that they must return it within 30 days of the lease ending by law, unless damage is stated with the 30 days. Damage was never stated, they have completely ghosted me. I went to the office today and King himself would not come downstairs to speak to me. I was told this morning that this issue would not be taken care of. I am now taking legal action against the company. This is a disgusting business. read more

Similar to the other posts, these guys are awful. The location we saw was not the pictures we were originally shown. The people at KRE would rarely return calls or keep us posted with the status of our application. They kept asking for more money, at first it was the 1st and last month rent, then it was a double security deposit, then they blatantly asked for $5000. We kept getting the run around on seeing the place, kept rescheduling and stalling. A total scam. The entire process was awful. Thank God we dodged that bullet and took a MUCH nicer place. read more

There is a woman named "Tracy Johnston" who is the manager of what seems like the majority of the apartments that are listed as "available" in Old Orchard Beach. She has multiple tel. numbers...lists apartments that are not available on Craigslist, because they are NEVER listed on the KRE website, and if you call one of her numbers, she NEVER gets back to you. I've tried the following forms of contact: email, real estate office voicemail, cellphone voice mail and text. I've been very polite each time, because I very much need an apt. in OOB, so I don't understand why she doesn't respond, when she knows NOTHING about me...my income, references, credit rating, etc. Weird...something very 'shady' about KRE...something is not right about them. read more

The absolute WORST real estate and rental company ever. I have never had such a bad experience with a land lord in my life. They do not respond to needs of tenants, do not care about their properties, and have no respect for taking care of issues. They rented an apartment to me, that I was told would be cleaned and painted, that was absolutely filthy and disgusting. They then said that it was my issue because I signed the lease before moving in and officially inspecting it. When I was told it would be cleaned, etc. They then had the audacity to withhold my security deposit when I left the property cleaner than it was given to me. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. All of the other reviews really sum up King Real Estate, but I would like to add my own story. The property management and everyone running the company are not people you want to deal with. My sister had a serious issue involving her roommate and regarding her safety. My sister needed to get out of the situation and the property management would NOT let her off. It got to a point where the police were involved in her safety situation. To make matters worse the management tried to down play the situation so they would not lose any money. Yes you can't just let everyone break lease, but when it comes to someone's safety, there should be a better team effort to help her. Including messages that want to show they want to help rather than just cold and hardball emails. If you want a management team that care about the well being of their customers, King Real Estate is not a place I would suggest. The worst part was the management was short and rude in emails and extremely unhelpful. The property management told us that trying to find a better situation was "above the call of duty" While I believe "Property management " should entail "running anything that needs assistance on the PROPERTY" Also was told that they have hundreds of properties and can't continue to give this issue so much time. I would not suggest King Real Estate to anyone, because from property management to owner, they cared only about their couple months of rent, over the safety of my sister. This has been the worst experience ever. The workmanship is horrible. The work was not finished. The floor was splitting in a brand new condo. Paint was all over surfaces. The sides of doors not painted. I would never buy from KRE or recommend. My condo is at Cider Hill. Take your feet and run. I would give it no stars if possible. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE...COMPLETE JOKE OF A RENTAL COMPANY. I don't even know where to begin with my experience. My friends and I rented from them for my senior year and it was just problem after problem. The property manager took almost two months to send us a lease for the house and even when it was time to sign, we had to have one of our parents (who worked in reality) set up the electronic signing process because the PM couldn't figure it out. After we moved in, we realized the house had some major issues like the dishwasher not working and leaking all over the kitchen floor (we eventually got a semi working dishwasher but the leaking all over the floor never stopped), the pipes would freeze constantly because of the lack of heat, and speaking of lack of heat, the house only had three heaters for a 4000 square foot home and they were all located on the first floor. We basically had to beg and nag them to install heat in the upstairs where everyone's bedrooms were and even then we only got heaters in half the rooms. The basement had loads of asbestos and trash, the closet had a light hanging with exposed wires, there were vines growing through the window, many windows either didn't open or required a piece of wood to keep them open, and the list goes on and on. We moved out and was told a check would be mailed to one of us but it was never received. My roommate finally went to pick one up and it didn't have the correct name so she asked for a new one to pick up and it again had the wrong name. She finally went to pick up one with the supposed correct name and the receptionist said she mailed it but wasn't sure to what address. I finally contacted King and told him I would pick up the check in my name on a certain day, when I went to get it, it was wrong and mailed out. I told them I wasn't leaving without a check and they told me that I'd have to wait all day to get a new one because King was on a call that was going to last all day. After almost three hours of waiting and fighting I finally got my deposit back and that was two months after we moved out. I immediately went to the bank and cashed it because I did not trust that they actually had the money. Worst people and service ever. read more

Almost every review on here is accurate , I've dealt with these people for quite some time , and have yet to receive even a rent receipt and were talking year's , they have never repaired and damages that were here prior to me moving in , to date I still have two cracked windows a quick patch job in my ceiling a missing fan in my bathroom , and a $150 rent hike in less than a year ... Yes these people are slumlords I have plenty of pictures , have contacted state housing authority ...and they still are allowed to operate there questionable business tactics , including postings on Craigslist under different names . Definitely take your money and run , they'll do it to you and they have and steal from contractors , I've seen it , it's right outside my front door he's probably looking for another to finish it so he doesn't have to pay them either. read more

He gave me the run around and then simply stopped responding. Once I asked around I was told this is common practice for him. If I could give 0 stars I would! From the beginning of the rental experience with them it has been a literal shit show. We moved into an apartment that wasn't cleaned, had several damages, and never did a final walk through before receiving the keys. There were many emails, calls, and texts sent to get the damages fixed and that NEVER happened!! Mr. King is morally and ethically corrupt most of the lease was during the pandemic and he and the property manager kept calling and texting saying we were behind on rent and was threatening to evict us, even though they legally couldn't. They tried saying that we were behind on the rent by a months but even upon showing proof that payments were up to date, they tried saying "oh it must have been another month that were missed" Like come on!!! Really?!!!! I can't believe that they would try to lie and take money from people, especially during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC!! I would highly suggest to NEVER rent from them EVER! If I could leave negative stars for King Real Estate and the management, I would. Easily the worst rental company I have ever had to work with. I rented an apartment from them in Saco for 3 years and never had a single late payment. When we bought a house, we discussed with management in depth on how we could terminate our lease early. We were told that we would have no repercussions as long as we could get the unit filled with no gaps between renters. We allowed people to do walk throughs while we were still there and another couple was scheduled to move in 2 days after we moved out. We were told during the final walk through of our apartment that the place looked great and they probably wouldn't even have to have it professionally cleaned (nasty... we lived there for 3 years that should NEVER be the case). We were also told we would be getting our full security deposit back. A month went by and we had not received our deposit. We reached out numerous times and left numerous messages with no return calls. The receptionist we spoke with actually told us on 2 occasions that the check was sent out and we must have given them the wrong address. When we asked them to put a stop/hold on the check so we could come in and pick it up we were told they couldn't do that, but to wait another week to see if it arrives. I was finally able to get in contact with King Weinstein who quite honestly had NO clue what was going on and thought we still lived in the unit, even though other tenants have now been there for the past 2 months. About 2 days later we were given a disposition of security deposit for $1200 saying that we were not authorized to break our lease. So, not only had we been told twice that we were all set and the full amount was coming back to us, but we're also told on 2 different occasions that the check had already been sent out! I am kicking myself now that I hadn't thought to get all of this is writing, but I had no idea what type of people and what a horrible company I was dealing with. There is absolutely ZERO communication amongst staff in that office and it doesn't surprise me that their overall rating is a 1.5 out of 5 after reading many of the other reviews. His properties are not maintained at all and are disgusting. They want top dollar for any unit that they are renting when in all actuality they should be paying you to stay there..if you need a place to live take my word and RUN far far far away from anything they own. you will regret spending a dime of your money. King Real Estate has a lot of properties in the Old Orchard Beach, Saco, & Biddeford areas. The property management team is a joke. The accountant/bookkeeper is a foreigner with absolutely no bookkeeping abilities and the rent owed fluctuates when it shouldn't. It is almost unheard of that groundskeeping and snow removal is done. Property manager never replies to messages via phone or email and if there are maintenance issues.... FORGET IT! I had a one pm appointment with Richard, a representative that works with King Real Estate, to show me two rental properties that were available in Old Orchard Beach, ME. The appointment got off to a rough start, Richard could not unlock the doors to enter either rental property. He left the rentals to go to the real estate office to get the correct keys. We started to review one of the apartments, about ten minutes into the viewing; Richard tells me both rentals are already rented. In my initial morning phone call and setting up an appointment, Richard told me that two apartments were available. I was not pleased with this news nor on how this experience was handled. He told me," to call in a couple days at the King Real Estate Office and to see whether the rentals went through." I went over to the King Real Estate with my completed application to see Christian, another King Real Estate Representative, who I was dealing with the same property. I was very confused and angry. It became apparent there is little to no communication between the rental property manager and her representatives. Rental property lists are not being updated in a timely manner, so that all the representatives know which properties have been rented or not. The rental property manager seems to be lacking in customer service skills. She was not able to acknowledge me or make an apology to me for the inconvenience and the conflict. A business thrives when superior customer service skills and communication are utilized. This demonstrates professionalism and respect to the customer. This experience has given me pause as to evaluate the leadership skills of the rental manager as a potential landlord. Moreover, will the rental property be maintained, if emergency maintenance is required, will she respond, promptly respond, and communicate to the renter. This experience gives me a glimpse into this property management; I will not seek another property rental from this company. BEWARE!!!!!!! I would post zero stars if i could. My husband, 6 month old son (at the time) and myself rented a condo for a winter lease. At first the management seemed gracious and we were really looking forward to our living situation. Within 2 weeks we had employees entering our condo with no prior notice or permission. I breastfed our son so I frequently walked around in my bra and on 4 separate occasions we had employees knock once then enter. Literally one knock then let themselves in!!!! We felt EXTREMELY unsafe in our own residence and left our lease since KRE had already broken the lease anyway. We just got a call from a debt collector saying we owe $2500. We NEVER received a bill from them (gave them our forwarding address seeing as we should have received our security deposit back) and don't owe them anything REGARDLESS as they broke the lease!!!! We will not be paying and we will take them to court if need be. We know our rights and won't sit back like helpless sheep. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS! read more

My husband and I rented a townhouse in Portsmouth, NH from King Real Estate. Big mistake. The location was great, but the condo was high end slum lord type of situation. They would not fix things (took six months to get the dishwasher fixed so it would not slide out and crash off the tile on to my foot); a leak in the refrigerator never got fixed, along with the hole in garage ceiling; kept getting late fee bills, even when we sent canceled checks proving we were paying on time, never fixed the blinds, gas fireplace, but the WORST was when we terminated the lease at the end doing everything we were supposed to - 2 mos notice, list of items to be repaired, etc - it took 45 days to get our security deposit back only after we threatened a lawsuit. They said we had to pay for painting (when one of their own came into paint), carpets due to stains (carpets were at least 8-9 years old). Even after we moved out we got a bill for the next month rent! Advice: if you do rent (which I don't recommend) video tape everything during the initial walk-thru, video tape the day you move out, keep every communication you have with them (emails, voicemails, etc). I've never written a review, but felt the need to maybe help someone else out if they're looking for a place to rent in Portland, ME. Please, please, please do not rent from King Real Estate. The company changes bookkeepers every year, and things (including personal information) are lost in the process. In order to get anything fixed in our apartment, my roommate and I had to call an average of 5-6 times. Most recently, it took 8 days to fix a hot water heater that had broken in the apartment next to ours and water had flooded our kitchen. 8 days of this and what is left behind is a warped kitchen floor, stained living room carpet and growing mold where the leaking happened. Our stove burners went this year. After calling several times, a technician came out, only to fix two of them. This year the grass in the back yard grew to be 4 feet tall before someone came to mow the lawn. Two years ago no one came to plow/shovel any of us out (for any storm- not just one of them). This company is the definition of slum lord. So if you're looking for a place to rent, you might find what looks like an ok apartment and the rent may be nice and cheap. But if you see King Real Estate, you need to pass. It's not worth it. read more
