Filthy, disgusting, insulting. That's how I would describe this place. We were seated at a filthy table, and I had to clean it myself. Then, when I went into the bathroom, to wash my hands from cleaning the filthy table, there was feces all in the toilet. I immediately asked to speak to the manager, and a young lady came over that said she was one of them, but she appear to be just a waitress herself. I find that very deceitful. There was so much trash and food debris under the table that we were set at. I just don't know what's going on with this restaurant. But I can honestly say, it's the first time and the last time. I never write negative reviews. Having worked in restaurants when I was younger and having loved ones who own restaurants and are in the service Industry, I know far too well how challenging the business can be. However, this experience was one I cannot ignore. I was part of a party of 3 that came to Coastal Breeze by accident. Our plans had been to eat at another restaurant by the lake, but after hearing how long the wait was and still in the mood for seafood, we drove by Coastal Breeze Sunday night and just had to stop. The parking lot was full, there was a 30-min. wait, and the menu looked great. All good signs. However, that was where the good stopped. We were seated at a dirty table with a child's toy still on the floor beside us, in a busy walkway. None of the servers looked like they had any customer service experience --in fact I don't think I saw anyone over the age of 18 on the floor our entire visit. The waiter didn't know the menu, said there were no specials, and that he didn't know what was in the sauces they offer on the fresh fish options, but that they "sold a lot of them". The steamed oysters were unseasoned, mushy and tasted like chalk. I grew up at the beach and these were by far the worst oysters I've ever had. Two of us had fish, mine was blackened mahi-mahi, another guest had grilled grouper. Both were swimming in oil, and had a weird smell. The oil even made its way over to my steamed broccoli. The mango salsa on my fish was runny, consisting of some diced mango and something watery --adding no flavor to the dish. My black beans were served in a ramekin and had something at the bottom of the dish. When I asked the server about it, he shrugged his shoulders and said it looked like a mushroom --one lone mushroom in black beans! He said that's how they make them. The 3rd guest ordered the grouper fingers. They did turn out good, as did the yeast rolls with butter, although we had to request bread multiple times (when it was offered to other tables when they first walked in). Yet, even with his food tasting good, both of the margaritas he ordered were watery and weak. Very little alcohol taste, at all, even though one of his drinks was a special on the menu. In reading other reviews, I am torn that while some seem to have good experiences, others are very similar to mine --concerns about training of the staff, poor food quality and weak drinks. I am writing this review not to bash an establishment, but in hopes the owner or a manager will read it and use it to make improvements. I think there are probably good items on the menu, and most likely some good servers. But, if that is the case, the rest of the staff needs training, they need a new bartender, a new chef, and to simplify their menu. If their strength is Calabash-style fried seafood and crab legs, keep it simple and maybe the restaurant can excel. It won't last if others have the same experience we did. read more

First time here. We just moved into the area and passed by it a few times and wanted to give it a try. I had the grouper fingers which were very good. My wife had the crab cakes which were also very good. My son had the fried shrimp which he enjoyed. My only complaint would be the service. Our glasses stayed empty for too long before being noticed. Came to this spot from a recommendation from the hotel I was staying at in town. Decided to go with the seafood étouffée and I was glad that I did. Topped with shrimp, lobster, and crab it was bursting with flavor and the portion size was plentiful. What I did like was that the menu has a ton of options so I was a bit of a challenge to narrow it down, but i was satisfied with my choice. Just came back from an after-church luncheon with my darling sister earlier today and decided to eat at Coastal Breeze Seafood Grill because of the all positive reviews. I love seeing places around here get more recognition on Yelp. :) While my sister and I perused the menu, our waiter brought out our glasses of water and a basket of five mini rolls with sweet butter. I don't know what it was, but the bread and butter was goood! Too bad it wasn't endless bread because we devoured them in a blink of an eye. We ended up sharing the coastal seafood dip appetizer and the crab cake sandwich with homemade chips. The seafood dip was served in a ceramic ramekin along with six small pieces of toasted baguette. The texture of the baguette seemed day-old, but it held the dip well. The dip itself was a bit salty and heavy, probably due to all the cheese on top. There were only tiny "seafood" bits in the dip, so my advice would be to use less cheese, more shrimp and scallops, and if they'd throw in some crackers on the side, I'd be a happy camper! The crab cake sandwich seemed sloppily put together and the crab cake itself wasn't firm and broke apart easily. However, it tasted GREAT! The home made chips were addicting and probably among the best I've ever had. My sister especially liked the seasoning they used on top. While we were eating, the owner (I think) came up to us and started some small talk, which is refreshing. That doesn't happen too much nowadays. On another note, the place itself was dirty with crumbs on the table and booth cushions. And all the menus (main, drinks, specials) were sticky. There were a lot of service staff and hardly any customers, so I wish they would pay more attention to detail and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. All in all, I would've given two or three stars, but the food was BOMB! If they were to take note / improve on the items I suggested, I wish more people came out to eat here. Oh, and thank goodness I did not take my car because it never would've made it through the construction going on right in front of it. For being in Lake Lanier, I was very disappointed in the food and service. Our waitress disappeared after we ordered and had the manager helping us. Got two margaritas and the second one tasted like something was missing. Manager instructed us that the waitress went home and we told him they the margarita did not taste right, did not apologize for the missing waitress nor the drink. No sign of a extra sanitizing tables other than wiping the table. I've been vaccinated, my had one shot, so we did have a bit of an uneasy feeling. We're seniors. Very lively place, but not too loud. Very family friendly. I had blackened grouper and my wife has it broiled. She commented that hers "tasted a bit fishy". They state "fresh", but I'm guessing a day or two old. The portions were adequate. We also had the calamari appetizer. Very good! The beverage menu needs work or you need to train your waiters better so they can answer beer questions. Finally, when we ask to take home the leftovers, don't toss them. "Oh I must have misunderstood you". No, better to ASK the customer if they would like to retake these home. On the way to spend the day on Lake Lanier's boat we decided to pop in here and fill our bellies with some seafood.
