We had the housemade potato chips (melt-in-your-mouth), the beet carpaccio, which was so light and refreshing, the caprese salad, the house caesar (crispy capers? Yes please!), and the cheesy focaccia, along with some delightful cocktails. Not as rich as we thought and the filling was like fried milk donuts, so had a very contrasting but pleasant texture. Last but not least. The escalivada con garbanzos with anchovies, roasted garlic, peppers and onions. Got to get something healthy right? This was such a comfort dish, remind us of summer get-togethers with relatives. Sweet garlic and gently soft peppers and onions, savoury umami from anchovies (not pungent at all) really went well to elevate the chickpeas. The nutty sweetness from the liberal use of olive oil tied everything together. Maybe the cheese was overpowering or maybe they just overdid it with the salt. There wasn't so much as a whisper of sauce. The fries again were overly salted. The water tasted like lemon water with bits cucumber in it. I couldn't taste the watermelon. Prices were reasonable. All in all, I expected better and I left disappointed. There are better places to get a burger in Vancouver.
