I have been meaning to write this review for the past few months now. Before the Covid 19 shut down, I had an opportunity to meet a few buddies for drinks here. Being that it is in the neighbourhood, I can't for the life of me think why I haven't frequented this place more often. Anyways, I met Willy, the General Manager, about a year ago, as our company cleans the carpets at the pub. Got the ribs, very good and a great value. Not heated all the way through, but still amazing. I'd gladly order them again.

Nice ambiance. Good food and service. Will return. A reasonable stop after a hike. Good for meeting friends.

We stayed at the adjoining hotel, with awesome pool on our trip to North Van and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. I'm reviewing this gem of a place three years too late but I can't stop thinking about their braised short rib poutine'. It is truly the best poutine I've ever had! I took pics so my wife could make efforts to duplicate, this recipe,, but we must come back to get it again! This is easily one of the best things I've ever eaten in my 50 years of life! Don't let the fact that this place is in a Holiday Inn fool you. This isn't your typical faceless, soulless traveler's watering hole. Much more a fun & friendly "neighborhood pub"...mostly students & people related to nearby CapilanoU, but a smattering of more "mature" folks as well. We just went to have a drink while listening to one of our favorite bands, but ended up staying because we were impressed by the food, service & prices. read more

Definitely never coming here again. There's at least a dozen mice I've seen running around and when I brought it to the servers' attention I received the response "oh, yea we know. Management is too cheap to close in order to get an exterminator in here" followed by "it's not like it's a health risk, everything in the kitchen is wrapped up or put in containers at the end of the night". I wasn't sure what to expect when I first came here with some buddies. It looked like a dingy beaten up place on the side of the highway. From looking at the front you'd think the place is tiny, but the place is freaking HUGE. The pub runs lengthwise. In other words, the place goes deep, not wide. The place was pumping out tons of classic rock. There is tons of seating, and the staff were very friendly. One thing to note: they didn't show UFC here the night I came. But this may not be a bad thing, as we were trying to avoid the UFC crowds that day. Just a heads up. I tried their lamb burger. It was actually pretty decent. The onion rings are awesome. Fries are good too. Portion is sizeable, and should fill up most people. Their beer selection seems to be different from other places. Looks like they have a deal with Russell. I had a chance to try their Scotch ale (never heard of it before). It tasted like a stronger version of an IPA. Washrooms smelled a bit funny, but at least there were no puddles on the floor. One other thing to note, there is literally only ONE way out of this place by car. I've been told that this is a fishing ground for Counterattack (police). So, be smart. read more

Really good food, great beer and wine selection, good prices too. Friendly staff, clean, comfortable.

First of all, my server (Julia), upon greeting me and taking my drink order, informed me that she, in fact, sold cannabis products and if I ever needed anything, she could "hook me up." Real classy, honey. Also, the other server on duty looked like she been indulging in said cannabis products. Or maybe something else because she kept picking her nose, which leads me to believe that she "had the sniffles," if you catch my drift. Second of all, the food :( Not only did I feel terrible once I got home but the food terrible in itself. Initially, I'd gone in for brunch but, as it turns out, the "chef" hasn't yet learned to cook eggs. I was told that he doesn't know how to make an omelet (AN OMELET) so, brunch wasn't available. What a chef! He must be hoping for a Michelin star soon! Finally, when I politely tried to voice my displeasure to the manager (and, honestly, I was being polite) she came over, looking as if she been up getting smashed all night and had skipped her morning ablutions - she literally had crust in her hair. Not only that but she had a woe-is-me attitude - completely defeatist, as if it were a normal occurrence. Maybe get a new chef, honey. All I can say in conclusion is avoid that place at all costs. Whoever the new owners are, they are failing in the most pitiful way. From what I've heard, it's the same dummies that bought and ruined Caffè Artigiano. No wonder Seymour's is now worse than ever. read more

This little pub has a hidden burger thats a gem which I think competes with any other burgers in similar places. The Seymour Burger. Its a high stacked massive patty on a Brioche Bun with bacon, cheddar onions rings, a killer sauce and of course OLT. Its just a typical plate with fries but if you are in the neighbourhood and really want a stupendous burger come this is the place to go. Price is $17.50. It on the high side for a burger but it is a pub in North Van with table service. Waitresses and servers are quite friendly too. Down side is access right now as construction of the highway is still going on. read more

Not going to lie. Hard to give a pub a 5 star rating by only going once so ill leave it at 4 for now. --- Overall --- Will be returning. Probably at least bi-weekly. Its near CapU. Which is fantastic for me. The food is great for lunch, drinks are good and Gavin, the bar manager is fantastic at his job. --- Food --- I like to entrust a place for the first time and see what they can do. So I ordered the soup and sandwich lunch special. Great choice. Marbled rye with chicken and turkey and bacon. And the soup was a great beef and potato stew. --- Drinks --- They have a decent amount on tap. So I definitely cannot complain. --- Service --- This is the reason ill be coming back. I can't begin to describe how important service is to a restaurant. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys being treated like a human being instead of a baked potato. read more

Lots of Staff, none wanting to do their job. "bring the kids" is what i heard from a friend, so we did. We walked in, one of the staff said 'hello' and sit anywhere you like. We sat waiting for 15 minutes before we got menus, over near the POS system two staff members were chatting, not looking up - infact they I believe intentionally avoided coming to our section. I went and got menus myself, and 5 min later they came to see what we wanted. Food was ok, but service was awful. Will never go back. Will tell friends and family - NEVER TO GO HERE. read more

Went to Seymour's after a hike around Lynn Canyon as it's at the base of Lilloet Road and the easiest place to reach on the way home. We were a fairly large party, maybe 8 or 9 people or so. The place was pretty dead on a Sunday at around 1pm so I guess they don't do a lot of lunch trade at the weekend. The decor and ambiance is pretty good, it's nice to see an older style pub like we have back home in the UK, there aren't many like it here in Vancouver. Sadly, that's where the resemblance starts to fall apart. Unlike the UK, the service here was pretty grim. The waitress had a face like a slapped arse (an annoyed expression) the entire time she served us, as if we were intruding on her day in some way. She seemed so impatient the entire time our party were ordering, almost to the point of being rude. Don't get me wrong, the service was swift and nothing was incorrect, she just clearly hated her job and didn't want to be there. Seymour's claims to be a family friendly pub, I did not get that impression at all when we were there. There was nothing friendly about it. The food was okay, nothing to go crazy about but then again it's a pub so I don't expect anything out of this world. I did find the menu to be a little pricey for pub grub. $17 for a burger and fries would be on the pricey side of most restaurants and this certainly ain't fine dining. If they dropped the prices 25% or so it might be more in line with what I'd expect. Would I go back? Meh. Only if I'm in the immediate area. read more

Review Type: Semester End Lunch Seymour's Pub is a great place to hang out and just kick back from a hard day of studying. As most Capilano University students know, our school cafeteria sucks. The food there is bland and the prices are extremely expensive. The solution to getting over that is to come to Seymour's Pub. The staff is extremely friendly and will cater to most your needs, some are even students that share the same grief as us. The best part is that if you are a Capilano University student with a student card, Seymour's offers a 20-25% discount on food. The food here is amazing. A most try on my list is the Spare Rib Poutine, Black Bean Cigars, and the Yorkies. Pair any of those dishes with beer on tap of the day and you've got yourself a great meal for a good price. Ever since I was introduced to Seymour's and their food, I have never gone back to eating on school campus. Even on day offs, I'll make my drop by for a beer. To make everything sweeter, Seymour's has a great soup and sandwich deal every day, a cigerette dispenser (not that I smoke), a good bartender, plenty of televisions with different sports games playing, and a pool table. read more

Give them a discount and they will come...I agree...as long as you have a valid student card and 2 pieces of ID you can eat and drink and be merry! This is the only place in town that has me waiting in front of their doors to open...I swear I'm not an AA case...but my classes sometimes end before 11, and who is mad enough to go home stressed out?! The decor is really comfy and with a variety of seating. Your choice; under the big screen TV's, near to a window, or even under a skylight and next to a fireplace! Choices for Celiac's or gluten free people are slim and the servers on not well educated on the subject. You can order random items off the menu and they will kindly assemble them for you, which is nice. I've had the salmon with rice and once I had a delicious salad with Sirloin strips with a Balsamic Vinaigrette which was yummy! This place is perfect for an after hike meal especially if you can score the fireplace seats. Bonus, it's close to highway 1 and there is plenty of parking. *Warning, it gets loud in there when games are on! read more

I love this place. A pub with all the usual pub-by things (TV screens, pool table, long wooden bar), but the food. Oh, the food. The menu is consistent enough to be a 'local' to hang out in and bring visitors. But they keep adding new specials. If you can still find it, do try the charred prawn taco salad. Beans, rice, shredded salad leaves, gorgeously huge prawns, a spicy sauce to die for and fresh sour cream and guac. All in a light and fresh taco bowl. Yum yum yum. read more

Best happy hour prices! Went after a morning up Seymour mountain. Great typical pub food and drinks

Decent place for drinks and pub snack. Drank a bunch of Amber Ale and it we sampled/shared some appies. It was loud, but no more than expected. Plus, my table of eight probably contributed to that as well, so no big! Waitress was really quick with coming back for more orders, but she was pretty cold. Oh well, busy night- I get it. I'd have rated higher if the Men's bathroom wasn't dirty with toilet paper all over the floor and the dispenser being empty. read more

Well there were so many flies/gnats at the bar that I couldn't even watch the hockey game without being distracted every two seconds. Our tab included short rib poutine, vegi potstickers, a "big guy" of Hoegaarden and, a killer kool-aid and we totally enjoyed them all. What better to balance out a heavy/meaty/yummy dish like short rib poutine than so tasty but a bit lighter vegi potstickers. The refreshed menu for 2019-2020 is very good and worth stopping in if it has been awhile, like it had been for me. I have visited about six times in the last two months, both for dinner and lunch. Have not tried the Sunday brunch yet, but play to so I can watch a game! Excellent appys, killer burgers and beef dip, my daughter's boyfriend is vegetarian and he was happy with all the options he had. The lunch special soup and sandwich ( have been twice and tried two different combos) gives very good value and quick service. All in all, the new management and menu are a welcome addition. Nice to get a table by the fireplace on cooler days. Wednesday night music bingo is a hoot, for all ages, plan to take my teenagers next time, they can stay there until 9:00 pm so from 7:30-9:00 pm we can have some family fun after dinner! read more

Today was pretty bad. Stopped in for a couple of Seymour Burgers. Took almost half an hour to flip a couple of burgers. Worst burger I have ever had in a restaurant/pub. Stale, hard and dry bun. This is NOT a brioche bun as advertised. Whole slice of bun slathered in yellow mustard. Wilted leaf lettuce. Tiny, overcooked and salty pattie. Huge purple onion "puck" jammed in there. Over salted, hard fries. Warm pickle topped it all off. Server asked how everything was. I told her not great and pointed at the mound of yellow mustard on the bun. She actually said, "Oh a little too saucy?" And walked away!!! Also, we were not given any utensils to eat the fries with! I asked for some and she brought one set. So, were we to share them?? Left over half of this mess. Server could see what was going on and that we were ready to pay/leave. She ignored us. So I went to the bar and asked for the owner/manager. He at least had the decency to comp us the meal. Trust me! Go to Medleys Grill right next door. Will never return to Seymours Bar and Grill. read more

We went on a Monday night recently and the first sign that something was off was that they had no fries. We all ordered salads with our meals instead, but when they arrived the lettuce was translucent and slimy, like it had been kept for several days past when it should have been thrown out. My food - the chicken club - came out last. I took one bite and had to spit it out - the chicken was rotten. When I opened the sandwich up to have a look it smelled SO BAD. My friends who'd already eaten some of their own cajun chicken burgers started freaking out that the heavy spices on their chicken might have masked the rottenness. The server did her best with a bad situation, but I will never trust the kitchen there again. It's too bad because they have live music and other fun events, which is a bit of a rarity on the North Shore these days, and we'd eaten there before and it had been OK, but none of our group will ever eat there again. I guess they had a delivery not come in or something, and instead of being honest and saying they only had a very limited menu available they tried to keep going with whatever expired, rotten food they still had in their fridge. I always "enjoyed" a quick meal here at the pub at least once or twice a month for the last couple years and have sent many people there on my recommendation of their Salmon Burger.. But tonight I needed to get some light takeout and I'm sadly disappointed in the outcome. Caesar Salad for $13 plus $5 for some chicken... $19.95 total.. Sounds like it's going to be good from the description... but see for yourself what I've received... An un-tossed un-dressed salad with next to no Parmesan for this amount of lettuce... I separated the lettuce from the cheese and croutons for fun... about a tablespoon. Two would have been more appropriate... if I wanted a salad kit I would have gone to superstore and got one for $4... Vs. $19.95 for the Kit I recieved... So.... To return or not to return???? to recommend or not to recommend??? Not much in this neighbourhood, but there are others not too far away... read more

I came here with Danielle after the UYE for some nachos. The nachos were okay, 1/3 of them were burnt, a little cheese and nothing really else other than the basic fixings. Service was sub par. This a nice pub that has a open floor plan, lots of nice woodwork and isn't too dark. I like the many TV's so it's easy to catch your favourite game no matter where you're sitting. Good selection of beer, food was great (try the black bean cigars) and service was friendly and fast. Would definitely come back. read more

I was really disappointed. We went there recently for dinner. The food was OK not outstanding, but OK. Service was slow. The biggest problem was how dirty everything was. The floor was covered with junk it looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. It makes me wonder about how clean the kitchen is. I don't think I will be going back soon. read more

Giving this place three stars because the actual food and drinks were so great but the service was absolutely horrible. We walked in and saw a server just standing there staring at us but didn't say anything to us. I said "for 2?" And she just gestured to the entire restaurant so we assumed we could just sit anywhere. We chose to sit by the fireplace and we couldn't tell if they come to your table or not to get orders. We made eye contact with multiple servers and no on helped us for at least 15 minutes. We were getting ready to walk out and finally someone came over. We had the desert and the cosmopolitan and the killer koolaid. Awesome drinks and desert but horrible service. read more

I took my spring hockey team here for a tournament and stayed in the Holiday Inn. The Holiday Inn had great service as a hotel. I was very disappointed with the service at Seymour's Pub.
