    Poutine.

We stayed at the adjoining hotel, with awesome pool on our trip to North Van and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. I'm reviewing this gem of a place three years too late but I can't stop thinking about their braised short rib poutine'. It is truly the best poutine I've ever had! I took pics so my wife could make efforts to duplicate, this recipe,, but we must come back to get it again! This is easily one of the best things I've ever eaten in my 50 years of life! (Pics or it didn't happen: Here you go!)

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first came here with some buddies. It looked like a dingy beaten up place on the side of the highway. From looking at the front you'd think the place is tiny, but the place is freaking HUGE. The pub runs lengthwise. In other words, the place goes deep, not wide. The place was pumping out tons of classic rock. There is tons of seating, and the staff were very friendly. One thing to note: they didn't show UFC here the night I came. But this may not be a bad thing, as we were trying to avoid the UFC crowds that day. Just a heads up. I tried their lamb burger. It was actually pretty decent. The onion rings are awesome. Fries are good too. Portion is sizeable, and should fill up most people. Their beer selection seems to be different from other places. Looks like they have a deal with Russell. I had a chance to try their Scotch ale (never heard of it before). It tasted like a stronger version of an IPA. Washrooms smelled a bit funny, but at least there were no puddles on the floor. One other thing to note, there is literally only ONE way out of this place by car. I've been told that this is a fishing ground for Counterattack (police). So, be smart.

    Soup and Sandwich Special

Not going to lie. Hard to give a pub a 5 star rating by only going once so ill leave it at 4 for now. --- Overall --- Will be returning. Probably at least bi-weekly. Its near CapU. Which is fantastic for me. The food is great for lunch, drinks are good and Gavin, the bar manager is fantastic at his job. --- Food --- I like to entrust a place for the first time and see what they can do. So I ordered the soup and sandwich lunch special. Great choice. Marbled rye with chicken and turkey and bacon. And the soup was a great beef and potato stew. --- Drinks --- They have a decent amount on tap. So I definitely cannot complain. --- Service --- This is the reason ill be coming back. I can't begin to describe how important service is to a restaurant. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys being treated like a human being instead of a baked potato.

Charred prawn taco salad. Yum yum yum.

Got the ribs, very good and a great value. Not heated all the way through, but still amazing. I'd gladly order them again.

Nice place at the bottom of the hill near Capilano. A little bit pricy for what you get, but their fries are quite good!

Mom was reminiscing about some British restaurant that used to exist somewhere on the North Shore…read moreso I started Googling to see if I could find another place that might serve British food. Google told me about Queens Cross Neighbourhood Pub so we made a spontaneous decision to come and check this place out for our dinner. Mom ordered Fish n Chips, my daughter ordered a Caesar Salad and I ordered a Classic Queens Mac, minus the bacon. Honestly, I wasn't very hungry. I sort of wish I'd just ordered a Caesar Salad like my daughter, or even just shared her salad with her. Originally, my intention was to order light like her. However, when I found myself in the restaurant...it just didn't feel right to order a salad. How often do we find ourselves inside a British restaurant? Caesar salad just didn't seem like the right thing to order, especially not when my daughter was already ordering it. I felt like I needed to order something different so I could try more of the menu. Hence...I ended up with Classic Queens Mac. I ate about half of it, and took the rest home. It came with two triangular pieces of bread on top. The bread was tasty but honestly...I have troubles understanding why restaurants like to serve bread with pasta dishes. Unless it's a small serving of pasta, it just doesn't make sense to me cuz pasta is a carbohydrate...it's a very filling food already. I was so thankful though that my daughter wanted to eat one of the pieces of bread, so that left me with just one piece to eat. I tried a few pieces of the "chips" from my mom's Fish n Chips. Wasn't too impressed but then again, maybe I should have tried it sooner when it was hot. The fries had cooled down already by the time I tried. My Classic Queens Mac had plenty of cheese pull to it and I loved that they put tomatoes into it. I was also happy that they were able to accommodate my request to make the Classic Queens Mac without bacon. Some of their Happy Hour eats look very appealing so maybe we'd try to come here for a Happy Hour sometime. Wish they'd add a Sticky Toffee Pudding to their Dessert section!

I was intrigued by the location even before I came here in person as I could see on the map that it was in a residential area, away from main streets and other commercial businesses. There was only one lady working here (Monika). I came here with my mom. She ordered a Chai Latte and I ordered a Matcha Latte. Our drinks came out fairly quickly but we had to wait quite awhile for our food. We had each ordered a slice of quiche with a bowl of Potato & Leek soup. Monika realized we had waited quite awhile for our food and brought us a chunk of carrot cake on the house to make up for the long wait. She said this cake was their bestseller. No room to eat the cake as tummy space was already taken up by quiche and soup, so we brought the cake home. The cake was quite good indeed and I enjoyed the quiche as well. Drinks and soup could have been better. I would have preferred my Matcha Latte to have been sweeter and my mom felt her Chai Latte was a bit too sweet for her. I think this place has potential and perhaps might do better with a bit more help. It's a charming space in a nice, quiet neighborhood. I do hope there will be more staff working here eventually. Kinda sounded like Monika had taken over this shop not too long ago so...guess it's in a bit of a transitional stage.

They only serve their hot brunch on a weekend, as during the week there is no chef available so it's the pastries and such in the window on offer. We enjoy their brunch offerings, finding them reasonably priced and overall quite tasty. I often get the big breakfast type dish with eggs, bacon etc. They had waffles at one stage that the kids loved but that doesn't seem to be available all the time. We can't go past a pancake on the side, as they're so tasty and cheap! Pancakes all round! ($2 each last time we were there). We enjoy coming here for consistent quality in a different setting. Service can be a little slow at times, though friendly, but they're a small, popular location with minimal staff covering the demand. There's also a small bodega type shop if you wanted to grab premade items or less common snacks. If you come in earlier on a weekend, getting a seat shouldn't be a problem. There's also a nice patio to enjoy the sunny days on. Pretty sure I've seen a few dogs here in the past. They do a good hot brunch which I'd recommend if you're in the area or posting through.
