    1pc cod + chips
    Damien M.

Went to try since previous fish'n chips place(pajos) is gone. I was never one to wholeheartedly like pajos as others have it was just a place to get fish'n chips. That being said I wanted to see if this new establishment was decent or not. I ordered the 1pc cod with chips. Waited for my order as there were 2 orders before mine and it is cooked to order. When i received it my first thoughts were that the fry on the cod looked very nice, fries portion was generous but the portion size of the cod was imo on the smaller side but still acceptable... as I have seen way smaller. To the tasting, I took my first bite without any tartar sauce, I did squeeze the lemon juice over the entire fish with the provided wedge. Boy what a crunch. Super crispy and the fish inside nice and hot. Flavor was for me spot on, nice taste of acidity from the lemon and of the cod. Paired afterwards with the tartar sauce was quite nice and added the fish'n chips flavor you crave for. The fish I don't think was overly battered and obviously cooked well with such a beautiful crunch. I usually do not like this particular style of batter but done correctly I'm absolutely fine with it. Which this was done correctly. The fries were seasoned perfectly .. not too salty and were cooked again perfect. Crispy on the outside hot and fluffy inside. I have no complaints to make about the new Garry Point Grill & Fish'n Chips. The cook obviously knows what they are doing and if you don't get full off of the fish portion the fries will definitely do it for you. That is one thing the other aforementioned establishment lacked as their fry portion was regulated to that paper cone it was served in. All in all very decent. I give the food 3.5 as this isn't fine dining... you'd have to blow my mind to go higher, service was good the girl at the ordering front was friendly and helpful as I witnessed her helping a couple of ladies in front of me. The atmosphere... hey your at Garry point park it had to be a 5 for atmosphere.

i had the Cheese burger for about $10 with tax and it was delicious. I love that the costs are lower than the overrated Pajo's that was there previously. The service was kind and with a smile. They seem to be very grateful to have that privilege to open the business in such an iconic spot. Lots of vegetarian options & they have gelato ice cream on top of all that.

Once my order was completed I found a seat and started to eat. The seating area is limited and if various options, a couple tables here and there and a counter by the window. The fish was crispy and nicely battered and chips were decent. Fish size was again decent i wouldn't say the largest nor small but regular in size to decent fish and chip places. Overall nice, I think strong decent fish and chip place but imo overhyped. It's not bad but nothing mind

I ordered an Oyster Po Boy, fries and a drink which came to total of $27.10. It was messy to eat Po Boy, but that wasn't an issue. Baguette was so crunchy on the outside it was perfect! There was some arugula, kimchi and 3 pcs of oysters in it. I also ordered fries it was huge! Fries were bit salty and overcooked I tossed it out in the end. I left my water and soda to drink them later after heading to washroom. Staff cleared my water and soda away. I still had half of soda in it. I felt thirsty after eating my food in the end. It'd have been nice if she asked me first before clearing dishes. I don't think I'll go back.

Be prepared to wait, and wait you will. Especially if it's a sunny day. 30 min to order your food, and then another 20-30 min to get it, depending on how busy they are. Outdoor seating only with a bunch of benches and a few tables. I already knew I was going to do take away, so I didn't need to jostle for a seat. Almost everyone else had to do the jostleing. Two piece cod and a salmon tacone. The cod was overcooked. The tacone was good. Fries were crispy and unevenly fried. Meaning some pieces were burnt a little. Still acceptable tho. Hence the 3 ***'s It was decent, but it didn't wow me. Maybe it was an off order day. I like my fish. You can smell the ocean near the pier. Makes me feel I'm surrounded by fish and everything fishy.

The building is definitely on the older side. Lots of wood trim. Reminds me of an old dock. The seating area is L shaped, and largely fits around the outer edge of the building (the restaurant is on a corner lot). Great view of the park and water. Staff are friendly and cheerful. As my friends and I were only here for a beer, I can't comment on the food. Pricing looked pretty reasonable, and I've heard good things about this place from friends. Not an Entree size and certainly not filling. The rest of the ingredients were so underwhelming. Barely any beats, a few tomatoes and just a heap of shredded carrots over a bed of greens. So very basic for an $18 salad without the chicken. The 2-piece Cod and Chips. The actual battered fish was nice. The service is great here and the ambiance is kind of classy. I loved getting to watch the bartender shuck the oysters and grate some fresh horseradish on the plate. It was also really fun that they had a variety of sauces you could put on the oysters ranging from a mild mignonette vinegar and cocktail sauce to spicy hot sauces. The oysters that day were from Fanny Bay, so they were very plump and juicy! The addition of the fresh horseradish on the oysters added a really nice flavor with just a hint of the spicy kick you get from jarred horseradish. I also order the shrimp and lobster sliders, which were very tasty.

The flavors were clean, balanced, and absolutely delicious. Definitely a meal we won't forget! We asked for recommendations on local oysters and tried the Island Tides, Kusshi, and Beachcomber. Make sure to their the house sauces, so many beautiful flavors in just a few bites. The potato crusted halibut and mussels were some of the best I've had. Seriously exceptional quality. They absolutely nailed every dish. The flavors, execution, and freshness were all on point. The only downside was the AC, it was barely doing its job when we visited. Honestly, it felt less like dining out and more like having dinner in Arizona. All in all, absolutely loved it and would come back in a heartbeat.
