My mother and I visited the Lacey Coastal store and witnessed one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen in a retail setting. Several White Leghorn chicks were actively pecking at and eating the vents of other chicks. Three were bleeding severely, and we immediately separated them while my mother ran to get help. Instead of responding with urgency, the employee who identified herself as Shawna became confrontational and accused my mother of being rude for the tone she used while trying to report an animal welfare emergency. When you're watching baby chicks being seriously injured, you expect staff to focus on helping the animals, not criticizing the customer asking for assistance. The store manager, Garrett, later spoke with us and acknowledged that they had more chicks than they were selling quickly. The enclosure we observed was overcrowded, contained mixed breeds, had no food available, and very little clean water. Those were the conditions we personally observed, recorded, and photographed. I reported the incident to the city, which informed me they would be monitoring the situation. I also spoke with the regional manager afterward. He apologized, asked for my mailing address, and said he would send gift cards as an apology for our experience. I provided my address, never received anything, and never heard back despite the promise. The gift cards aren't the reason for this review. The real issue is how the animals were being kept, the dismissive response when we asked for help, dishonesty, and the failure to follow through after acknowledging the situation. read more

I was at the coastal store at 5500 Martin Way E, Lacey, WA 98516 when all i did was bring a propane tank in to get filled...I recently just bought a new propane tank from Costco and took it over to the Coastal store to get filled. I wanted to do some shopping and get out of the 95° weather, so I brought it inside. I set it next to teller/register and asked the lady if I could get it filled while I do some shopping and just pay for everything all together..She said sure, ill call them out for you. I said thank you. 10min later I didnt hear her call anyone on the PA, so I asked the nearest associate.."I brought in some propane to get filled but I didnt hear them call it in, can you make sure I get it filled?".. she immediately got hostile and said "i just heard..we all have mics no intercom, and your not allowed to bring propane tanks into the store. You need to take it outside!" I said "oh, im sorry, I didnt know.. ill bring it outside". The whole time i was walking i notice the employees glaring. Then one associate came up to me and said.."excuse me, are you the one with the propane tank, yeah were going to need you to take that outside" in a condescending tone. I said ok thats what im doing. As I got to the front, the same teller said "your not allowed to bring propane tanks inside, theres a filling station on the corner of the building, at the end of the parkinglot". I said.. "all this information would of been helpful when I first brought it in and asked you".. then the Manager came up to me on my way out and said "excuse me! Sir! You cant bring propane tanks into the store!" Thats when I lost my patents. I said "first of all ive never filled propane tanks before, so I didnt know. Second, its new from Costco...if there not allowed in stores then why is Costco selling them in stores!?? And third there is absolutely no reason for you people to get on your mics and trash talk me behind my back, then try and bully me!..so when I bring it to the filling station, how long will it take for someone to come out to meet me? So I dont have to wait in this 95° heat. "When we can get to you" was his exact response, then he walked away. I drove all the way to the end of the parking lot parked at the filling station and seen someone come out...but she was getting in her car. I said "it would be nice if there was a sign saying no propane tanks in the store" she said.. "its state law dumb ass!" And drove away. At this point im literally done with coastal! Im posting what happened to me as many places I can! Every single employee woke up that morning and chose violence twards customer's. There's a reason why nobody is shopping at this store and Every time I go in there its empty...its because of the horrible customer service and how they treat anyone who walks in the door! Also..there are signs all over the front of the store in the entrance saying propane refills $4.99 thats very deceiving and confusing. It makes people want to bring propane tank inside. Its a setup for failure considering how hostile your employees are with customers. I think coastal needs to fire everyone and start fresh. Bring in people that actually want to deal with the public and help. Because what you have working there is a bunch of nasty, hostile karens that like stirring up drama! I am posting this to as many places and websites as I can until these tyrants are gone. read more

Came here because I heard they do the cheap accinations and I needed information on how to sign up. I didn't end up going here for that becasue you have to call in to pre-register and when you look them up online, the Google search helps you make an appointment with a local Tumwater vet that will make the vaccinations super expensive. However, have you ever been in this place? I thought it was a shop just for farmers who need farming equiment, but this place is great. It's kinda like a combination of an Ace Hardware and a Cabelas. They have stuff for your DIY projects so I picked up a part to fix my shower diverter in my tub, but they also have clothing, toys, hunting and fishing equipment, with nice wide, clean aisles. Aesthetically, they are awesome. They had one section with different colors of lawn sprinklers and it was stunning. This place does not get enough love, but it will from me because this place is so cool. Try it out! read more

Worst store ever purchased a firearm that only shot 10 rounds before breaking ,repairs are a joke they held the gun for a month just to find out it never got sent out and stayed in the store until the day we dropped it off. Purchased a 500$ gun broke within the first range day stay far away from this establishment as the customer service is horrendous and I guess you can say the same about their firearms read more

Prices are a bit higher than other places. Cashiers like to chat with other employees and takes longer to check out. Also not good about getting another cashier to help when line gets long. Generally, employees like to chat with one another and avoid customers. Not a fan of this place. read more

Coastal is a great source for SO MUCH. Locally, before Coastal, you might have had to make several stops at many places to achieve the same thing you can achieve just by visiting Coastal alone. Heres what weve shopped there: Clothes Work shoes Dog accessories and self serve dog grooming Vet care Household and garden tools Grilling and BBQ IF coastal had groceries I literally wouldn't need to shop anywhere else. Its a big store but doesn't have a lot of sales coverage. Now, in my opinion, for MOST of Coastal niche market, there doesn't need to be a huge sales floor presence. You will need assistance for several back of the store items. Griils, fueled heaters, guns, and tools. So plan ahead by ordering online, or ask for help once you're in the building. Be patient the folks here really do try to help. On a recent visit, there side door was damaged. We went outside to look at garden clearance stuff, since nothing had been posted prohibiting going through, so we went out and the door locked behind us. Some customers were walking by and let us back in. We mentioned it to the cashier, and a floor manager over heard and authorized a discount on our purchase. Very unnecessary, but nevertheless appreciated. Besides great prices, and products the self serve dog washing facility is clean and simple and great if you have fur babies that would drown your home bathroom out trying to wash them at home. All in all, a wonderful place, and if you find yourself going there for a reason, you wont be disappointed. read more

This place is great! They always have everything we need at a reasonably comparable price. The staff was friendly and helpful on a Saturday afternoon. My wife and I split up to dive into our respective interests and found each other again at the back of the store with our arms full of tools, gadgets, and clothes. We were in and out rather quickly but we did have some meaningful conversations with employees. I will certainly be back :) read more

Come here often for a variety of things ranging from dog stuff to tools to household parts and clothing. staff is usually friendly. While not the cheapest store, it's generally good quality. Most of the clothing however, is chicom made, but that's hard to get around, even at other stores. Good variety of garden supplies, seeds, pet care, and hardware. oil for cars is pretty cheap and I have an ancient truck so, I am not too concerned. read more

Needed to pickup a couple bales of straw, normally I drive over to Tumwater but didn't feel like making the trek that day. Went in wandered for a minute very quickly had a helpful staff person ask me if they could do anything to help me. Explained what I needed and the rest went very easily and everyone from the woman who helped me in the store, to the cashier, to the guy at the loading area were friendly and helpful read more

Worst service ever, could not find product I was in search of, could not find any help, stopped at cash register and asked cashier and she pretty much blew me off so I asked for manager and no one showed up. Phone said they had product in stock and when I checked out and asked for rain check cashiers action was disturbing and when she was looking up item computer showed they had lots of them and when I asked she answered rudely with computer isn't up to date. Poor customer service, No manager available, and I only saw 3 employees total and two were cashiers. read more

Went in on a Friday morning, saw 4 employees and no customers. I asked 2 employees where hand warmers are because I found only toe warmers. They both laughed, said they are all over the place and went back to chatting. Spent another 5 minutes and still, no hand warmers. I bought a target that has two metal stakes that go into the ground and a "self healing" material that hangs from the metal frame. I also accidentally bought a bunch of 380 auto ammo thinking it was 38 special ammo. Within an hour I immediately realized I bought the wrong ammo and called and they told me due to federal law I could not return the ammo or trade it in. The thing that bothers me is that they told me if I was still in the parking lot that I could return it. How do they know I was not still in the parking lot?? They could have easily accepted my return as I could have been in the parking lot still. It really bothers me and I know some people have been able to return their ammo and they have made exceptions for other people. The target I bought literally broke almost immediately as well when I put a few rounds through it. One of the metal stakes that screw onto the frame literally flew off. They made no effort to work with me at all. Over 100$ down the drain and they can't even do anything at all???? I spent over 500$ here this month and would have spent even more if they would have just at least tried to do something to make this right.
