Doing a web search, Metro was one of many home inspection companies that had a straight-forward website and online booking. However, what set Metro apart from the others is that they listed the available days and time slots that they had inspectors available. They even had the name of the most probable (subject to change) inspector to make the appointment. That was important because I knew when the home we were considering was available to be opened, and I could quickly line up a day/time that worked out for both sides. After the appointment was set, I was called by one of the staff. She called to "talk me out of" the radon and pest inspection services (extra charge) because of the type of home and area it was located, those services were not valuable. The cherry on top was that for the month, they were giving a "gold" discount on the overall cost. Inspection went as planned and I received the final report by the end of the same day. I never had to state that I needed a quick turnaround, but I get the sense they knew based on the dates of our real estate transaction. Just superb service, and really made me feel I could not get as good of a service with any of the other inspection companies I was considering. If we ever buy another property in the metro Boston area, I'm using Metro 100%!

Ray's price came out to be very competitive, in addition to being immediately responsive to my Yelp message inquiries. His website is also nicely designed, I'd say better than many other home inspection websites. I didn't see a sample report on his website but messaged him and Ray emailed a sample copy right away. While there was no recommended Yelp review when we chose him, I did see some other Google reviews for his company and verified his license on the Massachusetts website (https://elicensing.mass.gov/CitizenAccess/GeneralProperty/PropertyLookUp.aspx?isLicensee=Y).   On the inspection day, Ray arrived a few minutes earlier than the agreed time. He was very thorough and knowledgeable. You can tell he is passionate about what he does. He sent his report the same day and it was easy to read and understand. You do have to sign an agreement before the service, but mine went to my junk folder and I didn't see it until after the inspection. Here are some important details that may be relevant to others: COVID 19 Procedures in place: Inspector will wear mask and gloves, as well as practice social distancing. Anyone attending the inspection is required to wear a mask. We ask that you limit attendees, or take turns inside the home to be able to appropriately distance from others. The agreement is available for electronic signature. REPORT DELIVERY: Emailed within 24 hours to you and your agent (with your permission), with high quality photos included. UTILITIES: Please make sure the utilities (water, gas, electric) are on so the inspection does not have to be rescheduled. ATTIC ACCESS: The inspector needs clear access to the attic on your behalf. The inspector cannot move belonging's to gain access. CANCELLATION POLICY: There will be a $250 cancellation fee for any cancellation with less than 24 hour notice. You must call the office at 978-443-8598 to cancel. You will receive a text confirmation that the inspection has been cancelled. If you do not receive that, please call to confirm. Thank you for your cooperation. For other cancellations, any fees that were paid by credit card will be refunded less a 5% processing fee. Thank you Ray for the home inspection! He arrived at the house before we did, and had filled out all of the necessary paperwork to get the inspection rolling the night before. The inspection itself was incredibly thorough, which was wonderful, because as we went through the house with Harold, it was clear that the house needed more work than we had thought when we made our offer. There were many problems (costly problems that also would have grown into health hazards) he pointed out to us -- but that had been concealed to the untrained eye. Harold emailed us an extremely detailed report later that night with pictures, and clear language and recommendations. We determined that we were not going to buy the house, and we have Harold to thank for helping us to avoid huge issues down the road.
