    Seafood paella

Had lunch here while attending the Castro Valley Fall Fest this past weekend. Got the seafood paella combo with a rib eye skewer, and the chimichurri skewer trio which comes with rib eye, chicken, and shrimp. Everything was amazing, that ribeye especially had so much flavor, but the shrimp, rice, all of the ingredients made for a very satisfying meal. We also tried the empanada, and the crust had a nice flaky exterior with a delicious mix of chicken and veggies inside. There was no line to order at the food stand, service was efficient, and the wait for our items was reasonable, just 5-10 minutes.

Looking for an amazing food and catering service? I highly recommend Coastal Paella for any food catering service. Chef Tony and his team were amazing. The food was well presented, everything was so tasty and seafood paella was the crowds favorite. My guest were not only happy with the food, but they were so enticed by the colorful and beautiful presentation. The food recommendation by Chef Tony was perfect for our big company event. I couldn't wait to have them again to serve for our next gathering or event. Such a great food experience and definitely recommend it!

Coastal Paella came through on Valentine's Day big time! My bf and I were blown away by the seafood paella, steak, creme brule, and chocolate covered strawberries that were delivered. They offered a special Valentine's Day meal and were so accommodating. The red rose was a nice touch too! Thank you, Tony and Winnie for a remarkable Valentine's Day meal.

Coastal Paella did a fantastic job catering a small graduation party at my home. The paella was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. I ordered for a party of 50 and Coastal Paella provided more than enough to keep my hungry guests satisfied! The paella was a hit with the entire crowd!

I love the New Orleans food scene and therefore had a pretty high bar for Cajun food outside of Louisiana. I came in a little hesitant because I've been disappointed too many times by the options we have in the bay for Cajun food. But after I opened the box and took my first bite of that blackened shrimp Po Boy I could've sworn I thought I was sitting in the French Quarter again. The nice young lady that took my order recommended the blackened shrimp as an underrated choice on the po boys so I had to try it out. I came stuffed with a Red wine coleslaw, tomatoes, pickle slices and a drizzle of their special sauce (that I can only describe as spicy cajun mayo). 12/10 and I'm not exaggerating I also had a side (and when I say side take it with a grain of salt cause this feeds like 3 people for being a side) of the fresh Crab fries. Not overdone with the ingredients yet what a powerful hit of flavor, the Cajun seasoning usually comes out a bit salty on fries but these guys figured out how to balance it with the fresh shredded crab on top, garnished off with some green onion and more special sauce, this thing made me look around the room to see if anyone else was reacting like this over the food. (And they were! People were sitting there talking about "last time I tried ___ and ___ and it was fire") In the end I saw a guy that looked very proud to be there and was helping around the place while running back to his computer, that was Brett, the owner. I had to go and shake the man's hand and pick his mind a bit. He's a born and raised in New Orleans guy and you could tell by his kindness and southern hospitality. (Dude gave me a delicious carrot cake to go) Unfortunately in the end I had to walk back out into the reminder that I was in Castro valley and not New Orleans but for minute I was able to remember everything that had previously experienced from my trips there and that's what a great meal should do for you. His city should be proud of what he created here. I will absolutely be back to work my way through the full menu and add more pics to this review.

The batter and crunch from the fish and shrimp was delicious. I didn't finish my grist and had them the next day and just as good. Brussels sprouts could have been chopped in 1/4 to get more sauce on them or cooked a little more tender. The Jambalaya was seasoned perfectly for me. The beignets were very dense and not light on the inside, maybe skip those next time. The brown sugar lemonade was on point!! Would recommend for a brunch date on a the weekends. The staff were helpful and responsive. Food came out quickly and the music set the ambiance

While I was unfamiliar with ordering food for a large number of people, Priscilla helped recommend the amount of food for the requirements, "I don't want to run out of food during the event" and "we love desserts". Another side note: I was catering snacks rather than a meal. I ended up ordering - tri-tip - mashed potatoes - roasted veggies - assorted bread - lemon garlic salmon - veggie garlic pasta - Greek salad - dinner rolls - fresh fruit display - fresh fruit tarts - petit fours - gluten free mini cupcakes: red velvet, chocolate, vanilla, lemon I appreciate that Priscilla suggested to halve the salmon fillets to have double the number of salmon pieces for guests to have snack portions rather than meal portions. Although mini cupcakes were not listed on her menu, she was able to provide them. Also, you can ask her about gluten free desserts. You can have more than just macarons. Compliments I received... "Did you make the food? The salmon and tri-tip were so juicy." "This is better than most wedding food." 2 people inquired who I used to cater for the event. I received general praise that the food was good. I received explicit praise that the petit fours and fruit tarts were good. The mashed potatoes were thick but good. Passion for catering's setup and tear down went smoothly. It was maybe 20-30 minutes of setup and 10 minutes of tear down. I appreciate that they were able to provide decor for the food tables. They also provided some takeout containers for us to take leftover food. 10/10 would cater from them again.

This business is located across the street from the union city bart station. There's a parking lot on site and street parking in front but not too much. Inside is clean and modern decor with a traditional mexican vibe, if that's possible. Next to the counter is a salsa bar with other forget me nots such as onions, jalapeños, radishes etc. I ordered a few tacos to get a feel for their strengths and weaknesses in their meats. If you know me, you know my philosophy on taquerias and taco trucks. You cant judge off of one item because you might miss out on their main focused dish. Anyway, I got a steak, al pastor, Chile verde and the 2 different shrimp variant tacos. All of them checked out, not a single weakness on the menu. The salsa was on the more bland side. If they bring some more heat or flavor, this place could be unstoppable. Especially for the area, because I haven't really found a spot I could put my name next to. All in all, this is an authentic mexican joint that can be enjoyed by all walks of life. The service was great, as well.. the staff was friendly and patient, answering all of our questions. I definitely recommend this place

I had roughly 26 employees to feed. Turns out we had enough and enough for some take home plates. The food was delicious. The guac tasted so fresh and the salsa too - yum! Everyone enjoyed the food and asked for me to order from them again. I will be going there for myself to try out the other items.

We have our favorites from their menu but they host a variety of curries, proteins, and small bites/street eats. Panipuri - crispy balls ready to be loaded up with lentils, delicious fillings and sauces, these mouthfuls are great for starters but you'll find yourself eating these throughout the meal not only because you're hungry but also because you just can't get enough of them. Samosas - hearty fried dumplings packed with potatoes that are perfect for eating on the go. Great by itself or with sauces and curry, these hot pockets are a burst of flavor that will stuff you up. Goat curry - full of flavor and a bit on the spicy end for those sensitive to capsaicin. Pair with naan or rice and you'll be golden, from the tastes you'll be experience as well as the heat! Butter paneer/chicken - the sweetness of the curry is subtle but the creaminess is what will win you over. Smothered over chicken or paneer, this is a delicious palate pleaser. Biryani - solid staple, flavorful and cooked perfectly. Great by itself or paired with some curry or a grilled entree. Salmon - delicious but a bit overcooked for my liking but in a pinch, omega-3s can be supplemented in this meal. Overall, Phulkari satisfies our craving for Indian curry any day and it's great knowing that the experience will consistently be a good one anytime those cravings come up. We haven't had a chance to dine in but would welcome the opportunity to visit for a sit down. For now, they're still our go-to for Indian cuisine when we are in the area. Unsure of where you'll end up settling for food or not having the time or space to cook an elaborate meal packed with flavors and aromas? Phulkari pulls through as the restaurant of choice!

While the food eventually arrived, the experience leading up to and during the event was fraught with unnecessary stress. Initial communication was great, but it trailed off as we got closer to the date. Despite their "quick response" phone number, my calls and texts went completely ignored. To make matters worse, the voicemail changed from a personal greeting to a generic one 72 hours before my event, leaving me terrified that we had been scammed. We increased our headcount from 65 to 75 a week prior. After being told this was fine, I was sent an incorrect invoice that ignored the new guest count and asked for a second $300 deposit I had already paid. It took multiple follow-up emails just to get a confirmation on the final numbers. On the day of, the staff arrived promptly and set up on time. However, only 30 minutes into service--with only 30 of our 75 guests fed--they completely ran out of cilantro, onions, and grilled peppers. When I followed up the next day, they claimed they prepared for "70 guests." Even if that were true, it wasn't the 75 we paid for, and it certainly doesn't explain running out of basic toppings after 30 people. I'm incredibly glad we didn't use them for our wedding last year as originally planned. It's disappointing when the service doesn't match the reputation. 2 stars for due prompt service and the guests that got all the food really enjoyed the steak & shrimp.
