We switched to Coastal Payroll during Covid. Originally, we had fantastic service. The last 6 months we have had an issue with somebody answering the phone. When having a payroll issue while processing payroll, nobody is available. You will simply get a voicemail. This website is difficult to navigate you can't easily go from one page to another it will tell you it's taking several minutes to load. When you login sometimes the pages are completely covered except for a small portion of the corners. Trying to do something simple like see your payroll history from direct deposit is not an easy task. I do not recommend this company. read more

Before Coastal, I was with "the other guys" and it was poor service, not cost, that prompted my switch, so I believe I have more than sufficient experience to judge Coastal Payroll, a superior organization for running payroll for an LLC or S-corp. What sets Coastal apart is their concern for their clients. Coastal payroll specialists are always willing to take a call and straighten out an issue or talk through a payroll change and are willing to communicate so that the inevitable changes are made with both the specialist and the client in perfect agreement. Pathetic excuse of a payroll provider. So many errors and mistakes on physical module, online/mobile software is a joke so limited and useless. If you want a REAL Provider i suggest PAYCHEX or EVEN ADP over this trash. to end the note the "trainer" that we got assigned to go over the aspects and functionalities of the new provider was very aggressive and seemed to know nothing, also they hide information so ask as many questions as you may need or they will not give you the information. overall she was very unprofessional and you know they are when they don't offer the opportunity for us to give feedback based in the performance and satisfaction of the pathetic presentation. shady business when it comes to "don't ask they wont tell" with these guys. stay away and report malpractices. read more

We have been with Coastal Payroll since 2014, I normally dont like to write bad reviews but they have done nothing but mess up my payroll over and over again! They have either over paid employees and had to ask the employee to pay the company back or over charge my payroll of $100,000 and caused my bank account to be over $60,000 negative causing my business to be severely affected by it. Their way of making it right is to reverse it which would take 4 days or for me to call my bank to see if they can cancel it. I spent over 2 hours on the phone with my bank trying to get it cancelled and they could only help me as much as they could. I have never had so many problems with a payroll company in all the years I have been running a business! read more

We worked with Coastal Payroll for a few months before we made the switch, and have been with them for a few years now. The change over from one of the big national companies was painless, and the improvement in our total payroll experience was great. Although we do not need to be reminded to do our payroll, when we do have situations that come up, Jonathan and the entire staff have been there for us. We are a company of less than 20 people, and do not have a HR department or a payroll specialist and the advice and assistance is useful and needed. Our 401K, benefits, vacation and wellness pay programs are all included in our payroll, making life easier and simpler. Our people appriciate the added detail they recieve each paycheck. I also tell you that our payroll service cost went down, and service went up when we went with Coastal. This is the first time I've wanted to have a 6th star. These folks are that good. Our business has been with Coastal and using their payroll services since 2012. Initially I was given a very rookie payroll specialist and after many mistakes, they switched me over to a senior specialist and we had been very happy. The owner sat at our office and wanted to make sure we were happy and implemented the change. I had even deleted my 2012 yelp review. Now 5 year later and they are no longer a new company the customer service has declined. They just took away the specialist that I have been working directly with for over 5 years and gave us a new member of their staff.
