Falling behind on this, I was pushing late Nov to get new insulation installed and panicking as temps dropped daily. Robert / Attic Air were booked through the end of the year but they found time to fit me in for 800 sq ft (I think by working an unscheduled vacation Sat morning). They did a great job! They use the Owens Corning fiberglass, non-toxic and clean! Did not try to push or upsell me. Didn't push the toxic cellulose (don't want toxic pesticide saturated paper in my attic, we breadth that air!). They are pros and they do insulation very well!

ARC…read moreprovided a quote ( without visiting our home) that included the following sentence, "Please confirm exterior walls are framed 2x4". I told the rep that other companies have inspected our home and stated that our walls are suitable for blown in insulation. ARC never came to visit our home - while their competitors did this as a standard account management cycle. Fast forward to this week, I was ready to sign the agreement and pay the deposit - the rep asked me to confirm the 2x4 framing. I asked him how he wanted me to do this - he suggested I drill pilot holes in each wall or pay a 3rd party to do this and that ARC was not responsible for verifying the details of our home. Not responsible for validating a critical project detail before having you customer pay thousands of dollars?! Extremely poor customer service and frankly, a lazy sales team. I am sure the crews doing the work are great, but the accounts team could use a refresh. I will work with a competitor unless ARC has employees willing to visit their prospective customers!

Tl;dr They gave a detailed quote but didn't follow it. Had to be called out to Nicor Gas so they…read morewould do the work as expected. They will try to get away with cutting corners. My experience with Green Attic Insulation was a months long headache since the initial install. I was quoted for air sealing the attic, attic insulation, and rim joist spray foam. The quote was very detailed with specific line items for every part. The rebates were also a line item. The first concern was the salesman said I qualify for the Nicor Gas attic insulation rebate, and during this project I found out that I was never eligible because the R-value of the existing insulation was too high. They arrived on the project day and immediately got started. Since they were insulating the rim joist with spray foam they recommended leaving the house during the install to avoid the gasses from the foam curing since I have a dog. I was told by the crew that they would call when they were done (they don't give me their number). So I make sure they have what they need and left at 10am. 5pm passes... 6pm passes... Finally at 8pm I head home because they have to be done by now. Obviously their office is closed this late but I leave messages and such that I was never told it was okay to come back or anything. I inspect the foam and there is plenty of overspray on the finished wood trim, walls, and a little on the carpet. Funny part is that the overspray is on easy to reach sections while the harder/tighter sections were almost perfect. Some fiberglass batt fragments could be seen in the foam even though batt removal and disposal was a line item on the quote and this reduces the insulation of the foam. I ask for the overspray to be removed since I don't want to damage paint while trying to remove it myself. I also ask for pictures of the work in the attic and the results of the pre- and post- door blower test required for the air sealing rebate. Green Attic Insulation took months to actually fulfill the quoted line items. Sent pictures from the original project day months later after Nicor quality control looked at their work and put pressure on them to follow their own quote. Never sent the door blower results. Never even submitted the rebate to Nicor despite it being a line item. The rebate would make them quantity the effectiveness of the air sealing but since they never submitted a rebate and won't show the results there's no way to know how well they did. Nicor found that Green Attic hadn't blown enough insulation into the attic according to the quote's line item but they weren't going to fix that without being called out.
