Muir Woods is simply a beautiful and awesome place to visit…read more This place is so relaxing, beautiful, and amazing. Your senses will come into play as you will see, feel, smell, and hear nature. You will walk amongst the giant redwood trees and be amazed that the tops of the trees are nowhere to be seen, as they appear to go on forever. Once you leave the 1.5 miles of paved or boardwalked trails, there are several other trails, ranging from casual to more challenging, that guests can experience and explore. The 1.5-mile paved loop trail is great and convenient for those seeking a very nice, casual stroll, including guests who require a wheelchair or a stroller. There are benches throughout the paved trail for those needing a rest, to sit and people-watch, or to enjoy nature. There are large, clean bathrooms both just outside the park and inside. There is a gift shop and snack bar inside the park, with seating and tables available. Reservations for admission are not required, but they do make the entry experience much easier. Reservations for parking ARE MANDATORY! This is very important as you will NOT be allowed to park your vehicle in any of the limited parking areas. There is a shuttle service available that takes you from a huge parking lot (free parking on weekends) miles away and drops you off at the main entrance. This is the way to go, as the total price for this shuttle is $4.00 round trip per person, and reservations are required. This is the shuttle service my family and I used, and it worked out perfectly. Reservations and additional information for the shuttle service and entry into Muir Woods can found and made online at: gomuirwoods.com I hope you all get to visit and experience Muir Woods

I enjoyed seeing the banana slugs along the trail. I came here on a Saturday at noon and spent about 2.5 hours here. It seem to be quite busy when we left. You must have reservations when you visit.

Tam Bikes is one of those rare shops that turns a purchase into a long-term relationship. We bought…read moretwo EMTBs from them, and somewhere along the way it stopped feeling like we were just customers and started feeling like we had a go-to crew for anything bike related. That kind of loyalty is earned, and they earned it fast. From the beginning, the level of service stood out. They took the time to really walk us through options, made sure the bikes actually fit how and where we ride, and never once made it feel rushed or transactional. Even after the purchase, they have been just as dialed in. Questions, adjustments, tune-ups, it is all handled with the same level of care and attention. Honestly, they have set the standard for what a bike shop should feel like. The bikes are incredible, but it is the people that make the difference. We ride more because of them, we trust their recommendations, and we know we are taken care of every time we walk in. Customers for life is not something we say lightly, but here it just fits.

Average bike shop. My only disappointment is how the service department interacted with me. I actually did have a pretty good idea of the problem, and after he did a quick diagnoses, came to the same conclusion. He just seemed to want to make it clear that he knew more about my bike than I did. And when I asked how long it would take, it seemed like it was an imposition to do so because they are "so" busy. They fixed it in good order but they could use a lesson in customer interaction.

I found that the trails and roads were in pretty good shape, but keep in mind that some of them are pretty steep. Also note on the map which ones are good for bikes and which ones are not suitable for bikes. On My Le summer bike ride through this preserve, I happen to encounter a volunteer. This nice gentleman goes through the parks and make sure that everything is safe and in good shape. I suggested that they have maps at the entrance, rather than just a board

It's not cliche to add "but I really enjoy remaining alive". So first things first: * Keep yourself and your dog - and anything else you cherish - close and hug the mountain. If you're heading up, stay far to the right and as close to the mountain as possible. If you're headed down, continue to stay there, even if it feels like you're walking in the wrong "lane". * Pray that the mountain bikers racing down the mountain stay in the outside "lane", have excellent brakes, vigilance, and a conscience. I wish there were signs that explained these rules but there aren't. Don't learn the hard way. There's a lot of options here. After street parking on West Blithedale, I hiked about 45 minutes up to a great viewpoint with a bench. At this point, there's an auto barrier which allows walk-ins and bike-ins. I went no further but was told that continuing on leads to a paved road then another fire road leading to many additional trails. (To get to this place, I took the path on the left when there was an option. Path on the left but keep hugging the mountain). To this point, the hike isn't difficult. The incline is gradual but the wide path is rocky so wear sturdy shoes. Others have reported this trail as sunny and hot but I experienced normal Mill Valley weather (cool and overcast). My dog and I generally enjoy a hike that doesn't entail fearing for our lives. By that measure, this isn't really a great place. I did like the ease of access and the long, gentle slope of the trail (at least the part I hiked) and for that I'd make a return visit. There's probably a law against even thinking this in Marin, but this would be a 4-star hike for me if we could ban the mountain bikers. Until then, no.
