We can't say enough about the high level of service Ian provided us immediately after the accident occurred - getting us connected with claims and staying on the phone with us with the claims agent, helping us navigate the tow truck situation so the city didn't impound our car unnecessarily, staying on the phone with us until friends came to pick us up because it was dark outside and following up with us the day after to make sure we were alright still and if we had any questions about the claims process. In a day and age where insurance is a commodity and there are no shortage of providers competing on cost, it is baffling how little effort he exerts - when was the last time you ever dealt with an agent themselves, and not the parent company? The gaps and lack of attention to detail from his staff over the years have been alarming. When a vehicle I owned was declared a total loss, State Farm cut me a check. Jerry's office sent me a bill for the vehicle a few weeks later. That was a nice surprise. When I recently called in to discuss an unrelated matter, I dealt with a rude employee, a staff member named Maria Corona. I don't have the time or patience for sass and disrespect from a commoditized service in this day and age. I learned she was also rude to a family member who also did business with Jerry, and we're both taking our business elsewhere. I used State Farm because my family did, I never gave much thought to it - easy money for ol boy Selvitella - until these disappointing experiences. The straw that broke the back was this insanely bland and banal email that he either let someone send on his behalf or didn't even bother to take the time to use my name - I told State Farm I'd rather lapse a policy or change agents. They placed me with a new agent. 10 minutes later I get a call from the ol boy himself wanting to talk about it. I call back when I'm free because unlike him I work standard business hours. His staff lets me know he's "offline for the day", ma'am it's 3:45pm, c'mon now. Then I get this email, mentioning how he and his wife were allegedly cooking for a woman and I'm just stunned. Philanthropy is great but maybe you should be available during the week during your stated hours of operation? Circus clown behavior, tom foolery, take your business elsewhere.

Even if they couldn't write me a policy, I at least wanted to discuss what my options were. Get some clarity on the very confusing insurance process you know? First I couldn't get through to anyone when I called. The receptionist or person who answered sent me to quotes dept like 5 times and no one would answer. They blamed it on "high volume" of customers or whatever. But how do you not have a process to respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner? I can't wait 2 weeks to get a damn quote. I'll just go somewhere else. The person in quotes dept Sheryl was rude and had terrible customer service. She made up excuses about why they couldn't get back to me in time. I filled out their form online explaining what I wanted in my policy and a little of my situation. First I got this rude email (I think she wrote it) telling me they didn't want to talk to me and couldn't write me a policy. The email was short with very little explanation why. Then when I called AGAIN for the 6th time to finally get SOMEONE to talk to me, Sheryl rudely just refused to talk or listen to me, kept repeating over and over how they couldn't write me a policy and basically told me to go away. No solutions, no help, no suggestions on how to fix my situation. Look if you can't write me a policy, fine. I get it. But don't leave a customer twisting in the wind. At least take the time to answer my questions and give me suggestions on where I CAN get help. It's basic decency and politeness. Be warned everyone! Customer service at this place has gone very downhill recently. You're better off going elsewhere!
