IF YOU LIKE TO WAIT ON A PART FOR OVER A MONTH TO FIND OUT THAT HE HASN'T EVEN STARTED WORKING ON IT...COATES IS YOUR MAN...except that he's hardly a proper businessman! This guy doesn't even answer his phone to schedule drop-offs or pick-ups! The only way to accomplish this is to go over to his rental space on Taylor and hope that he's there and done what he promised to do...which in my experience is just about NEVER! His excuse (after he quotes you something and you agree to his price) is "I'm not making anything on this" so similarly he'll make no effort to earn your business. He promised to complete my job over the previous weekend after FIVE weeks waiting! He doesn't answer his phone today (Monday) for me to confirm that he's done anything. I have to drive over there knowing that he probably hasn't and sure enough he hadn't. Steer clear of this guy like the flu. He respects no one and hasn't a clue about doing business right. Besides I could teach a willing monkey to spray paint metal and bake it- in far less time than he spent blowing me off for the month of November. P.S. Coates in his tiny 500 sq.ft. space but charges the same price for ONE THIN COAT of ceramic paint (the only product he has to purchase) the rest of his costs are minimum wage labor and keeping a small oven at temperature- AS A LEGITIMATE FULL SIZE FACILITY in a $1,000.000 building that applies TWO or more coats of ceramic product. Take you pick. More so if you haven't guessed...few if any of the forty-four reviewers cited here are actual customers of Coates. I know some of them and they are ""shills" who wrote bogus reviews so Coates could try to manipulate his reputation on this and other sites. He doesn't bother with receipts and primarily accepts cash so who would ever know the difference unless they actually "pondered" these bogus positive reviews. I dropped off 7 small items on April 14th and April 21st to be coated. 4 automotive pulleys, a turbo compressor housing, and a water pump front and back piece. Initially when I dropped off the items, i was told turn around time was 1 week, as he will do them between "bigger jobs", so I was ok with it, and the price, so i decided to drop them off and get the work done. I wasn't told how it would look, what to expect, or anything. I reached out on the April 26th, to ask what updates were on the piece. Some pieces had been there 2 weeks already. He hadn't started, and said that he will make sure to get them done sometime that week. I agreed. One week goes by, no contact, so i reach out on May 7th, and its delayed, and "will be done by the weekend". May 14 comes around and all of a sudden they have issues with the guns, they have contamination in their spray, and powder, and it set him back in a lot of work. He acknowledges he should have gotten my work done by now, as it has been a month, 3 WEEKS LONGER than expected. May 21st comes around, i ask how things were, and he said "I'm trying to get caught back up now". I ask one last time on may 22nd when i can get my pieces, and no response. Finally i go to his location and i ask the status in person. They say they will TRY to get it done by tomorrow. At this point i was just upset with the company and him, I knew he wasn't going to get it done, and I just ask to have my stuff back and I'm on my way. 7 WEEKS of time wasted. Nothing was touched, nothing was even done in the 7 weeks of my parts sitting there. My car was waiting only on the parts i had dropped off and he had no intention of working on them, he just didnt want to tell me. I am very disappointed in his unprofessionalism and lack of urgency in this matter. If it wasn't for him i would have had my car done already and would be on my way with my project car finished. I felt that because my parts were not a big part that will get him lots of money, like wheels, or frames, or anything else with more surface area, i was basically denied the work ultimately and i am very upset with this company. I do not recommend him as he will just say yes to your work, and work on other items as your sit there collecting dust. If you have small parts needing coating, DO NOT go here as you will have to wait longer than expected. The other reviews that say fast turnaround time have bigger items, so they have priority in his eyes, and not every customer that needs work done. He has only eyes for big money and not small items. A word of advice, if you cant take on more work, don't accept it and give false promises to your customers. Truthfulness in a company is move valuable than volume. I'd rather go to a small business with better values instead a company that has high volume. read more
