I visited Capital CJD to look at a new Jeep for a purchase. It was easily the worst experience…read moreI've ever experienced at a new car dealership. The salesperson that assisted me was incredibly boorish and did a very poor job with the sales process, as well as not emphasizing the value proposition of a Jeep versus the competition. This person's performance not only convinced me to purchase my vehicle from someone else, but also to purchase a Ford. The only reason I'm giving a two-star review is because I eventually got to take a vehicle on a test drive. For the life of me I do not understand why the showroom features a used Mercedes Benz G class instead of a Jeep product. Jeep's flagship vehicle, the Grand Wagoneer, was stuck in the back of the showroom instead of being the vehicle you see front and center when you walk in the door.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee had zero dashboard lights and ran perfectly before they touched it. Today, my "SERV 4WD" and Traction Control lights came on. I brought it back, and they handed me a shocking $3,457.20 quote to replace the entire transfer case based on code ABS U0403-00 (Implausible data received). A U-code means an electrical communication issue, not a mechanical failure. Grand Cherokee dual batteries are notoriously tight and difficult to swap, and wiring is easily disturbed during an alignment. Instead of checking if their technician accidentally yanked or loose-fitted a wiring harness two weeks ago, they just chose to throw a $3,400 parts cannon at me to cover their own mistake. I refused to sign and took my car to an honest independent shop. Do NOT trust their service department. I am reporting this to Jeep Corporate and the BBB.

I saw a Toyota Van like i was looking for on FB Market place that Shumaker Motors had posted. I messaged Barbara and to my surprise she responded right back to me so very nice and not pushy at all like a lot of sales people are. I set up a appointmen for 10:00 this morning and i couldn't make it due to over sleeping. I messaged Barbara and told her that i woulden't be there at that time and i would be there later in the afternoon. Again to my surprise she was very nice to me. I got there about 3:30-4:00 and the Van was exactly like i wanted. Chris and i went on a test drive for about 20 minutes or so. For the first time in my life dealing with someone Chris encouraged me to really hammer down on the highway to check it out real good. I had already researched the reviews on the Van and knew what i was geting. To my surprise Chris was really up to date on everything about the Van and he was very honest with me. Believe me i have never met anyone as honest and professional as Chris and Barbara are. THEY treat and taik to you with respect and pride. You are a Valued Costomer. I will be going back in the morning to pick up my Van, I encourage everyone wanting a vehicle to go see Chris and Barbara. I promise you will be very happy. It was a Blessing from God that i saw the posting on FB Marketplace. Thank you again Chris and Barbara Shumaker. I am a very happy Customer and i will be Highly Recomending Shumaker Motors.

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with some very nice people at Capital Chrysler…read moreJeep Dodge...and some seemingly underhanded tactics (may have been being very cautious and thorough, but read to the end and be the judge...) I had the pleasure of speaking with service advisor, April Morgan. She was so warm and welcoming, you would have thought she was my Aunt or an old friend and we were planning a lunch or dinner. She was accommodating, friendly, and a genuinely happy person. She's a pleasure to speak with! Everyone was friendly to me, and I felt that I was treated with respect and that my concerns were sincerely addressed by Ms. April, the gentleman in parts (Dave/David?), and the technician (Andrew/Anthony?) who was kind enough to put my car back on the rack to point out the parts which I was informed needed replaced... - and that's where this review peaks, and begins to descend... Either this dealership is incredibly thorough and concerned about the safety of their customers, or they are preying upon those who they hedge their bets on not being savvy to the mechanical needs of a vehicle. In this instance, I was not the one... I was informed that my car, a 2005 PT Cruiser Convertible needed tie rod ends, ball joints, and boots/covers, and that the parts were available for replacement. My car is older, but has fairly low mileage, and it was meticulously maintained by the previous owner, as the records indicate. Records I happened to have with me at the time, and had reviewed because I like to know my vehicles inside and out. For example, less than 10,000 miles prior to Capital Chrysler Jeep Dodge's recommendation for parts, the upper and lower control arms were replaced, brake fluid flushed, brakes replaced, an alignment performed, and other items addressed (I don't have the records in front of me). Further, my car passed the Virginia State inspection, was thoroughly gone over by a reputable dealership in Virginia where I purchased it, passed North Carolina State inspection. The icing on this trail of my car's history, is that on my trip to Wisconsin, I stopped at National Tire and Battery to have the balance on the wheels checked (poor Pete had sat a lot in his long life). The manager of the shop said whoever owned the car prior to me had put a lot of money into keeping the car nice, as the 'front end' looked brand new. All that said, perhaps the mechanics that worked on the car for the previous owner who kept it up so meticulously, missed the tie rod ends and ball joints. Perhaps the Virginia State and North Carolina State inspectors missed such a component; keep in mind that I watched the North Carolina technician grab on each of the wheels and push/pull to check for play. Maybe National Tire and Battery said nothing about these parts, despite mentioning the lengths/expense that the previous owner went to in order to keep this car in tip top shape. I will say that the technician was kind enough to pull Pete back into the bay and put it on the rack to show me what they were concerned about. There was some grease at the tie rod ends/boots, an area that grease is pumped into via a zerk fitting...Now, I'm not under a lot of cars any more these days, BUT I do remember that there is often a lot of grease at friction points, hence having zerk fittings so that fresh grease can be added as needed (at oil change intervals etc) I don't recall being shown why the ball joints were suggested to be replaced, but it is likely that they pointed this out as well (by this time, I wasn't putting much credibility into what I was hearing...) After my questions, and sharing the maintenance records, it ends up that these parts aren't in need of immediate attention, and that I shouldn't worry about it being unsafe "for a while". So, for what it's worth, if you feel that you're being told to do work prematurely, please feel free to take your car to another shop to be sure that you're not being sold a bill of goods.

Terrible service. I…read morebrought my Jeep in after it was vandalized and someone put an unknown substance into the gas tank. To avoid causing any damage, I had it towed to the dealership instead of driving it. My appointment was scheduled for the following day, so the vehicle was supposed to remain parked until then. Instead, I started receiving notifications from the Jeep app that my vehicle was being driven. According to the tracker, it was taken on about a 20-mile drive before anyone had even inspected the gas tank or determined whether it was safe to operate. The next day, the service advisor told me they had checked the vehicle's computer and found no issues, but that they could drop the fuel tank and take a fuel sample to verify everything was okay. I agreed because that was the reason I brought it in. When I picked up the Jeep, I assumed everything had been done correctly. After I got home and inspected it, I found that the technician had never reinstalled the gas cap--it was left hanging by the tether. Driving a customer's vehicle before verifying it was safe, then returning it with something as basic as the gas cap left off, does not inspire confidence that the work was performed carefully. Based on this experience, I can't recommend this service department. No value in coming here even if you have a warranty

Immediately informed Carvana and got in touch with silver rock. They referred us to Firestone which the next day the balance and alignment were fine and couldn't find the issue. Called silver rock again and allowed us by referral to be seen at the dealership. At 0900, after my husband completed his procedure at the hospital, we believed this was a simple process. This vehicle was being sold with bad tires and it is not our fault. To our complete surprise, we were at the dealer for over 5 hours, being informed it may be over 24 hours for a decision, being told you may need to exchange (I told them I'm happy with the vehicle why is the option for exchange is it because you don't want to cover new tires??) the tires were considered undriveable and safety hazard. That is a question upon selling your vehicle about tires in which Carvana failed to identify. We were extremely frustrated and it took the Volvo service tech and manager stating "you should do better these customers have been here over 5 hours". Ultimately it was finally approved but both my wife and I were on the phones from being hung up on to just wait (this is close to closing time for the dealer). We were told to get possibly a rental in which they did not have and this is our primary vehicle for the family!!! I have bought 3 other vehicles with Carvana without issue to include working with silver rock with absolutely no issues. This is the FIRST time to go through this process and makes me doubt the efficiency and care to really take a look of vehicles being sold to making them available to sell. Safety hazard could have been life altering in which we had no idea. The entire 7 days were used to fix this issue! I was disconnected a few times from silver rock cause there were no explanation and honestly no sense of urgency to resolve knowing we were waiting that long. I am extremely disappointed with this vehicle purchase and truly silver rocks process of resolution. I am thankful we did not get the warranty for purchase and may be our last to buy from Carvana giving how we were handled.
