Rooms are updated and clean. The pillows, which can make or break your stay were middle of the pack for me, but that's personal preference. (and it might be because my big old head needs more support) The only time we saw other guests was during breakfast. and wow did we see the other guests! We woke up relatively early thinking we wouldn't have a problem getting in & finding a table. Well, apparently everyone else also had this idea. The place was packed! It's worth noting that the breakfast area is super small, so it may be in your best interest to come at an off time. Or take it back to your room. Overall this is a great place to stay!

I arrived and was greeted, no issues with check in... pretty simple. I had been driving all day and wanted to work off some stiffness. I hit the gym and pool. This is where it started to go downhill. The treadmill, bike, freeweights, and cable machine... were all damaged or broken. So, it basically killed that idea. I instead got in the pool and swam a few laps. When i was done, i got out dried off and went back outside where some individuals were having a very loud, very racist, conversation... i went next door to McAlisters and snagged some food then went back to my room. There was a family staying across from me who were also sitting outside in fold up chairs. I would be under-selling it, if i didnt say that they were in and out of their rooms every 20 minutes, for 4 hours... the clicking of the door got very old. Breakfast was good. Checkout was nice... Overall the hotel was decent, but the stay was rough.

I'm driving cross country & up until now, have usually stayed at Motel 6's for the $50+ nightly…read moreprice... plus, since I'm leaving early morning each day to drive, I don't need fancy or a fridge, coffee pot or m/w... just clean. But, they've become awful places to stay in the past 2-yrs, mainly due to the types of dicey guests they draw & many are in terrible 'hoods. So, I was on the search for a new hotel & all I've had the displeasure of staying in, in the same price range, are absolutely deplorable... Econolodge, Red Roof Inn, Super 8, Days Inn, Budget Inn... well, all of them. In the times when I've needed to bump up to a $100+ hotel (for a better night's sleep or as nothing else was available), I've always skipped Holiday Inns as I've been to 2 & both were annoying experiences, with extremely rude front desk agents & higher than I wanted to pay prices. But, I needed to get off the road & this was the best of what was offered in the area. I'm glad I stayed, as HI's are my new go-to hotel & I even joined their rewards program for member prices. Pros: * Everything about the room... clean, updated, super comfy bed, central a/c-heat, lots of lights & outlets including a couple of USB ports, fridge, m/w, Keurig with decent coffees & teas, very nice bathroom wall caddy with upscale shampoo, conditioner & body wash, great, forceful showerhead with lots of hot water. * Super Covid clean. Not a speck of dust to be found. I make sure to tip housekeeping well for doing an extra good job. Cons: * Still, true to form, surly front desk agent... why do H Inns hire such strange rangers with dicey customer service skills? But, since I only need to see them upon check in & out, I don't care. * Price... $135 inc tax is a lot to shower, sleep & leave before sun up. * HUGE mounted TV with swivel, but... oddly, their lack of channels was surprising. Just a few & only 2 movie channels... HBO & HBO FAM, I guess, if you'd got kids tagging along. Good to know: * They won't honor any online lower price (they seem to be $20+ more as a walk-in), but will tell you to make an online reservation, if you want it. I don't get it cuz Marriotts & Hyatts often honor the lower prices... but... since I'll be in hotels for the next few weeks & may be staying in HI's for at least 1 of those weeks, I joined their IHG program. They have an app, too, so it's easy. * Even during Covid, they still offer breakfast from 6:30-9:30am... I left before then, so have no idea if they offer their usual hot breakfast or just fruit & packaged muffins. Solid 4* out of 5. -.5* for price & -.5* for the surly front desk.

So much that I was like "ya know what ... just forget it! I've changed my mind & i don't want to stay here tonight!". So me and my friend, we left and got a room over at the Quality Inn! They were at least very polite to me and didn't rush me at all! and their prices were awesome as heck!! I'll stay there next time too! SKIP this overpriced HOLIDAY INN bullcrap rudeness! She also had her meth-head boyfriend in there (i later found out that his name was Justin i believe and i guess her little child also). but it looked to me like he was dealing drugs out of that place! Cuz he sure had a lot of 'company' in & out of there!

The beds in the Rose and Lilac Rooms are Tempur-Pedic and make for a good sleep if you have a bad back. The little things go a long way here - the inn has cold bottled water constantly available and the proprietors strive to make the guests feel at home. We had an elderly relative along and he used Helen's Room which is the ADA room in the Carriage House - it was perfect for him and all went well. The breakfast is just fantastic. Buzz, our host, was a great host and made sure we were happy. There is nothing like breakfast in the dining room with the fireplace making warmth and enjoying freshly prepared breakfast. No conventional hotel can match this. Buzz also recommended some restaurants and we were most pleased with his recommendation. We really enjoyed Market Street Inn and will return in the future. If you are looking for a great Bed & Breakfast, look no further - this is it. It is worth a special trip if you are traveling on the interstates and looking for the feel of home while on the road. This exceeds anything offered by most hotels on the highway. It is a destination place to stay. I highly recommend Market Street Inn.

There is a little coffee nook on the 2nd floor with a Keurig and coffee pods. They are VERY clear on the website that you must be able to navigate a flight of stairs for 300 numbered rooms. However, the best way to navigate to the 200 rooms is also up a very steep staircase. It's a historic building so I get it, and they have tried to provide some accessibility with a lift on the outside of the building, but if accessibility is a key concern you may want to stay elsewhere.

This is not a Bed and Breakfast, no breakfast voucher either - so forget anything you read otherwise - I complained about the sign that was even in the window as you walked in stating Bed and Breakfast, which they did remove the next day. Speaking of walking in - I had to push the automatic door to the lobby open (they did fix that the next day) only to find a kiosk virtual front desk (from a different town/state who knows where, that had to call about everything that required attention). After we had drove a few hours, we did get a text to warn us that the elevator was broken (so check on that before you go, because it was still broke when we left). I had booked a room specific to 2nd floor, as my wife has some trouble with stairs after hip surgery (none on first floor, and 3rd floor only has stair access). After the steep climb with luggage (We heard some poor soul struggling to get luggage up the stairs and thought he was going to have a heart attack, but he made it before I was able to get out to help). We got settled in, but before the day was over... the TV quit working. Mr. kiosk suggested the typical things (reboot etc...) that I had already tried and had to show him a picture of the screen that showed it had no connection. He said they would have someone fix the next day after treating me like I did not know anything (I worked in IT over 40 years, I can tell when a Roku cannot connect to a network). Next day, after being out all day, came in to relax - no TV still, Mr. Kiosk said we could move to another room... OK we pack up and move to a new room, and it is super cold, go to Mr. Kiosk again because we could not find a thermostat, his solution ... we move to another room that has a thermostat we can adjust on the third floor - no - we are tired we don't want to lug up another flight of stairs, we will just get out another blanket. We did get a call at that point, and I was told the thermostat is currently in another room for the whole floor, but I can go and adjust (got there and it was set to 66), so we finally was able to settle in and watch TV for the night. (They are planning on making changes to have individual controlled, but something you might want to consider). The last day was better, but not sure we will be back even though we did like the room itself. Definitely, buyer beware - ask before booking.

A couple hours after I had checked out, and asked to be called if it was found, I went back and luckily got the manager David who knew of my dilemma. So he took me to the room for a 3rd or 4th pass. Then we went to my rental car where he engaged just as committedly. He politely asked if I was ok w/ his help, and then used his cell phone lite to look where I had already looked, felt, and told him the retainer was not. But he could see it under the seat and stuck into a gap in the floor paneling. Pretty incredible. Very incredible. Forever grateful. Above and beyond the call.
