Visiting Newport, to lazy to cook tonight. Yelp'ed for a local pizza joint, Cobblestone was close by. Called in an order at around 6:30, was told 30-35 minutes. G/F went down to pick up the pie, was back quickly, maybe less than a half hour total from when I called. She told me that the restaurant was pretty empty. Sat down to dinner, we'd ordered a half combo, half ode to olives. Holy heck - there were a lot of olives. Mostly black, a few green, and the occasional kalamata. And the combo was overflowing. All in all, a decent pie. Crust was OK, but not completely cooked. Maybe could have used a bit more cheese. A definite three stars, a possible encore is possible, if we're back in town. read more

Average pizza. Not horrible, most of the pizza eventually was eaten. The crust has excellent texture- thick with a crispy outer layer. But where the taste was, I do not know. It was like slightly sweet bread. Sauce was sweet. Not really my thing. Toppings were ok- but the onions and green peppers tasted like a previously frozen blend. Yum! Ordered 2 large pizzas during a recent stay in Newport: thick crust cheese, and stuffed crust chicken, bacon, and jalapeños on white sauce. Cons: the stuffed crust needed more cheese in it to really stuffed. The thick crust was chewier than I prefer. Neither pizza was cut well Pros: plenty of cheese on both pizzas without having to ask for extra. What happened to common sense? You're delivery address is a hotel, does common sense say "hey, this person needs plates and utensils" apparently not! Totally ruined my meal! Ordered a half Hawaiian and half Classic Italian with a side of jalapeños for delivery. Was told 45 minutes to an hour and the pie arrived at about 35 minutes. Bring an out-of-towner I had a hard time finding Cobblestone. Fortunately I was directed by a local (the nice lady at RiteAid) and was informed it was right behind the credit union, across the street from Fred Meyer. Once I had the location down it was fairly smooth sailing though if you have a larger car /SUV consider approaching on the street before it since the turn is sharp and uphill. You might drive over the curb like I did. So once inside the atmosphere was friendly and warm. They are limiting capacity since it is not a huge place, and as the sign says there are no reservations, first come first served basis. I took my order to go since dragging kids into a restaurant these days is just not a great option for us. The service was prompt and friendly. No issues. The pizza was hot and ready on time. What I found interesting and welcome is when I called in my order the young lady actually inquired with the kitchen to get a time estimate instead of just guessing like so many places do. This was really nice customer service. The taste of the pizza was great. We ordered a thick crust which was good. Crispy on the bottom, just how we like it. The price was good since this is not fast food pizza like dominoes. I would have taken a picture of the lovely pizza but we ate it all. The kids were picky as could be expected and I think they would have preferred a thin crust (or McDonald's) but my wife and I finished it for them. What happened Cobblestone?!?! The last 2 times have been so bad :(. We are regulars and always tell people to go there. We always order the same thing so it's easy to compare. Last time we just thought it was an "off" day so we let it go. Tonight was exactly the same~burned crust, very little cheese on the cheese pizza we ordered, double meatball was not and all piled toward the middle. The outer 2-3" of pizza was mostly tough, burned crust with just sauce. Something had to have changed in the last few weeks. ??? What gives? read more

We got the family special with garlic knots and a 2 liter of soda, we also got the bbq chicken pizza. The garlic knots smelled SO GOOD, but I was pretty disappointed, they smelled so garlicky but had little to no flavor other than cooked bread. The pizza was pretty delicious, I personally don't like a whole lot of crust so I ended up not eating that part but the pizza itself was really good. The service was friendly, they did take awhile to cook it up so I don't recommend taking littles with you if you're getting it to go. read more

My family had the absolute pleasure of eating at this little gem of a pizza joint tonight. The only thing that was better than the delicious pizza and tasty garlic knots was the wonderful employees. The ladies working the front of the house were working their tails off with a smile on their face the entire time. They were absolutely wonderful and had such great attitude despite COVID and people whining about not being able to dine in (capacity is limited) or about not being able to get a salad because supply was short (not sure why they felt the need to complain to the employees considering it was posted on the door and these lovely ladies had zero control over supply issues. I got a gluten free Canadian bacon and pineapple. The crust was good- not amazing, but I've had worse. I also has a Caesar salad. It was also pretty good. The dressing was homemade and tasty. Probably one of the best calzones I've had. The pizza was soo good, First was a half cheese half cheese and pep. And second one was a pesto, ricotta, and bacon. With a calzone with pep, meatballs, and sausage. We also ordered wings which had a really good kick. I felt they were seasoned well and not drenched in wing sauce (wings not pictured, since we devoured them). Very cute little place, and they have a little arcade area. Ordered this to go so we could eat it at the VBRO we were in outside of town. We ordered two medium pizzas with one being the classic Italian and the other the classic Hawaiian. They were generous with toppings. The sauce was very tasty. The crust was thick and chewy (good chewy) and brushed with garlic. When we walked in we were greated promptly and the staff was very friendly. It was done right when promised and stayed hot until we got back to our rental. We were heading up to Cannon Beach and wanted to have a good lunch before hitting the road. Pizza sounded good to everyone, and after looking at a few options, we decided to check out Cobblestone Pizza Co. Cobblestone is located in a strip mall and has that throwback pizza joint feel. They had quite a few pizza options to choose from, and the 16" "Giant" was definitely large enough to feed the family. They gave us the option of splitting the pizza up and allowed us to do 2/3 one flavor and 1/3 a different flavor. I am used to do 1/2 and 1/2, but this flexibility was great since it matched the ratios of what people wanted to eat. The 1/3 section was the Mediterranean Chicken. It had seasoned chicken, sun dried tomato, spinach, Kalamata olive, green onion, feta cheese, and alfredo sauce. The 2/3 section was the All Meat, including Canadian Bacon, salami, pepperoni, Italian sausage, Linguica, and their house tomato sauce. First off, the crust on the pizza was excellent. This is always a make it or break it for me, and the flavor and texture were great. The toppings were also top notch and plentiful. I hate it when a pizza place skimps on the toppings, and there was no skimping here. Both flavors were quite hearty and delicious. We were quite happy with our selections! You order at the counter when you arrive and then find a table if you are eating in. The soda machine is self-service which is always nice, and it was Pepsi-based, meaning Mt Dew and Dr Pepper! The pizza took a bit of time to cook, but it was well worth the wait, as it was hot and fresh and absolutely delicious. The service, though minimal, was great, and we had no complaints whatsoever. There seems to be a lot of pizza throughout the Oregon coast, but Cobblestone in Newport, in my opinion, is one of the best! read more

Last night we decided to make a change to our Cobblestone Combo pizza order. Still requested extra red sauce-- but we also requested they swap out the pepperoni for mushrooms. The combo already includes mushrooms, but we wanted to try it with even more and less meat. OMG - IT WAS SO GOOD. BEST EVER. We will always order it this way going forward. They use fresh sliced mushrooms, not from a can. My husband kept asking me WHAT DID YOU TELL THEM TO GET THIS PIZZA SO GREAT?!? All I asked was to add extra red sauce and swap out pepperoni for mushrooms. SO GOOD. So many delish mushrooms. We both can't wait for the leftovers tonight.
