Basil Old Fashioned
William D.

One of our favorite stops in Newport. Why? Basil Hayden Old fashioned, muddled cherrys, good simple syrup, well done. Barrata salad, nice pesto over some local tomatoes, arugula, balsamic, mozzarella, delicious. Garlic chunk of cheese bread & surprisingly good marinara sauce. Clam chowder, hot, rich, thick, get some. Calimari, rings only, lightly breaded, good, spicy aioli. Great service & beautiful views. Dinner reservation recommended,we eat at one of the high top tables, walk in at the bar.

The view from our table

We had a nice visit back in May 2024. I enjoyed the water view from our table, the clam chowder, and the burrata salad. My husband has several food allergies and was able to get their salmon with rice and veggies. It was very simple but as long as we can get him a full meal we're happy. I think it was a bit more expensive than some other restaurants we visited but we expected that when we walked in (and it is nice to enjoy a view with our meal on occasion, even if the food costs a bit more).

Beautiful ambiance, ocean view, amazing food, service was great! Wait time is 40-50 minutes on a weekend.

We always enjoy the food and vibe here, whether takeout or room service! Dining in is a great experience though, very warm and comforting dining space with great ocean views. Great menu selection, and the kids menu comes with a special Georgie's buck to get a prize after their meal! The appetizers are great, we always enjoy the fondue, and the fried zucchini! The service is wonderful and everyone is so kind. I do recommend making reservations ahead of time. It's well worth checking out if in Newport, especially if you're staying at the Hallmark resort!

This one was a little bit of a let down. I saw raving reviews on Google and pretty good ones on yelp and as my wife and I were staying at the Hallmark Resort, it was nice to just walk over. I ordered the chicken fried steak and pancakes. Pancakes overall were pretty decent! Fake maple syrup so if you are sensitive to that as I am. Be aware. The chicken fried steak was very disappointing. The beef had a very weird off flavor. I couldn't finish it. The breading was not crispy and the gravy was pretty bland. For such an expensive dish I expected much better. The restaurant does have great views and the service is ok. Friendly enough, but as we left the staff didn't say anything to us like have a good day or bye, which for such a nice place I'd expect something. We probably won't be back. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it was way too expensive for something so disappointing . Also ever since that fried steak I have had serious stomach problems. I'm wondering if it was bad.

Blackened Ahi Tuna

We rolled into town, tired, and hungry, but also wanting of view of the ocean. Georgie's look like the best spot to check the boxes. Our waitress was very attentive, I'm going to guess very seasoned in this role, so our service was outstanding. My mother had the Ahi on special. The picture does not do justice for how delicious this was. I'm thankful she let me have a couple bites because it left me wishing I would have selected that dish. But mine came in a close second with the Parmesan crusted halibut. Perfectly cooked, well seasoned, I ate every bite. Prices are reasonable.

View from our table...from any table really!

We have been coming to Newport for years and decided to branch out and try something different than our usual Nye Beach stops, and we are so happy we did! Our meal tonight was excellent, start to finish, with attentive but not hovering waitstaff, friendly folks at the check in, and a view of the sunset that was breathtaking. The wine list was extensive but reasonably priced. I had the crab cakes dinner, and they were loaded with crab, no fillers at all, very tasty. My hubs ordered the crusted halibut and it was the winner winner chicken dinner, a generous portion cooked to perfection and so flavorful. We had two different cheesecakes for dessert, and both were delicious. Now we have a new spot to come to when we visit. Be sure to make a reservation (can use Open Table) as this place is quite popular for good reason.

This should be higher because the ambiance is great. But the stuffed chicken breast with cheese and spinach was inedible. And vegetables with the under cooked broccoli and carrots all had to be left unfinished. Only the baked potato was the star. The thin chicken shell didn't taste like fresh moist chicken. My Halibut fish n chips was fine for processed halibut into a matching shape for each, there were 3. Definitely not a filet and didn't smell like anything. No seafood scent like you might get from shrimp. Indistinguishable from cod or halibut or the fish from the Clown House. oh, Remember , the chives for your baked potato is an extra dollar per plate. So in her favor , the waitress did comp the unfinished chicken meal. That was fair. She said it was a popular chicken dish and not wanting it was so hard to understand. Well, That was a big disappointment for us.

For a first time visitor, we had an excellent experience! We came on Wed night about 7:45PM and there was a 20 min wait for a table - so we were fortunate to get two seats at the bar right away. First off, Fort George Hazy IPA's were a great choice to get things rolling! My bride ordered the Herb Salmon Salad ($30) and really enjoyed it! I went with the Newport Black Cod ( $34) and it was an outstanding selection alond side with the veggies and rice! Service from our bartender was fantastic (I wish I had this name....wasn't on the receipt)

Perfect view to get lost in the waves. Service was great and very clean. Food was wonderful! The steak was cooked to perfection and the chicken seasoned wonderfully!

This place is amazing. Beautiful views! The staff was very nice. The seafood bowl was probably the best thing I had at the coast on this trip. Full of seafood, egg, potatoes and delicious hollandaise sauce. I highly recommend! Just be aware the address is a little off on yelp. It took us down the street but luckily we saw the sign.

Sunset at Georgie's

Over Memorial Day weekend I reserved a table in the bar section; ventilation here is much better compared to the main dining room, which was as stuffy as during my previous visit. I enjoyed the burrata appetizer and the ribeye steak. I was blown out of the water by the execution of the burrata dish- this came with the usual tomato slices but also with hot marinara sauce and garlic bread. A strike of genius, it combined so well and was out of this world delicious! The ribeye steak was middle of the road, a bit too thin and lean, not prime, and, dare I say, also not 28-day dry-aged as advertised. Service was fine. The view of the sunset coming through the overcast - moody and priceless, a perfect setting to end a long day with a Manhattan.

Marionberry Crisp

After browsing through Yelp and trying to figure out what we wanted for dinner, we happened upon the Diablo seafood pasta and for some reason it stuck with us. So we decided to go here. We got to the restaurant at 5PM and just beat the crowd. We were asked to wait 5 minutes while they set up our table. We got a booth that looked out at the ocean. It was very romantic. The interior of the restaurant was modern and updated and it was very clean. Our waitress came and took our order. We ordered some crab cakes to share. My husband ordered the halibut encrusted with Parmesan and I ordered the Diablo seafood pasta. The crab crakes were filled with crabs in every bite. It was one of the best crab cakes I've had in this area. When my plate of pasta came out, I was so excited to try it and it did not disappoint. The cheesy Diablo taste was on-point and every bite was filled with seafood: crabs, scallops, salmon or shrimps. It was so good! I finished my entire plate. My husband said his plate of halibut was good as well. We couldn't leave without trying the marionberry crisp. It even came with two scoops of vanilla ice cream! It was delectable! We will definitely come back in the near future to try out some of the other dishes on the menu.

My fiance and I ate here yesterday and had the best time! We had a beautiful spot next to the bar…read moreand window on the second floor. Great view of the ocean and docks. We got the seafood platter as an appetizer and it was so delicious! We got to try a little bit of everything. We were pretty full just off of that but got entrees. The ahi poke in the seafood platter was so good I had to get it as my main. The sauce was so incredible with fresh avocado. I NEED that recipe. I would come back to Newport just for the ahi poke bowl. My fiance got the dungeness crab mac and cheese and it was without a doubt THE BEST mac and cheese we've ever had. We are Mac and cheese connoisseurs so that says a lot. The sauce was so perfect and the crab was very generous. To top it all off I thought the post cards at the end were very sweet. I came to Newport when I was a child (maybe 7 years old) and I had lots of old memories that I relived on my trip. I sent one to my mom. Our waiter was absolutely lovely. We hope to come back one day!

Been coming here for years and it's still a really solid breakfast spot…read more Today we had the eggs Benedict with honey bacon and the Rustic Scramble. Slightly spicy hollandaise sauce, perfectly poached eggs and the sweet bacon on the Benedict pearched on house made biscuits. Scramble was healthy with chopped asparagus, pesto, scrambled eggs, sun dried tomatoes, honey bacon chunks, excellent combination of ingredients. Strong, rich coffee, on top of it service and normally a wait, but worth it.

May 2026 Nye Beach, OR…read more Small little café along the streets. Only eight tables in the whole place. Very clean. The table near us ordered breakfast and it looked wonderful. I opted for the grilled cheese with an iced tea. My husband ordered the clam chowder with garlic bread. As I look around at all the tables near me all of the food from the hamburger to the salad looks delicious. The front door is open and the restaurant is warm. Outdoors it's only 54°. Kitchen is in the back of the restaurant, but there is heat radiated throughout the small restaurant. And loud noise of fans. The service was quick and polite. The food was delicious. The restaurant kept busy with people sitting at the tables outside as the lunch tables inside were filled. This is a small and cute place to have lunch. The wait staff was kind. We left our jackets in the restaurant and the waitress came out and found us still sitting in our car and gave us our jackets. Thank you to the staff for going above and beyond. I would give this adorable café five stars.
