They do more than just shoe repair! Anything leather related, they are worth checking out- I am so glad I did!! I have a wallet on a chain missing a grommet. I was going to buy the tool and fix it myself, but just for kicks I decided to stop by to see if they could fix it and what it would cost. On this rainy day, I walked in about 10 minutes before closing ( I know, rude! ) thinking I would need to leave my item and pick it up at a later time- nope! The lady at the front ( I didn't catch her name) was super helpful. To sum it up, they did the repair immediately and for a fraction of what it was going to cost me to buy the tool. For all the negative reviews- goodness, kick rocks! Stop adding to the reason this is a dying art. Next time, just fix it yourself if you're so smart! I have lost two of the best shoe cobblers in St. Louis over the past 50 plus yrs. (John & John). I was looking for a new one when I came to your store. I'm so glad I found you. I had Diehard work shoes I had purchased new a few yrs back with Urethane soles when Sears was going out of business. They were never worn. I wore them one day to work & the soles crumbed away. You were nice to explain exactly what was happening & came up with a repair that was a complete new shoe bottom that was better than new. They can handle the chemicals at work as a mechanic. They look better than Sears did. I now use them daily & They are so comfortable. The price was better than expected for the amount of work you did. You are my new shoe repair center for all my repair needs. First of all I CLEARLY remember how my boots fit me!! 2nd I did NOT say they were sized up 3 sizes might want to read my review again!!! 3rd You did NOT converse with me!! You met me with anger and yelled at me immediately!! You did not explain anything you only said you only put a sole over the old one and no way you did anything to my boots and pushed my boots at me told me to leave as you and your partner went to the back of the store!! I have never been treated so rudely i was in tears when I walked in and still when I left and y'all treated me so awful!! The worst customer service I have ever experienced!!! Also the heel of my boots did NOT originally have nails, y'all put nails in them. So that is not leaving them original and I was not told that. read more

Name says shoe repair but they also will help you out with leather purses. When I called to ask if they did purses the lady was very informative. Basically said that often times replacing the very long strap of a cross body bag can get expensive so she offered suggestions. I ended up taking another purse in for them to re-glue the strap. They have a minimum $15 charge for purses which is clearly posted and she told me that too. They also got my purse done much quicker than promised date. They are very Covid aware here too so they require masks inside which I am just fine with. read more

I used to use a cobbler who had been in business for years. When he retired I struggled to find a skilled cobbler. I found one place in clayton/ladue but the owner was like the soup Nazi except for shoes. I recently found Sappington and was relived when I stepped in. It has that old school, legit feel. The owners are super nice and very good at what they do. They make you pay in advance because some fools actually never return for their shoes. I was fine with paying in advance. I was given a date to come get them but they called me much sooner to tell me that they were done. I was told that they would be polished also. When I picked them up they were polished but not the way I polish my shoes. That's ok. Most people aren't fanatical about a spit shine like I am. I hope Sappington shoe repair doesn't go anywhere. I have been going to this business for years. Had not only my boots but my workers boots fixed multiple times, and always had nice service. But last time I was there the woman at the door treated me very poorly and her son screamed obscenities at me in the parking lot all because I asked to speak with them face to face (with mask on) so I could show a certain repair because it's hard to explain over the phone. She told me to return to my car and call the phone numer on the board to speak to them. After the son screamed at me for wanting to explain this repair I decided to take my business elsewhere. I was simply trying to support a small family owned business especially with the hard times we are facing. The business I went to was another small family owned place called "Butler Hill Shoe Repair and Alterations" very nice people and very good price. Sappington shoe repair is really great at repairing shoes. My dad gets them repaired there all the time, I have really bad foot issues so I went in to pick up a pair of insoles and came out with two really nice pairs of insoles and a really great pair of orthopedic flip-flops that I wear on a daily basis. The insoles are always in my shoes no matter what pair of shoes I'm wearing and the flip-flops I wear around the house every single day. The owners are very kind and know me by my first name. I've gone into this shop 3 times. The first time I was told they could not put heel silencers on my shoes for a reason I don't remember. The second time the simple repair was expensive and would have taken 2-3 weeks (!!) so I opted not to have it done. The third time I called to make sure they did shoe shine and was told it was $8. I asked how long and was told on Tuesday that I could pick them up on Friday. When I got to the shop I was told $10 and it would take 1-2 weeks. When I said I called and was told $8 this young man said that's where the pricing "starts" and goes up from there.
