I had to get some mats cut to fit some frames that I brought in. The smaller one was printed in…read moresome odd dimensions; I got a 10x13 frame and had the mat cut down to size. At first I wanted the mat to be the same size around all edges, but Ron expressed his concern for cutting off the artwork. After I looked around the shop a little, I agreed that a mat cut with the tops and bottoms not being the same size as the sides would be fine. He crunched some numbers and gave me a receipt for the smaller one, and an estimate for the larger one if he had to grab a new mat for it. One of the frames I had brought in came with a precut mat for some previous artwork in the frame. To cut down on costs, he offered to cut the mat to fit first. That didn't work, mostly because the cuts were too tight, and the previous artwork had some sticky tape left around the borders. Ron called to make sure I was okay with him moving ahead with cutting another mat for it. When I came in to pick them up, not only had he repositioned the mounting hardware on the smaller one so it would hang in portrait orientation, but he had also finished the back side of the bigger one, complete with protective paper and hanging wire. He also helped carry the bigger one out to my trunk on a rainy day. Overall, really satisfied, highly recommend, and I'm glad I didn't go to Michael's instead haha.

I brought them a couple of challenging projects and was surprised by the sensitivity with which they treated my work and the work that I was having framed. I have experienced a little bit of snobbery at other frame shops in town and there is nothing like that here, Rene is down to earth but really knows his stuff when it comes to fine art and collectibles. you can trust him with your valuable memories and you can either bring your own ideas and he'll work with you on them or you can let him create something that solves the problems that you need to solve and he comes up with better ideas than I do and I don't meet very many people who are like that. The shop is friendly, welcoming and fun to visit and pristinely organized. I've met very interesting people there who also love art, collectibles, memorabilia, and family treasures. The space feels very safe and pleasant. Very reasonably priced, as well. Also, Rene responds to customer inquiries as immediately as he can and it is completely refreshing to have someone value my time so well. turnaround is reasonable once you hire him for a project and he sends you an invoice through the email and the process is very easy and professional; communication is efficient kind polite professional and everything you want to be when you're doing business with someone who really values the meaning of what these objects mean to you. Rene has a very discerning eye when it comes to color especially and all aspects of the composition that you are bringing to him to have framed. I wish the government ran with such ease and efficiency! I brought in a mural that I needed to be able to transport in a regular car so that I could show it in my art shows and Renee built a custom structure of support for it and stretch the canvas in a way that I could fold it in half and then unfold it and hang it and it just has a beautiful form that finishes my own work with a sense of authenticity that feels really good after I have put in the blood sweat and tears to make my own original art. I have also brought in such things like two sided sketches by well-known artists and ask Rene if he could create a way to frame a two sided sketch so that I could display both sides. I had my own idea about how to do that and after I tested it and with Rene's wisdom I could see that my idea was not going to work. Thankfully he had a backup idea that is way better and that's a beautiful thing. I also have brought in smaller original artworks that he was able to frame a series of so that there's a sense of unity when I display it on my wall and it really brings out the gorgeous shades of pencil sketches black-and-white photographs and signed numbered prints that are in this series. I'm really impressed with the work that Rene and his family do. They're very validating, inspirational people.

They all worked on the card and the results blew me away. I wanted to be able to keep it and look at it forever, but it was fragile and needed expert framing. A friend suggested Artistic Edge, and the rest is history. Jessica spent the best part of an hour with me going over all the various possibilities. The color of the frame, the size, the matting, the various parts next to each other, the weight of what would be the final product. She acted like I was the only person of importance throughout all of this back-and-forth as I changed my mind over and over. Finally I was ready, and she said that it would be ready by X amount of time --- probably a bit sooner. Off I went. WEEKS before the date promised Kathy called and said the artwork was ready. When I arrived and saw it displayed I cried --- it was exactly what I wanted and ever so much more! Kathy talked to me --- and LISTENED --- as though I was the most important person in the world at that moment --- I told her all about who made the sticker card artwork and when and why, and she just listened and smiled and chatted and was wonderful. I took my artwork home, hung it up, and took pictures for all the sticker artists to enjoy. Everything has come out perfectly! This is a beautiful, meaningful, lovely piece of art, in the absolutely perfect frame. Artistic Edge did an awesome job --- they respected the artwork, they respected me, they threw their artistic talents into this, and I feel that at the same time they got a kick out of doing it. We couldn't have been happier, starting with her initial analysis along with the painstaking care that brought our 29" x 36" heirloom oil painting back to life. The painting had hung in my parent's dining room for many years and before that it was in my grandparents' and great grandparents' homes in the Chicago area. On initial inspection, Stella told us that the last restoration had been botched and that the framed painting had been improperly mounted on Masonite. She detailed the restoration process and gave us two options -- full or partial restoration -- with two different price tags. We chose the full restoration. She sent us photos as the restoration progressed so we could see how much of a difference this would make. Now, 3 months later, we have our beloved painting back in our home. We're seeing detail and colors that we never knew existed. And best of all, the final price was exactly what she had quoted to us. Stella is a real pro!

I WISH I had the BEFORE pictures to show! I really went to Stella to restore the pictures because…read morethe frames were so damaged. In my opinion, damaged beyond repair. The frames are made of plaster, that was cast over wire. They are at least 100 years old. Chunks missing. The photos are curved. No glass covered them. The glass was lost or broken years ago. No way she could find glass that could fit the photos and the frame. The restoration took Stella around 3 months. Now I am talking about MUSEUM QUALITY restoration. When I picked them up I couldn't believe my eyes. The picture of my Grandfather, (which was almost torn in half and is the only known picture of him in our family)was nearly pristine! As was the one of my Grandmother. Now these treasures will be able to be passed down for many,many generations. Thank you so much Stella. We are so fortunate to have such an Artist in the Sacramento area. P.S. If you are a good client Perhaps you will be privileged to meet Zeus.
