an hour ago NEW I used to LOVE Cobe. Tu & Sabrina are wonderful. Always so kind, always took their time. I've never left unhappy with my nails which is why I never minded paying a bit more than other places. About a month or two ago, new managers took over and that's when everything started to change. The new owners have terrible attitudes. They're very rude. People call to make appointments and they don't even write the names down so when you show up for your appointment with your tech, you don't actually have an appointment. My tech and I are friends so knowing this was happening, I personally texted my tech to make an appointment for the next day. When I showed up, I noticed she wasn't there. The male owner knew I was there to specifically see her for a 3:30 appointment and told me it would just be a minute. I assumed my tech was on a lunch break and would be walking in any minute. I waited 15 minutes before he walked over and said "She has the day off." I explained that I had just spoken to her to make the appointment with her the day before. He said "well she's off today, you can wait for someone else." I walked out and immediately text my tech to see what's as going on. She was very apologetic that she hadn't contacted me and then told me they had fired her and 5 other girls that morning. The owner KNEW she wasn't there and still let me sit there and wait for her. I'm very friendly with my techs. I know their families and kids names and they're hardworking, kind people. But these new managers treat their employees awful and after hearing the things the techs have told me, I'm glad they were fired so they can move on and find something better. Save your money on overpriced services and terrible management and go somewhere else. read more

For example, I asked for a french ombre and they said they could do it, but what I got for $60 was a pink base coat with white sponge-dabbing that didn't even make it a week without chipping. Some workers will pay attention to thickness, cuticles, hand massage and others won't... so there is lack of consistency and varying skills & experience. Once you find your favorite person, you can make an appointment with them which is good. If you are looking for more professional looking or higher end quality, this is not the place. This shop has grown so popular, but their service is always on point! The owner is a gem and I love whenever I get to sit in her chair. She's quick and efficient but does absolutely beautiful work that always holds up. She did a repair on a broken thumbnail for me that lasted for months. Kenny is always a laugh and he's just a fun guy to talk to. The rest of the staff are sweet as can be, no matter what service you're getting done. Almost everyone does gel polish now since it's become so popular and they do it well. It often will last a good three weeks. I often have to worry about the grow-out more than chipping. They're much busier during the summer months when the tourists are here, so I still recommend making an appointment or going in early. There are lots of regular clients, even men, which is fantastic to see. The staff know the regulars by name. It's really a great atmosphere. Their walk-in wait is usually pretty reasonable as well. Their prices are on their website so you won't have any surprises when you check out. Their salon is very clean and I've always been pleased with all the sterilization I've seen. Instruments are autoclaved and opened for each client. I really do love that there's no heavy nail polish smell either. I have migraines and that smell will trigger one, but I never have a problem here, I just don't smell it. I don't know what they do, but I'm pleased about it! If you're looking for a relaxed, welcoming, staff who does great work, this is a great place to go. The fact that they stay so busy all the time should speak volumes. read more

Not happy at all with my experience. I went in to get my nails done. I use the powder and they had a great selection. The guy started off by cutting my cuticles which I hate. He didn't ask if I wanted it done and quite honestly he cut too much and it hurt. I had 2 nails with old powder that had to be removed- only 2. Anyways the charge was $50. I was totally caught off guard by that cost. Nothing online remotely suggested that would be the price. When I inquired he said it was because he cut my cuticles and had to 'remove' old powder. Again it was 2 nails and he should have told me there was a cost to cutting my cuticles. I hate having that done. He didn't soak my hands, he didn't apply lotion or anything g that would suggest an actual manicure. Regardless $50 for what he did was crazy. It's been exactly 5 days since I had it done and they are already cracking. On top of that horrible experience, a lady came in and asked if they could repair 1 fingernail that broke. The lady up front told her there would be a couple hour wait!!! Really for one fingernail. She told the lady they had appointment coming In soon so they couldn't accommodate her one fingernail. After which I watched 2 ladies come in without appointments and ask for manis and Pedis and the lady told them to have a seat it would be about 10 mins. Right after that a lady and her daughter came In for manis without appointments and again that same lady said 15 mins. Terrible experience today! Went for 2 pedicures that were fair, 30 minutes start to finish although mine was a little longer because I always do gel polish. My nails were acrylic, I have never in 30+ years of having nails do I ever get gel nails. Not only do they look like something I personally would do but the nail tech acted surprised that I did not ask or want gel. She very naively acted like it was something I could get fixed if I want to wait and start all over with someone else. Now I have nails for the Easter holiday that look embarrassing but my bill was 145$ and I after much thought did include a 20% tip! I know they probably talked about it the entire time I was there! I really struggled to keep a pleasant face while getting the poorest services ever. A new spa in coming up the street and I hope it is a place that has consistency in their services. Worst nail salon I have ever gone to. The worker "Ricky" was so incredibly rude, that I left halfway through the appointment. His hands were covered in grime and grease, black under his nails and used the excuse that he had to work on his car this morning. Ok, so yesterday was my birthday and I just got a job, so I decided to treat myself to a manicure. My nails tend to catch and tear as soon as they're long enough for a mani, but today they looked perfect so I walked into Cobe and asked for a shellac manicure. They were busy, even though they'd just opened, and I took that to be a good sign. I've never had a French mani before, so I decided on that and it began. Unfortunately, I'm not overly impressed. The final product is better than I anticipated from the halfway point, but my nails were still cut too short and a couple were filed crooked. My right index finger, especially, is visibly askew. Overall not too awful, but I'll be trying somewhere else next time. Plus, several of the unoccupied technicians kept hovering. A friend and I went to get pedicures on Valentine's Day to treat ourselves. The place was busy but we were quickly seated and within a few minutes our nail technicians were seated and beginning. I got lucky and got a really great nail tech, my friend however, did not. She happened to get an older lady that I'm not sure knew the pedicure process? She stumbled around and often went back and did things twice? My pedicure was done and I sat in the "drying area" over 20 minutes while my friend was still having her toes done. I paid $35 for my pedicure and added the paraffin wax treatment. For Morehead City I feel its a little pricey considering I pay much less in Raleigh for the same quality of salon. She took a lot of time on them and continued to go back to various nails until she thought they were perfect. The salon is large and can accommodate many. They had many technicians available also. Family is on vacation at Emerald Isle and my daughter and I were looking for a nice way to treat ourselves with a spa experience. We were seated right away and proceeded to have the BEST pedicures we've ever had. Very thorough, excellent care and beautiful paint job. I made the mistake of coming in on a very busy day. I put my name on the list and was surprised I only had to wait about 10-15 minutes to be placed in a pedi chair. I then sat in my pedi chair for 40 minutes. My water was cold by the time someone got to me, I had taken my feet out because I was getting pruny. My nail tech was very rushed, which I understand it was busy. But instead of soaking my nail polish off he drilled it and cut me. Then insisted I put my foot back in the water. When I denied he was slightly annoyed. He complained for my entire visit about how many people kept coming in the door. I understand that having a busy day is stressful and overwhelming, I just don't think that is what someone paying for a relaxing service wants to hear about for 30 minutes receiving their mani/pedi. I wanted to like this place because it is well cleaned and conveniently located, but I won't go back now. Went to salon to try out since just moved here. Was told it would be 20 minutes to wait for eyebrow wax. I waited and waited and no one came to take me to "Brow Bar". Finally I was told to go to bar and have a seat, which I did. I waited and waited but no one said hello. I was kinda glad that I was seated there and was able to look around the area. The table that held the accessories was filthy, unorganized and probably had not been cleaned in months. A tech came over with a client, still not acknowledging me, but I was able to watch her. Had not washed her hands nor wore gloves. She did not bring a sanitized bag of instruments, just picked up what was laying on the table. She dipped the same Qtip in the wax container several times, reusing it. The wax container was very dirty on the outside and obviously had not been cleaned in a long time. I am very disappointed with my nails and will be returning to get them fixed. I got a gel full set and the shape is not great but worse than that I asked for a darker yellow and my nails are neon yellow and see through. When asked if I like them I said they do not look like the swatch I picked out and they are very bright. The guy replied "I got the color you said and any yellow is going to be bright."
