I got my first "real" tattoo (aka not the dinky little symbol one on my ankle) at Cobra Custom from Mazie. I am really happy with the entire experience! I was really nervous about going in because I'd heard horror stories from people about rude artists or unclean spaces. (I am also just generally nervous about the idea of tattoos and committing and yada yada.) However, this couldn't have been farther from my experience! The entire shop was very clean and cozy. Mazie was very receptive to the several changes I asked for in my design and was very fairly priced. I felt really comfortable with her. I am absolutely not an expert on tattoos, but I have had several people compliment how clean her lines are and how well it's done, so props to her for that! I wanted to get the tattoo on my Dad's first birthday since his passing, but I failed to plan ahead and make an appointment. Luckily for me, they were great about accepting me as a walk-in. Went in to get a tattoo of Morticia Addams hands cutting the top of a rose, and a small quote "be here now" in a different spot. Matt was my artist. I sent in the photo of what I wanted the Morticia tattoo to look like and got something horrendous. No effort into the drawing, inconsistent lines, basically my 5 year old could have drawn this out better. It honestly makes me sick that I paid for something like this. I went to get a "touch up" with Matt a few weeks later and again, the lines are even more messed up and not to mention I got an infection even though I did exactly what I've done with all of my past tattoos. Even my friends took one look and made sure they knew the name of the shop so they could steer clear. If you want to spend a ton of money for a rushed tattoo, go for it, but I was highly disappointed and don't doubt you will be too. I chose cobra customs for a tattoo in fall 2022 because I had great experiences there years prior. The artists I had worked with previously were no longer working there as of my most recent visit. I brought reference images of the two flowers I wanted and requested that the tattoo style be "more delicate and feminine than my other tattoos". I specifically asked for a gladiolus and a delphinium, for one to be pink and one yellow. I had talked to the artist and communicated clearly about why I was looking to have these specific flower types and colors in the tattoo and why I wanted the style of it to be a delicate, softer tattoo. The initial sketch outline, while very basic, looked ok. I trusted that the artist had listened during the initial consultation and that it would be amazing once color was added, as my previous experiences had been. Rather than the delicate design I requested, or even the flower types or colors I requested, I left with 2 generic 'flowers', pink and blue, with only 3 petals each, lines that appear to be missing pieces, as though parts were just left out, big dark black spikes/thorns all around them for no apparent reason at all, and an angry face thing in the center of one of the "flowers". None of this was ever discussed with me and was a total surprise upon seeing the finished work. No part of the tattoo even remotely resembles any of the reference images I provided or any of what was discussed with the artist beforehand. The tattoo is on my chest/shoulder area so I couldn't see until it was finished. I reached out to cobra customs shortly thereafter, asking if anything could be done to soften the design or do any sort of coverup to fix this mess. The person I spoke with, Emily, more or less strung me along for several months. The last I heard, in June, she was going to speak with the artists who work in a style more similar to what I requested and get back to me to schedule something. I requested a color sketch of what might possibly be done, to avoid making the same mistake that I had made by getting tattooed in the fall without a concrete drawing of what the artist intended, and was told it's impossible for a tattoo artist to provide a sketch in advance of tattooing, and then she stopped responding. It has been a year and a half since the tattoo was done and I have tried to be very patient and understanding, while giving cobra every opportunity to even attempt to make it right. I've reached out to follow up several times since June and now, nearly a year later I am still waiting for a response. I spent over a thousand dollars to get a large, very visible tattoo that is the polar opposite of what I requested, and cobra customs did absolutely nothing to even attempt to make it right other than waste my time and energy. When people see my tattoo and ask about it, unfortunately I have to explain that I would never again trust this place, nor would I ever recommend them to others. Cobra customs is nothing like what it used to be, and trusting them was a very expensive & permanent lesson learned. read more

It was not even two inches tall and paid 140$ for something that came out nothing like the reference photo, which I get people do their own thing with their art, but this just does not look good. Worked with Steve to design a one of a kind tattoo and he created a few options. While working, Steve checked in with me to confirm color choices and details. I had three appointments booked, two were cancelled due to Covid. As soon as the Governor's order was lifted I called to schedule and was told "we are not scheduling at the moment but we will call you back as soon as we are". I waited two weeks without a call then called back and got "Oh we have already booked out months, we can offer you October at the earliest". October didn't work due to my employment but was told I can be put on a standby list. Months went by with nothing. Called today, earliest I can get in is after the new year (which also doesn't work for me). They are refusing to refund my initial deposit when they are the ones that threw me to the side like a dirty towel....... I get it, they are busy but they messed up in not keeping good scheduling records. They should be doing the right thing, I was never called back even though I was one of the very first to call and was reassured I would be contacted as soon as they start scheduling. Crap way to run a business. At least refund the deposit so I can go elsewhere. read more

Alright so everything was nice and clean and professional. However, no one ever asked for my ID nor was I asked to fill out paperwork. I made an appointment in the shop and came back about a week later for the actual appointment. I don't know if the guy who made my appointment should have asked, or if I should have been asked when I showed up to the appointment but either way it makes me wonder what else they're nonchalant about. I never write reviews on places but this needs to be shared. I went here and saw Matt for a tattoo on my back, showed him an image that I had found that gave an idea of what I wanted. I told him what I wanted to change and what I wanted in the tattoo. The entire tattoo took about 45 minutes, it's not a small piece and that was my first red flag. I then waited for it to heal and realized that it was nothing like I had asked for and the work was awful. I messaged him on instagram, where I had originally booked the appointment on and asked him if there was anything I could do about the tattoo and how it turned out. He was very rude in his response and didn't like that I said that the tattoo was a mess. I even tried to say maybe it was just that the ink didn't take well to my skin, he never responded after that. I finally called the shop and spoke with the manager who told me that they would get this figured out and she would talk with the owner about the situation. I was asked to come into the shop by her so that another artist (Jay) could look at the tattoo and see what he could do to make it decent. He told me that he could most definitely do some work to it and make it look better. I was excited to finally have it fixed and booked with him for his next available appointment which was 6 months out. I had to reschedule due to work and scheduled another day and drove the hour to get there and he came out and told me that someone was suppose to call me and cancel the appointment but never did because he couldn't do anything to the tattoo. I was rightfully upset and asked him why this wasn't said to me when I first came in for the consultation and he said he tried to make a sketch and couldn't do anything and his best advice was to get laser treatment done for it. I then asked him how it's not fair how I was given the run around and drove back and forth then still have this awful tattoo that is stuck on me for good, he then got noticeably upset and his response was "how is that my fault". I asked to speak to the manager and she told me the owner would call me when he was in next which was Friday. Friday came, no call. Saturday came, no call. I called again and they said he would call me later. He ended up calling me after 8pm and asked what he can do for me. I explained the situation and he told me that he didn't believe what I was saying because his staff would never do or say what they did. He then put me on speaker with multiple people in the room and let the artist that was suppose to fix it, Jay raise his voice and argue with me. Jay told him a completely different story than what actually happened and completely disregarded what I had told him. Mind you I had someone with me that witnessed the entire conversation that took place when we were in. Nothing was resolved and nothing was done in result of this entire ordeal. I still have an AWFUL tattoo and have to now pay for it to be covered up or do laser treatments to it. $450, hours of driving back and forth, arguing with incompetent staff and an owner who doesn't know how to communicate professionally at all and I am still the one who gets screwed. Please do not go here and if you do, do not see Matt or Jay. read more

Both my wife and I went. We couldn't be happier with the results. Forrest did mine and Ryan did hers. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional (this was the first tattoos for both of us). The shop was absolutely spotless. Clean from top to bottom. I was very impressed that their website touts the fact that the artists there are all Red Cross certified annually in dealing with blood-borne pathogens (as well as CPR and first aid). It was easy to see after being there that they take safety and cleanliness very seriously. Oh, and then there's the results. Everything came out great. Ryan and Forrest made some suggestions and answered our questions without making us feel like stupid newbies even though our tattoos were very modest by the standards of some of the incredible work I saw there. I had been there before to see my girlfriend and her sister get their tattoos, but this was my first time on the receiving side. Matt did my tattoo, and he was wonderful- he made me feel really comfortable and was VERY nice. He also did a beautiful job on my piece which helps! I got my second tattoo here and my artist was Matt. It came out absolutely gorgeous, exactly what I wanted, it included beautiful shading with which looks perfect and took less than ten minutes. It could use a little touch up if I get around to it, but overall I love it. It was quite painful but that is to be expected for some people. Very sanitary and everyone is very nice. The only things I don't like were the fact that the tattooing rooms are not private, so someone else could be getting tattooed right next to you. It is also not accessible, as it is upstairs with no elevator. My artist also spoke to me very little throughout the process, no "This is what I'm doing now", etc, and he didn't explain the aftercare instructions to me but did give me a sheet with instructions. But overall I would highly recommend Cobra and will likely be back. read more

I got my tattoo from Jase who did an excellent job. He was funny and nice. He also complimented how badass it was for a girl to be getting an anchor tattoo. Its really cramped inside cobra customs, especially going up the stairs and although I made my appointment around 2 months in advance, I had to wait 3 hours for my artist to be finished with his prior appointment.
