I was traveling on New Circle Rd in a narrow construction zone in heavy traffic when my car…read moretransmission would not engage. It was very hot outside and my air was not working the best. I managed to get off New Circle Rd onto another side road and was able get a tow truck and they recommended AAMCO and took it there. I was late afternoon and the shop was getting ready to close for the day. So I spoke to Al the next morning. The shop was booked up for the day (July 3rd) and Al said it would be Friday July 5th before they would be able to look at my car. I checked with them Friday morning and asked them to check my air conditioner while they were diagnosing the transmission, Al said the would. A short time later Al called and let me know the diagnosis and the cost. My car was ready very soon and the price was very good. I am a happy customer! I drove home to west Tennessee with no further problem.

Al at Aamco was recommended to me by my regular mechanic who, after running the check engine codes,…read morewinced and said I needed someone who specialized in transmission issues. Transmission issues. The dreaded phrase that strikes to the very heart of a car owner's bank account! I had the car towed to Aamco with fear in my soul! Al was able to look at my 04 Trailblazer the next day. He called to say he'd determined the problem was electrical, rather than transmission-related. (In my book, "electrical" is the SECOND scariest word in car repair.) He explained in detail how long he would spend looking for the wiry, sparky culprit, how much it would cost, and when he would stop to review with me what he'd found and if I wanted to continue if it couldn't be fixed quickly. Later in the day, he called to say that the problem was fixed and that it had been so straightforward, I'd only be charged the labor fee he'd quoted me earlier in the day! Now--I know I got away with a small bill, which alone would make me happy. But Al was extremely up-front with me about cost and time, was sensitive to my concerns about both, and (most importantly) did NOT take advantage of the fact that I was ready to shell out much more to get the problem fixed. I would recommend this shop to anyone, particularly if you have concerns about transmission issues.

They didn't charge what they should have for the repair work but they also didn't fix my car after 5 months and I had to take to 2 additional mechanics. Maybe only use them for "Minor" repairs and definitely not for "Major" repairs.

A grey sludge came out - and this is to be expected (normally a head gasket but this was a chemical reaction) - Valvoline charges $100 for a radiator flush, and the thermostat at Advanced Auto was $56. Took it to this shop. They didn't touch it for multiple days as I called multiple times each day and the same story... "We haven't gotten to it yet." Then they call me and ask me what color the sludge is. Uhhh, don't you have the car? I leave a voicemail at about 5:00pm that day telling them to not touch the vehicle after quoting me $660. They told me their program on the computer calculates the time to replace and everything. I call my mechanic buddy the next city over (I would have just used him in the first place - but I couldn't get but maybe 1/4 mile at a time before it got too risky to drive at high temp.) - He uses the same programs they do - sends me a screenshot of the total time. 0.8 hours... so 45/50 minutes maybe? They wanted to charge me 4.5 hours labor. My mechanic said on the end high end and worse case scenario $400 is kind of the ceiling for this issue, tops. $250 pretty standard. I go to pick my key up this morning slightly after they open and they charge me a $50 diagnostic fee. For what? Every single time I called they said they had not been able to take a look yet (mind you this is 4:00pm the day before - right before they close). And if they took a look like they said... why did they call me to ask what color the sludge is? They never performed any diagnostics. Guy lied to me when I got there and said "I had it up on the lift and looked at it myself" - to find out what? That yup... sure looks like everything he said... that'll be $50. Doesn't matter anyways, they didn't look at the thing. Moral of the story folks, unless you realllllly badly want to get charged double, and charged for work that was never completed... don't go here. In fact, tell all your friends not to go here either. This is the 2nd time they've done me dirty as well. The first time I had an oil leak (perhaps it was my starter, one of those times) and after they "fixed" it, it was initially quoting me some insane amount like $800. So I laughed and asked to talk to a manager/owner. They called me back and said, "Ooops, I'm sorry I read that wrong, it was $400 not $800..." - wow, awfully difficult numbers to tell apart there eh? The numbers that don't look alike in any way/shape/form. Also... guess what? - still an oil leak. The issue was never resolved. Absolute trash ran business. Screwing people over is likely the only way they are staying afloat. I don't know how on earth they are keeping customers with these business practices, because they've sure lost my business, my friend's business, and my family's business.
