I got two cakes from Coccadotts this week. The first was a small chocolate cake with fudge and chocolate icing for my daughter's 22nd birthday. It was so rich and delicious, any chocolate lover should get this cake!! It even had chocolate chips on the outside. The second one was a half sheet cake for my 80 year old golf loving dad. It was a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream icing and it was amazing! The cake was moist and delicious, the icing was the perfect amount of sweet and it had just the right amount of golf related decorations, exactly what I asked for!! Coccadotts Cake Shop is located in a strip mall. Upon appointment the door we see there are no Hazzards and the area is free of any trash, clean. Upon walking into the bakery the smell of sweetness is very pleasant. The staff was friendly and the transaction was nice. We were just passing through and thought we'd try the product. Unfortunately, they cupcakes were nothing to write home about. We tried them and just wasn't impressed and we didn't even finish all of them. Only the peanut butter one. This isn't to say that other products aren't delicious! Being that we live in a state way north. If we're ever in the area again we will check it out and try again. After seeing all of the beautiful cake designs on their website, I decided to go with this cake shop for my mother in laws birthday. She loves bath and body works so we thought it would be a nice touch to get a cake made to look like a candle. I talked to a nice lady on the phone who said she had to charge double for the shape, I did not mind at all. She asked me to send a picture of what kind of candle she likes and what I would want the design to look like. I picked it up (photo attach) all the baker did was a fondant print out and slabbed it on a pink cake. Such a big disappointment. I did not like this place at all, and the cupcakes were just basic, nothing special. The cotton candy cupcake that I got did not taste like cotton candy at all. The vanilla cupcake tasted it just like a vanilla cupcake (store bought would have been better) I shared my cupcakes with two other people so I do not know what the other cupcakes tasted like, I assume they liked it. There were no "Oohs and Ahhs" if that helps. I also didn't like how "Happy Birthday" was written on the cake. They use some kind of filter-like sticker instead of handwriting " Happy Birthday" with icing but I guess I would have had to order it like that. The picture that we used that was on their website or a picture that we found on another reviewer's page did not resemble anything like the cake that we thought we were going to get which is why this place received one star as well as their awful customer service. We weren't greeted upon arrival and pretty much they just took our money and mumbled a thanks. They were even able to adapt for a nut allergy by washing all pans, utensils, and surfaces prior to making and decorating the cake. We looked up cakes in Myrtle Beach and discovered Coccadotts Cake shop. We called and asked for the Raspberry cake for my wife's birthday and Coccadotts said it would be ready in an hour. When I arrived, the shop was beautifully decorated and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The cake was ready as expected. They even gave me instructions on how to serve it. The long and short is that the cake was very, very delicious! It was smooth, silky, and the cake presentation, packaging and birthday signage was excellent. We live in Raleigh and come to MB from time to time to stay in our condo rental, so we are newcomers to the area. We also bought the following cupcakes: red velvet, coconut, raspberry, and strawberry shortcake. So far we love the coconut, and raspberry.
