I called him and he was available to come out within a couple hours. When he got here and inspected the unit, he immediately identified the issue saying we had a bad capacitor. He had one on his truck and had it changed out in minutes and we again had working AC. I asked him to quote some more services and his fees were more than reasonable. Based on his repair service and recommendations he quoted, I believe him to be an honest professional. I will be using SP Heating & Air for all future HVAC service and I will recommend them to all of my friends and neighbors.

His estimate was half of the other guys. He closed the valves on my AC unit so we wouldn't leak any more refrigerant so he would have to refill as much. The other company quoted 12 pounds and Eric only ended up adding 4 pounds. Eric completed the replacement, and testing if the new evaporator coil, cleaned up after himself all in about 3 hours. The price I was quoted was over 12k. I felt the electrician on my job, Jason S. was very high pressure in his tactics and told me I needed to decide that day, or lose potential discounts. I had also been without a kitchen for over 30 days, so I agreed to the work. The next day Jason and an apprentice come out to start the job. They take one whole day to remove and replace the new panel, no problem. Here is where it goes downhill. On the second day of work, Jason and another apprentice came out and instead of prioritizing the circuit I hired him for, they start installing the hardwired smoke detectors Dekalb county allegedly requires. This took all day! By about 4 pm, I asked if he was going to get the outlet done so I could use my dishwasher and he replied "I guess if I stay here all night". I said I guess thats what you got to do then, and they were here til nearly 8 pm. Then he made several other unprofessional comments about staying late. Jason never came back to my job. A new Electrician came out on Monday, Jason said he had an emergency job. The part where they earned this rating comes when I found out my pool motor circuit was not working on the new GFCI circuit. I explained to them it originally was on a two pole circuit and now they had it on two single poles. It was drawing 240v and they had the model number and should have researched the wiring on their own as professionals. Rather than listen to me, I had to wait all day for the new electrician (with Jason on the phone) come up with a new quote to fix which included trenching up and re-wiring my entire pool, ANOTHER 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS! I was livid. I started looking into this and it turns out I was right, it just needed a 2 pole GFCI. I talked to the second electrician the next day and told him I want to talk to a supervisor or manager. I got a call later in the day from Jeffrey who was going to look into it and get back to me the same day. He did not. He did call me the next morning and agreed to send one of his best guys out to install a 2 pole and see if that solves the problem. Well guess what, it did! And, I didn't have to pay another 5K. I expected to hear back from Jeffrey again to ensure the job was to my satisfaction as you should on a service recovery. I did not. I feel lied to, and that I was robbed and almost taken needlessly for thousands more, had I not done my research which should not be necessary as a layperson. I understand from TE employees the Electricians control the cost, and they get a commission from it. Unfortunately, I paid for an electricians summer vacation because I trusted him. Luis L and Nathan the electricians at TE, thank you! Micah, Gavin, Phillip the apprentices, thank you too! Jeffrey I thank you for doing the minimum by ensuring what I paid for was completed. I called Pendley along with 3-4 other HVAC companies for estimates. When I called Pendley, the woman on the phone was rude right from the start, but I ignored it and just wanted the estimate. She never mentioned there would be a $125 fee for the estimate--if she had, I would've gone elsewhere. None of the other companies charged for estimates; they were all free. Pendley scheduled a tech to come out on a Wednesday at 8:30 AM. He showed up late, never called, and never even explained anything before leaving. I called the office, and they said they'd send me the estimate. During that follow-up call, they casually mentioned the $125 charge. I told them I wasn't paying because I was never made aware of that fee. I never got the estimate in writing, but I did get a call saying it would cost "around $400" to replace my ductwork. I almost spit out my drink. The actual cost for this job--now completed by another company--was about $3,500. Months later, Pendley called demanding I pay the $125. I explained again that I was never informed upfront and didn't think it was fair to charge me after the fact. They said I'd be hearing from the owner. He left a rude voicemail, so I called back to clear things up. Instead of listening, he said, "I've heard the recording, and she told you there was a fee. Do you really think I'd drive all the way to Cedartown for free?" Look, I don't care if a company charges for estimates--that's their prerogative--but customers need to be told up front. He then threatened to take me to magistrate court over this $125! I initially told him I'd pay it just to get it over with, but something felt off. The next day, I called and asked to hear the recording. Suddenly, the owner wasn't so confident. He snapped, "Do you really think I'm going to go through all that effort over $125?" Well, sir, you're the one dragging me through this. He told me I'd have to drive to their office to hear it, then when i said i would, he backpedaled and hung up. So either A) they don't have the recording, or B) they do--and it proves I was never told about the fee. This is not how you treat customers. Threatening people with court over something that was never disclosed is beyond unprofessional. I will never do business with Pendley again and highly recommend others stay away.

The other company took over two weeks to get in a part under warranty and twice the distributor he used sent the wrong part. I had to threaten this other company before I finally got AC. In fairness to the other company, they did replace my entire AC unit (under warranty). However, that was only after I threatened to tell every builder, mortgage broker, realtor, insurance agent and interior designer I  knew. (I used to be in the building business myself.) Then my AC unit froze up and quit working after only one week. Needless to say that when I was searching for a different experience with an HVAC company I was very leery and suspicious of everyone I spoke with. I got a recommendation from a group of neighbors to try the guys at R&R. WOW, what a difference these guys made! I was honest and upfront with them and they worked HARD to put me at ease and gain my trust. They diagnosed the problem I had and found out I needed a new evaporator coil. They researched and found out that the part was also still under warranty. Unlike the other company, they were able to have a replacement part the next business day.  I found out what the labor charge was to replace the part and was skeptical about the cost. Friends got in my head and were saying that's too expensive. So, one day while I was home I saw a different HVAC company guy drive by my house and I flagged him down. Come to find out this guy was a neighbor that lived a few streets over. We started talking and I explained my situation to him. I explained that I was afraid I was paying too much for labor. My neighbor got out of his van and hooked up his tools to my AC. He confirmed EVERYTHING that R&R said. I asked him about the prices and he said, my charge for this would normally be $50 more. If you are getting it at the price quoted, you are getting a GREAT deal from R&R. He made some recommendations for additional service work I might want to have done. I called the guys at R&R and asked them to do some additional work when they replaced the broken part. He said no problem and I told them I wanted to replace the plenum above the furnace because it was leaking cold air. They investigated and found out that my plenum was not a standard length. After doing some research, they found a way to repair and replace the plenum and seal up all the air leaks above the furnace. They did everything the same day and when I got home the difference inside my home was very noticeable. The airflow coming from my ductwork was stronger in all the rooms. My house is now cooler than before and my unit is not running as often. I can't say enough great things about this company. They are reliable and do the job they say they are going to do. Their prices are fair and REASONABLE. They do QUALITY WORK and above all, they are HONEST PEOPLE who WON'T rip you off! I HIGHLY recommend R&R Heating and Air. If you use this company, you WILL NOT be sorry you did.
