    Pork Belly Arepa
    Jovilei G.

Sooo delicious! Had it on Thursday and I'm still thinking about it a couple of days later. My boyfriend had the pork belly arepa, which I tried and loved the different textures. Crunchy outside with soft meat and freshness from the cilantro. I had the mofongo, which I loved the crunchy pork and how roasted the plantains were. I only wish that I had more of the toppings and prefer to have more garlic flavor in the plantains. I would go again next time they're at Calicraft Brewing in Walnut Creek. Highly recommend!!

Very pleased to have caught this food truck at a neighborhood event. Cocina Danzon is true to its mission of serving a variety of Latin cuisine. The staff was friendly and the ordering process was pretty seamless at the food truck. I ordered: La Havana; Yucca Fries; Pork Belly Arepa. Each of these dishes were flavor-packed. La Havana was my favorite for the textures and really keen flavors. I could order that multiple times and never get tired of it! I haven't had an Arepa before so eating this was an adventure. Glad that I grabbed some utensils as it quickly fell apart on me (likely user-error by me). Always order a side of Yucca Fries to accompany your dish- it's a staple and must! I would love to see some beverage pairings to go along with these. Overall, a great selection of food and look forward to having more in the future!

Arepa Pabellon (requested no cheese) (Also amazing!)

My first time eating food from Cocina Danzon was at Off the Grid and it was surprising in all the best possible ways. I should mention that I enjoy my food truck meals, but this was on an entirely different level. After taking just one bite from the La Havana and the Arepa Pabellon, I knew the chef loved cooking, understood ingredients, and had some amazing personal and/or family recipes to share. It. Was. That. Good. The La Havana fried chicken had crispy skin and juicy, perfectly seasoned meat, the rice and beans were not your typical rice and beans (these were packed with flavor!), avocado salad was nice and fresh, and the plantains added sweetness. When can I order this again??? And I'm not sharing lol. I also ordered the Arepa Pabellon, which had shredded beef, black beans, and plantains (requested no cheese) and came with a side salad. Again, the beef was seasoned so well and had a kick, but I just kept on eating even though I usually don't handle spice well. I suddenly had tolerance for this! (The leftovers were just as yummy.) Sometimes food amazes me and this was one of those times. Thank you for waking up my taste buds and taking the time to share these recipes with everyone, especially through Off the Grid events. Customer service was friendly. Prices were worth it for the portions and experience. The wait for the food was a little longer, but so worth it.

    Yucca fries with spicy aioli

I was grabbing a drink at Calicraft and needed some snackage! Luckily I could smell the delicious aromas coming from this food truck and took a stroll over. We just needed a snack so we only ordered the yucca fries. They were perfect to pair with our beers! Yucca fries are pretty bland as is but they were so tasty dipped into the spicy sauce that came with it. Can't wait to get to try some of the other items!

Where have they been all my life! Phenomenal food. If you ever get the chance to see this food truck you MUST try. Attended an Off the Grid event in Pleasant Hill and Cocina Danzon had the longest line. We ordered La Havana and Yuca fries. La Havana was incredible. The dish had so much flavor. Best rice and beans I've ever had in my lifetime. Yuca fries were very hot and fresh. The aioli had a nice kick. Seriously delicious! I cannot wait to try more of their menu.

    Cheese Cachepa with beef $14

Cheese Cachepa with beef $14 Sweet corn pancake stuffed with peppers , cheese shredded beef, onions. Pancake reminds me of the "corn pudding" on the side of your dish at chevys ... Large portions and delish!

I am so happy that Rossmoor has food trucks on Thursday mornings. We went to Cocina Danzon and the people that work there are so nice. We ate the Cheese Chachapas. It was huge and freshly made. It was not what I was expecting when the menu board described it as a pancake with cheese. This is more like a tamale with cheese or a doughy breading with cheese. I did not like the way the outside was so sweet and the inside was just filled with so much cheese. I will try again because I see how many great reviews have been given and I trust my fellow yelpers. I blame it on me and my expectation of a pancake.

Capacha is amazing! I could have saved half for tomorrow but it was too good not to finish :P

Cocina Danzón frequents my apartment complex. Oh. My. God...their cheese cachapas are to die for! I was craving them after finishing the corn and cheese arepas I bought from Trader Joe's on Sunday. Love the cheesy and sweet combination. The struggle is whether to stay loyal to the cachapas or branch out. If/when I choose the latter option, I want to try their fish and shrimp tacos (special), vegetarian arepa, yucca fries, and papa a la huancaina. Friendly service and busy for a reason. There were several orders ahead of me but the wait wasn't terrible. Can't wait for their next visit!

    Tajin Salad
    Ron L.

We went to a food truck event, and got a couple of items from different trucks. My wife wanted a salad to offset the tacos from another truck, so I got the Tajin Salad and I impulsive purchased a Cachapa. I've never had a Cachapa, and I know nothing about Cuban food, but this looks like some hearty farmers breakfast, some sort of cross between a pancake, cornbread and a grilled cheese. Absolutely delicious, and gigantic. $8 for more than I could eat even if I didn't order anything else. The Tajin salad has jicama and pineapple which go really well with the Tajin.

    La Havana no plantains
    Cassandra L.

So good! Ordered the yucca fries and the la Havana no plantains... no regrets! Fries are crispy on the outside soft in the best way inside. The spicy sauce that comes with it is delicious! Could have this on every dish! La Havana just transcends you to a whole different world! From the chicken to the avocado salad you're not disappointed!

1 serving of fried yuca - expensive but where else am I getting this? Also needs a sauce.
    Anthony C.

Ordered their cheese cachapa with beef on it and the fried yuca. Fried yuca is fried yuca. Probably better if they had an accommodating sauce for it. But this review is all about that cachapa. $14 and i got 2 meals from it because 1 - big serving and 2 - it was heavy. There is a lot of food in it. The sweet corn masa goes a long way in flavor and there was plenty of cheese. The cheese is all melted and was on the sweeter side too. Beef was delicious. They had a vinegar or something similar marinade on it. Spices. Youll taste a bit of the sour zing on the beef but one that makes you want to have more of it. I think if it was served on a plate, it would have a better presentation. Id definitely get this dish again. Thank you for a delicious memory.

    Pork belly arepa
    Erin H.

I never had to think about it before, but now if I ever had to choose a "Last Meal" before I died... it would be this. Eat here. Period. I don't even need to tell you what I got bc I'm sure all of it is as tasty as what I had. (I'm gunna tell you anyway). The La Havan was an explosion of flavors. Get that forsure. The pork belly arepa was I guess a sandwich of some sort. Idk, best sandwich I ever had. Get that too.

    Tajin Salad
    Elena P.

BEST LATIN AMERICAN FOOD HANDS DOWN for their colorful palette, generous portions, 5 spiced crispy yet moist La Havana (chicharron de pollo - MY FAVE), accompanied by flavorful Cuban fried rice (fresh ginger, plantains, blk beans, & green onions) & amazingly fresh avo salad. LOVE the texture of their Venezuelan Cheese Cachapas (sweet corn pancakes + melted cheese = Heaven on Earth!). I MUST have both these dishes 1-2x a week & originally found them @Off the Grid Alameda but recently learned you can find them all over the East Bay as well. Just check their Instagram Mons for weekly schedules. You do NOT want to miss out. Also try their hearty, zesty Beef Arepa Pabellon which pairs well with their fresh, tangy Tajin Salad. Just having the Tajin Salad alone is sublime. Freshest ingredients like watermelon, jicama, pineapple, mini-cucumbers, & avo perfectly balance the cotija cheese. Yummmm!

Luckily though, we didn't have an issue making a same day reservation. Once we were sat, it did take a bit for our server to get to us, but Wilfredo did great balancing how busy it was. So, we didn't really have an issue with it. He is so great we loved our interactions with him! For food, we ordered the Ceviche Limon, which had a combination of bright and citrusy (a lil spicy) sauce with fresh raw red snapper, squid, and shrimp with fried, crispy calamari tentacles. The combination of textures and flavors was delicious. We did opt in for the taro chips, which was the perfect vessel for the ceviche. We also ordered the Piqueo sampler, which had their chicharron de pollo, beef empanadas, platano frito, and yuca fries. Everything was delicious, though I was not super wowed by the empanadas and the yuca fries were a bit stale. The star of the show was the Fiesta de Carnes, which was their all meat platter with ribeye steak, grilled chicken, and pork belly with roasted potatoes chimichurri and aji amarillo. Ribeye was cooked perfectly, and the grilled chicken was quite literally the juiciest chicken I've had in a while. However, the pork belly was not crisp enough for both me and the amount of fat that the pork belly had. Had it been crispier this dish would have been 10/10. The aji amarillo was so good, not as spicy as other versions I've had before. I think it is worth the $2 they charge for extra. It was simplistic in decor but still fitting for the Peruvian cuisine the place executes well. Will be coming back to try pollo a la brasa or the arroz con mariscos.
