Katie was an excellent guide and provided visual aids (laminated maps of the city and more), great historical knowledge, and had a warm personality. She explained the history of the food we were having as well as other not-so-well-known-facts of Boston. We learned more from her in three hours than we did from another tour we took while visiting. Here is what we ate on our tour: Baked beans and brown bread, clam chowder, a lobster roll, and Boston cream pie. All of the places we experienced these foods had a unique history of their own. Our favorite was the clam chowder. The lobster roll was stuffed with lobster and came with fries. The beans were heavy on molasses, and the Boston cream pie was okay...not what we thought it was going to be. But it sure was pretty! We highly recommend this tour if you visit Boston. We walked outside and saw people getting off the duck tour boat around the corner. We asked a couple what they thought and they said listen it's pricey but DO IT! We had so much fun- and I could tell by their faces that they did. I've done it once before along time ago with my mom so I didn't really remember too much. And it was at the different location. But my fiancé had never experienced it and since I forgot about it we opted to do it, and I am beyond happy we did it, he wanted to drive to boat and was scared to raise his hand so I raised it for him, he was the last driver that day and he got to drive it pretty far. Needless to say he enjoyed it so much. I'm so glad we did it. We had the Skydiver he was funny and pretty cool. At 9:30 am the kiosk to buy tickets was open. However, if you already purchased tickets on line, you check in around the corner by the gigantic dinosaur under the black Boston Duck Tours umbrella. Captain Kim manned the Duck vehicle except for part of the tour on the Charles River when customer Katia from Texas volunteered to steer up and down the river. Ben, narrator shared info of how the history we learned in school was totally wrong. Who we thought were responsible for the Declaration of Independence were corrupt, spread propaganda about the Boston Massacre which started as an accidental rifle shot went off and to cover up lives were lost in the confusion. They names we thought were great men were actually planners of the Boston Tea Party. He even dispelled the story of Paul Revere riding through the streets shouting the British are coming... that shattered how history was portrayed and actually was a sham. Ben did point out The Union Oyster House where we chose to have lunch at after the duck tour. He also shared tidbits about Leonard Nimoy, where Kennedy used as a permanent address and how Adam Sandler is a regular whenever he visits Boston.

Signing up for the tour was easy enough though I don't really like the idea of paying the (optional) fee via PayPal. For some reason when I did that in New Orleans, it automatically created a new PayPal account for me, based on the email address I used. (Even though it says you don't need a PayPal account...) But this time when I attempted to use the same email to pay, it just wouldn't go through despite resetting the password and what not. Ended up asking hubby to pay with his PayPal. Quite a hassle. Other than that, our guide, Brian, was hilarious and passionate about educating us and I had a great time. We took the tour on Mother's Day and half of the 25 or so customers were from Europe. I think maybe there is a little language barrier as not everyone laughed at Brian's jokes. Plus it was a super windy and cold day and some just wanna go back to bed I guess. The tour was about 1 hour 45 mins. It really didn't walk far, maybe 1-1.5 miles. But I truly enjoyed the story telling. Highly recommend.

We are highly interested in learning all there is to know about different points of view and aspects of the Italian Mafia. Last fall we took a bus around Chicago while visiting the city for a hockey tournament and took a Mob Tour there. The Boston Mob Tour we attended yesterday for our son's 15th birthday was absolutely off the charts on every level and far surpassed the one we had taken in Chicago. We arrived at 9:45am for a 10am start, and to say that we lucked out by getting Mr. Michael Romano as our Tour Operator would be an understatement. We were greeted in Mr. Romano's first-class immaculate Suburban with plenty of room. We had the first tour of the day and luckily again enough for us, we were the only ones for this tour time. Thus, we held it privately, and felt like VIPs and were treated like such. Mr. Romano served as our photographer and took souvenir photos that was so very much appreciated. The rest of the tour was absolutely a blur. Mr. Romano was fascinating and endearing. He navigated around the city easily, and he felt like an old friend telling us everything about South Boston and the Irish mob and then hitting the North End, and to be quite honest, I was really sad having to say goodbye at the conclusion of our tour. I should also note that we live in Central Massachusetts. Thus, Boston is only about 35 minutes away. The word; "tourist" is not something I would throw around when referring to us visiting Boston and going on this tour at all. However, going on Mr. Michael Romano's Tour; www.theoriginalbostonmobtours.com is a MUST do for EVERYONE. It was one of the most fun, interesting and highly recommended tours I would tell anyone to go on - not only visiting the city, but for locals.
