Is this pricey? Yes! Is it worth the experience? Indeed! We originally were at the Museum of Science for the day and we needed something else to do- after. We walked outside and saw people getting off the duck tour boat around the corner. We asked a couple what they thought and they said listen it's pricey but DO IT! We had so much fun- and I could tell by their faces that they did. I've done it once before along time ago with my mom so I didn't really remember too much. And it was at the different location. But my fiancé had never experienced it and since I forgot about it we opted to do it, and I am beyond happy we did it, he wanted to drive to boat and was scared to raise his hand so I raised it for him, he was the last driver that day and he got to drive it pretty far. Needless to say he enjoyed it so much. I'm so glad we did it. We had the Skydiver he was funny and pretty cool. You get a lot of information about Boston, and then wham you go from land to sea- creepy but cool. It was kind of chilly that day, but we enjoyed yourselves. A nice tour for sure! read more

Honestly this was great for me and tween age kids because it gives them history in a way they dont roll their eyes... but I would say slow down thru Boston and the history, maybe pass by Old North Church... and the duck part is a schtick with little of interest. Arrived at 9 am for 9:30 am check in for 10 am duck tour. It was pouring so we waited inside the Museum of Science for half an hour, bought hot beverages, and used the facilities. At 9:30 am the kiosk to buy tickets was open. However, if you already purchased tickets on line, you check in around the corner by the gigantic dinosaur under the black Boston Duck Tours umbrella. Captain Kim manned the Duck vehicle except for part of the tour on the Charles River when customer Katia from Texas volunteered to steer up and down the river. Ben, narrator shared info of how the history we learned in school was totally wrong. Who we thought were responsible for the Declaration of Independence were corrupt, spread propaganda about the Boston Massacre which started as an accidental rifle shot went off and to cover up lives were lost in the confusion. They names we thought were great men were actually planners of the Boston Tea Party. He even dispelled the story of Paul Revere riding through the streets shouting the British are coming... that shattered how history was portrayed and actually was a sham. Ben did point out The Union Oyster House where we chose to have lunch at after the duck tour. He also shared tidbits about Leonard Nimoy, where Kennedy used as a permanent address and how Adam Sandler is a regular whenever he visits Boston. read more

I was still in my 20's the first two times I visited Boston and would've scoffed at doing something like THIS back then. Now I'm old and boring and absolutely loved doing THIS (with the rest of my family). We departed in front of the aquarium/wharf (which is stunning on its own) and that first minute I wasn't 'sold' on our guide's rapid-fire delivery of (intentionally awful) dad jokes mixed with local trivia and facts until I found myself cracking up and entirely too eager to partake in letting out a loud "QUACK!" when we were instructed to (usually aimed at the other boat-tour-guides we'd pass while making the rounds around town). A bit pricey but well worth it... sightseeing all over Boston (on land and water) and seeing and hearing a college semester's worth of (quality) information while being entertained - it would be our favorite "touristy" thing we did while up in Mass. Dare I say a bucket list item if you're in the Northeast? Had a blast doing the Duck Boat today. It probably isn't worth what they charge, but if you do the early tour they knock off $10, otherwise I probably would've passed. They also offer a combo ticket to the museum of science, if you're so inclined. If you've ever done a tour of Boston or live in the area, you're not going to hear anything new or unique during the tour. But that's not what you do the duck boats for; you do it for the experience of driving an amphibious motor vehicle on the water. Our tour guide Skipper the Skydiver (?) was ok. Informative and friendly, but too many dad jokes. Almost like he was trying to hard and not trying to be himself. But that's just me, others tended to get a kick out of the dad jokes. When on the water people are given the opportunity to "drive" the boat/vehicle as well. A fun time and the hour and half goes by fast. read more

When searching online for things to do in Boston, the bus tours came highly recommended and for good reason. Unlike say a double decker bus tour in New York where the sights you'll see are of the concrete jungle, the Boston Duck tours also have an aquatic portion to it. The bus wades through the river as you get a fun tour of the city on the water. The host of our bus tour, Paprika, was also very energetic and entertaining in their presentation of various sights in Boston I almost thought she was moonlighting as a comedian. It was a fun, quick tour of parts of the city that I would recommend getting a ticket for when the weather is nice. It's a great way to take in the sights, be on the water and relax on a warm, summer day. read more

P., delivered a rapid fire barrage of interesting facts and factoids as cruised through the city. He peppered his Boston accent delivery with tons of not-so-good dad-like jokes, but it was almost endearing. I love the duck tour. We were able to get our family of 6 on for just under $200. We bought our tickets at the science museum and left for that location for the tour. The kids loved the water and seeing the landmarks. They each got an opportunity to drive the boat in the water which was a highlight for them. I also enjoyed not walking half of the freedom trail to be honest, this was a great snip it of the walk and the sites to see. The tour has very little traffic at 10am and I would plan ahead for your day if you don't want to get stuck on the bus during high volume traffic times. I highly suggest this as one of your "Boston tourist" things to do. We moved to SoCal in 2012. I haven't been on one in many years and I enjoyed it as much as I had when I was young. read more

I've never been on a land and sea tour before, and it was such a fun experience! Reservations are the way to go, although there were seats available the day of in the morning. There are three locations to meet from, and we selected the Science Museum with their on-site parking garage. Our tour guide, who I shall remember as Duck Tracey, was very informative and could easily be heard while zipping through the streets and water way of Boston. This is an impressive feat because not only is the city loud, the vehicle itself is loud and bouncy. The duck boats take turns on the water portion, so there were slight delays negotiating around one another on the narrow roads, but other then that the tour was quick paced. I would definitely go again, and would love to go on Duck tours in other cities! read more

For $41 with fee for an hour and a half, it was a great way to see Boston. We scheduled online a few days before because they sell out quickly. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I bought corporate tickets for 7 people that I initially redeemed for Saturday 28th 9am and had to call them to purchase an additional child's ticket to add to our reservation. So far so good, except for the fact that during the redeeming of the ticket 3 separate reservations were generated, one of 6 adults, one of 1 adult, and one for 1 child, and that they got my first name wrong on the reservation twice. A day before departure I call to move the reservation from the 9am to the 6pm (same day, same departure location). At 4pm the day of departure, I checked the modified tickets and realized that only 1 ticket for one adult was moved to the 6pm slot, all others were still 9am reservations. Upon calling customer service and explaining the issue, I was told that what I saying "wasn't true and I was wrong". Then that the mistake they made wasn't their fault because they couldn't know that several reservations was under the same name. They first told me that the only thing that could be done was to reschedule at a later date, which I couldn't use as my guests were leaving the country the next day. I then asked to talk to a manager and was told that they could give me a coupon for any time but not reimburse me. When I accepted the coupon and asked to confirm that it was valid for the whole party of 7people + 1 child, the representative told me that it was only for 6 people and she had other clients to deal with and couldn't be bothered anymore! read more

It's a bus that turns into a boat and the driver allows you to drive the boat when you are in the river and they take pictures of you doing it!!! My husband had to go to Boston for a business conference, so I went too. I Love Boston. I've been to Boston before, and still love it. The Boston Duck Tours are so worth the money, whatever price you have to pay! It is so cool, I mean SO COOL that you are in this vehicle that is driving down the streets of Boston, and before you know it, you are in the water, rather, the Charles River! It's SO COOL! Granted, wear a light sweater, hoodie, or jacket, as you are out on the water, especially at night. Anyway, on the tour, you have the person who is actually driving the "duck," and you have a commentator, or someone else who is talking to you about all of the sites/history, all the things you are seeing while on the Duck Tour. It's really SO COOL!!!!! They explain how the vehicle works, but I don't remember that. I just remember that it's SO COOL!!!! You will NOT be disappointed if you go on the Boston Duck Tours. 1st day in Boston for family vacation, this was our first activity with Captain Robin the Riveter!!! When they drove up they were already cracking jokes, so I whispered to my husband, I hope we get to ride on their boat. And we did! It was a comical time full of great history and little known facts, very entertaining. It helped to do this first so that in the days to come as we walked the freedom trail we had an idea of where we were and which way we were headed.
