This visit, however, was more about the experience than the food, and unfortunately, it wasn't a good one. While waiting for my order, I noticed the staff (who seemed pretty young, not saying that negatively, just observationally) loudly talking about not getting tips. Loud enough for the whole place to hear. That was my first sign that the atmosphere might be off. When my order was ready, they didn't call out the item or confirm anything, they just said my name, tossed the tied-up bag on the counter, and walked away. I watched them call other orders properly with names and items, so the contrast stood out. Regardless of how good food may be, customer experience matters. I didn't ask for a manager because I've worked in management before, and I know staff behavior often reflects internal leadership and environment. Still, it's something worth noting: even for quick-service or takeout spots, courtesy and professionalism go a long way. This interaction felt dismissive and honestly off-putting. I'm not writing this to be harsh,just to be honest. Since it was our first time, I expected more engagement from the front end staff, however, while we were eating my a woman who appeared to be the manager/owner came over and engaged with us and asked how my daughter enjoyed her meal. The Pho was just okay. I had the veggie pho. My 8 year old daughter had the beef pho. She enjoyed hers but we've had better. Was super excited to try this place out and easily spent $50 because the menu was so appealing. Ordered a strawberry matcha latte, salt and pepper wings, spring rolls and pho. The matcha was very light in taste, very watered down or either didn't use enough matcha. But it definitely had potential and I enjoyed the strawberry flavoring. The wings were nice and crispy, I wish I had picked one with a sauce though. These also had potential. The spring rolls were so basic. Good but basic, nothing alarming nothing standing out. The pho was the most disappointing bowl of pho I've ever had in my life. There was no indication of this being authentic pho made with beef bones. It almost tasted like dish water. The only thing saving the pho by any means was the fresh herbs and garnishes. I'm pretty sure this has to be an instant pho base but extremely watered down, hence the dish water taste or tap water taste. And I've never been anywhere that served instant pho, I mean you may as well buy the instant pho from the grocery store. I'm so disappointed. I paid about $19 alone for the pho as build your own with a spicy beef broth. Which for something tasting instant is way overpriced. It's an interesting find in the area. The drinks are delicious, particularly the peach mango smoothie. It's creamy and fruity with chunks of real fruit, absolutely addictive! The chicken bahn mi was also tasty and fresh. The wings are also crispy and flavorful. I'd definitely go back to try the pho. They also sell Asian snacks and sauces which is useful. I have been to this place a few times and never ordered Pho because I didn't want to be disappointed. And I was so disappointed: it looked like Pho, didn't smell like Pho; and it did not have that rich/deep/lingering Pho's flavors. Besides, the usual spices of hoisin, Sriracha (they had a Sriracha like hot sauce which was more sour), I added fish suace, Maggie sauce, for some flavors, it didn't help. And I didn't like that the thick Pho noodles were not used. However, the Saigon coffee was delicious! It was super rich, creamy, at 30% sweet it was perfect for me. Such an adorable spot and a really nice addition to this community. As a vegetarian, it was always difficult for me to find options at the local restaurants. This menu boasts plenty of options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. They were very accommodating, friendly, and I had a wonderful time looking at their Asian goods for sale while waiting for my food. This review is based on my experience today only , purchased a strawberry matcha latte, strawberry sky burst lemonade and mango fruit tea. My daughter had the strawberry lemonade, SUPER sweet, assuming it's coming from the jelly they add to the bottom. The ice is needed to help water it down. Son had the mango fruit tea, he said it wasn't very sweet, and most of the sweetness came from the popping boba he added. But he did like it. The strawberry matcha, I waited 30 mins for, somehow it was skipped over. I tasted a small hint of matcha, it was mainly milk and strawberry jelly. I would NOT recommend. Yes!! I am so excited to see a solid Asian restaurant come to Waldorf. Coco Bay definitely fills a niche. The restaurant is clean and inviting. You order at the counter and then sit where ever you want. I brought my mom and we had a tasting dinner. We started with the Spicy Mango. The heat of the chili sauce was balanced perfectly by the ripe mango pieces and fresh cilantro. We then had delicious Fried Coconut Shrimp, followed by a Vegetarian Spring Roll (I think I would have preferred the Shrimp and Pork). The Shrimp Summer Roll was gummy and flavorless. I'm honestly disappointed to say that the quality of this place has significantly declined over the past few months. This used to be one of my go-to spots whenever I was in town for doctor's appointments. I would genuinely brag about the service, the peaceful aesthetic, and the overall experience. The vibe was beautiful, the décor felt elevated, and the staff would greet you warmly and bring your food directly to your table. It felt high-quality and worth tipping for. Unfortunately, that is no longer the experience. I recently visited with my mother and was truly embarrassed. We had to repeatedly get up ourselves to grab drinks, appetizers, and food as they came out one by one, several minutes apart. It was frustrating and made it impossible to actually sit and enjoy our meal together. What once felt classy now feels low-budget and self-serve. Ceramic bowls and real silverware have been replaced with plastic to-go containers. Even when dining in, food was handed to me in a plastic bag wrapped in plastic as if it were carryout -- and no one even asked whether it was for here or to go, despite me sitting at a table. I tip for service. I don't mind contributing for good hospitality. But this now feels like a carryout operation charging dine-in expectations. If the experience is self-service and minimal, the tipping culture attached to it feels misplaced. I truly hope management sees this. The way things were run just a few months ago was consistently excellent. I don't know what changed, though I have noticed new staff. Regardless of the reason, the quality has clearly declined. First impression review! I've been twice having placed an online order both times. Each time the food was ready on time in the pickup area. The first time with chicken pho was amazing! All the components are packaged separately so you can easily assemble and enjoy later. The soy garlic wings were good but heavy on the garlic so FYI. The second time I went, I tried the vegetable pho and a matcha latte. The vegetable mix is whichever assortment they have. The mix I had was cauliflower, mushroom, carrots, and broccoli. This wasn't my favorite combination, so I didn't enjoy it as much. With milk tea, I love being able to adjust sweetness, which you can't do as of now. The combinations all look great though! Came in to try the ramen. My daughter has been asking to try this place. The staff was friendly but not very familiar with the menu or the ordering system. When we walked in we weren't sure how or where to place our order. We stood at the counter for a few minutes and someone let us know we could take a look at the menu which was a book. They also have a menu on their screen, which moves very fast. The menus both show different selections. I suggest checking both for all options. I love everything about Coco Bay! So where do I begin? Well, let me start off by saying, I'm intentional about my food experiences. I prefer fresh, flavorful and healthy food. I also love a dining environment that has some sort of ambiance. Coco Bay delivers both! There's a variety of options for both food and beverages that go beyond the typical Asian fare you see in the area. The way it's cooked and served makes a huge difference in the experience too. The staff is meticulous about ensuring that you have what you want and need. They're also helpful with suggestions. I do have a gluten intolerance, so it can be difficult to find enjoyable food in most restaurants. Coco Bay actually offers several that are satisfying and delicious. My favorites are the Summer rolls, a few of the rice bowls, and definitely the Pho!! I can't neglect to mention the drinks. The Italian sodas are my favorites but they have boba tea and others that look delectable as well. The service is amazing. I've visited at least 10 times and I've always gotten warm, welcoming and attentive help. I even had a situation where one of my Summer roll dishes had wilted lettuce and the staff resolved the issue by having a fresh plate made for me right away. The second plate measured up to the standard of food I was used to from CCB and was delicious! Now, lastly, the environment is visually appealing, has related vibes, and always has nice music. I forget to wish everyone a happy New Year in my first review of 2024, so Happy New Year!! I'm excited to continue writing for the Yelp Elite Squad, and with that being said, let's get to it! This review of the new and somewhat unique, but certainly tasty, food option to SOMD is a bit complex. Here's why... Coco Bay Kitchen and Tea House (CBKTH) from a food option and taste perspective deserves 5 Stars, it really does! But the reason that I selected 3 stars because quite simply, there's room for improvement. This eatery is located in the Waldorf Shoppers World shopping center between Aldi's and the space once occupied by Bed, Bath and Beyond. The cuisine is Asian/Thai with options like Pho Bowls, Pad Thai, Fried Rice Bowls, flavored wings, etc... To belabor the point, the food is absolutely delicious, ABSOLUTELY!!! And for that, I will continue to frequent this establishment. So, I've had CBKTH on two occasions. My first order was a 'to go' order and everything from service to timeliness to quality and quantity of the food was quite excellent. However, some may say slightly expensive. Now here's where a couple of stars were compromised. On my second visit, I took my wife here for a lunch date. She was not even aware that this place even existed, but I knew she would enjoy the menu options, and she did! Again, our food was just terrific, but what gave me pause is when the young worker emptied the trash/garbage right beside us. Emptying the trash is necessary, but to have it occur beside you for 10 minutes while you are eating, is just off putting to say the least. In my countless years of dining out, I've never noticed this albeit necessary cleaning step. Generally, 'sit down' dining has two options. Option 1) They clear the table for you and the food discards are handled out of sight. Option 2) the trash containers are near the exit, away from the dining area. However, CBKTH trash containers are smack dead in the middle of the dining area. Management should consider relocating these containers for just this reason. Whereas the store, in and of itself, is designed quite well, the aesthetics are polite, and the mood is pleasant with cool music. But, the aesthetics are compromised with boxes of supplies everywhere. Not sure if this is a storage issue or an organization issue. Either way, the guest area would fair better without these distractions. Lastly, specifically for the Pho Bowl options, when a customer is dining in, CBKTH should provide dinnerware and utensils. Note: they have proper dinnerware. You have to ask for it. My more accurate rating is 3.5 stars, but Yelp does not allow for 1/2 stars. Also, I believe that these issues can be easily addressed. Let me be clear, these issues will not prevent me from returning, nor should they stop anyone from trying CBKTH. But, management will benefit from being aware of how the total restaurant experience lands on their patrons. My recommendation level - I strongly recommend As always, enjoy the photos. read more

Decided to go out and get some food for me and my Baby Girl. We are counting down the weeks as this week is week 33 of us waiting for Grandson #4. The Gentleman taking my order was so gracious and kind. I told him that I had never had Pho so he recommended the Beef Pho. As it is a cold day in Maryland, 26 degrees and windy as we speak, I decided to get their Honey Ginger Tea while I waited. It was so good. The spiciness of the Ginger with the sweetness of the honey and the warmth of the tea gave me life! I am hooked I don't know a whole lot about Vietnamese food except that it is delicious and amazing. I have several co-workers who spoiled me with their amazing dishes. However, I never had Pho. I don't know much about Pho but I was told that you taste the broth before you do anything else. The broth was everything! A bowl of flavorful warm goodness! The toppings just added more goodness to it. Honestly, I could just have plain Pho and be extremely happy.
