I know it's greasy burgers, but the flavors really were excellent! Slight char to the patty was perfect. Also tried the Korean chicken wings--delicious! Most importantly, the staff was super friendly. We had had more than one experience in Cruz bay where the staff just seemed like they hated their job--the people wining at Tap weren't rushed, were happy to keep drink refills coming, and regularly attended to us. I would never give a 1 star review unless it was near death experience. Well, they sort of earned it. On the plus side, it was very busy and had good vide. Patrons were nice and all having a good time. There is no hostess and no rules. You just have to fend for yourself. Fair enough. We were clearly told the wait for food was pushing an hour, at least they were honest. We decided to stay and get drinks at the bar and wait for a table to open. Which we pounced on one and waited there for our food to arrive. Well, an hour became 1:15 and then 1:30 and I eventually nicely asked when we might expect our food and was told "when it arrives". I get they are busy and I'm not a jerk, but when I am told an hour for food, at an hour and a half, I think it is Ok to make sure something didn't get lost in the shuffle. About 15 minutes later, some of our food arrived and I asked where the rest was they said this was all that was ordered. Well, that's BS because I know what I put on the paper when we ordered. I asked if I could get the rest that was "lost" and told it would be another hour plus. This was their mistake not mine. So be it. We had another round of drinks. And waited. And the other food never should up. At this point we just decided we had enough. I asked 5 times for our tab and after 30 minutes I got a huge tab with all kinds of stuff on it that was not ours. I calmly told the person this is not our tab and I wrote down exactly what we actually ordered and consumed. I asked nice for a manager and was told "we don't have one". I asked who is in charge then, and was told "no one is in charge". That speaks volumes right there. So, when I got the supposedly corrected bill after another 20 minutes and it also included things we never had and I was at my limit. I should have just left without paying but I decided to leave cash for what the bill should have been and had my 4 hours of fun watching what gross incompetence looks like and what happens when "no one is in charge". When you come to the islands (which I do often), you come to expect a different level of service and a slower response time. I know and accept that. But this was off the charts unacceptable. It seems they make enough profit being the disaster of a place it is. But no one needs to deal with this level of incompetence. I think they survive because the food and prices are good. But I don't expect to wait 4 hours for burgers and not even what we originally ordered and then get multiple bills that are wrong multiple times. Go at your own risk. I would stay away. Unless you like crowed big groups and long waits to hopefully get what you ordered and then ask to pay for 3 other tables food. It's a compete shit show. And one I will tell everyone to stay away from at all cost. read more

Food was great but took a while. The hotdogs are interesting -- they are quartered and served on a burger bun so they lay flat in the sandwich. The topping options are good, unlimited, and free for what are usually premium additions (grilled onions, mushrooms, etc at no extra cost). Preparing our meal took a long time for what seem like very standard options of burgers and hotdogs. The prices were reasonable for full meals, and everything was delicious! All orders are submitted by filling in a sheet. The fries weren't my favourite as they felt a little soggy, even though we had them as soon as they came out. The Korean Style wings were great -- flavourful, crunchy on the outside and with tender meat inside. After a day at Salomon and Honeymoon beaches, we hiked back into Cruz Bay. Tap & Still had caught our eye the previous night when we were at Woody's, so we decided to try it. Tap & Still is at an intersection in Cruz Bay, with lots of car and foot traffic, at least by St. John standards. The place was packed! The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, but everyone was friendly. The bartender was super helpful to my wife in selecting beers for us, and getting our order completed. We managed to squeeze in along the front railing, overlooking the street. My wife had the BLT, and I had the black bean burger. Our food came in paper bags (fun presentation), and we shared some fries, which were outstanding. We each had a local beer, an excellent choice. After a fun, long, hot day on Magens Bay, we literally stumbled across Tap & Still; we were incredibly hungry and their great food and cold beers were just what the Doctor ordered! The ordering system and menu are simple; they serve dogs, wings, chicken, burgers, and fries with a plethora of toppings, and then they bring everything wrapped in foil in paper bags. Tip: If you happen to be a fan of the Fries and Burgers at Five Guys, then you're gonna LOVE the ones they serve here - the food is uncannily similar, but several notches better :-) On the beverage front, their bartenders will provide all the usual tropical suspects; they've also got a full bar and a great selection of local beers on tap. The service is friendly and attentive; the portion sizes are generous and the prices are pretty damn reasonable for St. Thomas. The Tap & Still was our first meal on the Island of Saint John. Once you have eaten here it easily becomes a go to spot with each return visit. Their hamburgers and fresh cut fries are delicious. There is a fully bar and the service is friendly. Each table has paper menus and a cup of pencils. Each person fills out their order by checking what you want along with all of the added toppings. Once you check off your preferences the server takes over and a short time later your meal is delivered to your table. The food comes out like a Five Guys to go order. Everything is in a brown paper bag with the burgers and hotdogs wrapped in foil. We ordered a hotdog, burgers , fries and a funnel cake. I have never eaten a funnel cake with a hamburger before but once you try it you will go back for more. There is something wonderfully indulgent about the flavor combination. The hotdog is cut in half and down the center. They seem to press it on the griddle. It is served in a hamburger bun and has crispy ends. It's different but very tasty. read more
