Very disappointed. First time here. I'm staying a block away and thought it'd be super convenient. So I called first to make sure they had room and time for me. The guy at the front desk said they were busy and gave me 5:30 appointment time. Which I happily took. When I showed up they were definitely busy but he greeted me and asked me to wait & pick a color. He returned and instead of walking me to the seat he tried to describe where I was seated and told me to go ahead. I went toward where he pointed and took the seat I thought he was talking about. After seated I watched as every other person got walked to the chair and handed a menu. I took it as they were busy and asked for a menu so I could choose my service. I requested they're $55 honey pedicure & $35 deluxe manicure. This is where it all went wrong. As soon as the girl started my toes I can tell she was rushing. She finished my pedicure in 20 minutes then began my nails. As soon as she started the front desk comes and ask her how long she will be because another woman came in that needed to leave by 7. It was 6:30. After being asked two more times she finished my manicure in 10 minutes. It was the crappiest treatment I have ever experienced. It didn't help watching everyone else get treated so nicely and me being the only person of color in there for a service made me question they're entire business perspective. In the end I got up and left refusing to pay for the manicure. Sad part is I'm in the industry and was happy to pay plus tip fir a good service but this entire experience was shit! Arrived and only had to wait 15 minutes without an appointment. Nice big space with massage chairs that are amazing and nice bowls for your feet. My water was a great temperature. I got the classic pedicure $27 which includes taking off dead skin and a scrub. Very nice pedicure and I also go the gel manicure $35 which I do think the price is steep for a manicure but a gorgeous finish either way. No arm massage but a nice hand massage. $67 total Both ladies took their time and did a great job. I will be back soon. First time and I had a great experience. read more

I came in for a pedicure and full set acrylic manicure on August 2nd. The pedicure was fine, the acrylics seemed good too until the next day when the gel started peeling and bubbling one layer under another. I called to ask if I could get them fixed and they were able to do that a couple of days later, but again, the day after they were "fixed" they were peeling and bubbling. I called AGAIN and spoke to one of the men at the front desk and was told that they would fix them again but couldn't give me my money back, and because I thought the problem was with the polish he said they could do a color change. I was happy with that, but when I showed up I was told that they wouldn't be doing the color change and would only be fixing 2 of the most damaged nails. The woman who did those 2 nails seemed extremely irritated and was slamming everything around even though I had an appointment and was being extremely reasonable. In the end I was given a $25 gift card but in the single week since then, they have started peeling again and one just popped off completely. At this point I have probably spent close to $100 if not more on this simple, single color acrylic manicure and tips for all 3 people who did the work. I am in LOVE with this place! I've gone three times, and each time is better than the last. The staff are all super kind and the nail techs are very talented! I've gotten dip twice and gel once, and both options are good quality and last for a while! I usually come for a fill every 3-4 weeks. Today I got a fresh set, so they took off my old acrylics and put new ones on. This set is definitely my favorite so far. I paid cash (which is cheaper than paying with card), so it was $66 for me. I consider that a great price because of everything they did! I usually come with two other friends, one gets acrylics and the other just paints her nails, but they also love it here! Let me start this review with this, the first and last time I got my acrylics done they looked horrible and the lady was heavy handed with the drilling. I got to my car and cried because of what they did to my nails. So I was scared to get them done again. I live right next to here and wanted to spend some birthday cash so I decided to try one last time. Kim is absolutely amazing. I immediately broke down at the chair and told her about my last nail experience. She reassured me, told me I should be happy and she was going to make my nails beautiful. She was so right!!! They looked so good I cried. She made them short like I wanted, plus her and another lady got me the perfect color I wanted. They look beautiful. Kim was fast and efficient while also being kind and gentle on my hands. The full set only took an hour. I work retail and I'm very hard on my nails, so they were pretty torn up. I always see the women coming in with pretty nails and always hid my hands when we started talking about them because I was so embarrassed about my nails. Now I can show mine off too!!! I've been searching for a quality nail salon in Tacoma for my entire adult life, every place I've been to has been disappointing until now. I called ahead to make an appointment, which I highly recommend doing. My nail tech was Sam, she gave me the best nail shape I've received EVER. She completed a full set of SNS nails in just over an hour. The polish is close to the cuticles and is not overly thick like other salons I've visited. They had hundreds of SNS colors to choose from which was amazing. Additionally, they have a rewards program at the check out counter that you can sign up for on an iPad. I will update my review in two weeks or soto show how my nails held up. 19 days later! SNS held up great! Two days ago they started to separate from the nail near my cuticles and just today I got a chip. I'm getting them redone today! read more

I came in for acrylic's with dip nail polish and I FELL IN LOVE! I originally forgot to tell her that I wanted acrylics, so she has to restart after 8-10 minutes. I felt so bad for switching up on her, but she was very nice about it. She gave me exactly what I wanted! The store itself provides iconic hospitality by offering wine to sip on during your service. Update: Only a week and a half after my visit, the gel nail polish is now peeling off of my nails. I have never had this happen with shellac polish. Definitely don't plan to return to this salon. Original: I have to say, I was kinda disappointed after reading all the positive reviews. I came on a Saturday and they were SUPER busy. They sat my friend and I down immediately because we had appointments, but I still waited almost 20 minutes for my nail artist to show. It seemed pretty clear to me that those 20 minutes would come out of my manicure time. She was perfectly friendly, but it all seemed very rushed. Hardly any cuticle care and she applied the shellac so far from my cuticles that the manicure looked weeks old just a few days after getting it. I understand that they were super busy, but I'm pretty sad that less than a week later, I'm ready to remove my $40 manicure. I don't think I'll be back here. read more

******************LONG POST***************** If you are someone who gets acrylics done, please read. I came to this place because I had happened to be in the area and needed my nails done for a special event. I went through review after reviews of different places and this one seem to have the most positive. On google search it stated a full acrylic session would cost $30, didn't read their actual website (bad on me) but was expecting an average cost. When I arrived they seemed pretty busy but were able to get me in within 15 min, perfect. I informed the lady who was doing my nails that I wanted short acrylics and square with a soft edge. I even showed her an exact photo of what I had wanted and she understood what I was looking for. After I had explained that I wanted acrylics, she immediately tried to refer me into getting a powder dip manicure. I did not want a powdered dip, I asked for acrylics. She made several attempts to keep telling me I should do powder instead of acrylics because of the damage the acrylic can do to my nails. I am fully aware of the outcome, but did not come in to have powder done and if acrylics is what I am asking for then that is what she should be complying with. Not an argument. It's already hard enough to not feel pressured in these nail salons and I was not feeling welcomed with what I had wanted at this point. During the process of my nails she did not once cut my cuticles, lotion my hands (like you would receive at any other nail salon), nor did she give me the shape/cut I wanted for my nails. After receiving minimal effort, the cost of this was $40 + $5 tip (no greater tip was going to be given because of the experience I had). I was so displeased and beyond upset with my nails that I had gone to Rite Aid for a nail filer to reshape them myself. A day later, the acrylics are already starting to peel from my nail and even more upset because I am now $45 down plus having to go back into the nail salon (where I usually go) to have them redone. A waist of time and money, I will never come here again. read more

Let me start by saying I like to give establishments fair chances. I go several times before ever reviewing because everyone can have an off day and I love giving good reviews. However, this salon had so much going for them but They fail big time when it comes to decent customer service, kindness and value. Pros: Nice view, decent decor/music/salon, good color options, owners give back to community (they seem to vocalize that a lot), and decent wait times. I've never had to wait long especially with appt made prior. Cons: Many dont speak with with you or even say hi, how are you. If you dont want to talk to your customer or dont speak the language at least smile or use gentle gestures. Pushing my feet around and hands seems to be a bit rude and aggressive. When being tickled, I smiled and usually reciprocated instead I literally got looks from the nail technicians as if being annoyed. When they got the wrong color, I chose 29 they grabbed 26, quickly it became a huge discussion obviously in their language. The gestures made, the side looks, the constant chatter under breathe, the pushing of limbs, the overall lack of kindness showed. It made me feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable. So I can officially say I tried more then enough times to know they lack in overall kindness, sub par work, and parking isnt great either. There are many other salons that I've had recommended to me by patients one off of 6th Ave. I'll be sure to start trying them! read more

I decided to take my daughter out for a little pampering and lunch on her baby boy's scheduled arrival date. We were hoping once she had pretties up her toes the little guy would be ready to enter the world! We went with the $35 Winter Pedicures which includes a hot basalt stone massage of the feet and calves and a paraffin wax dip. I give this pedicure an OK. On the positive side, we were checked in and promptly seated on time. I always appreciate not having to wait around when I make an appointment in advance. The chairs were clean & comfortable with fully functional massagers. The soaking tub was clean and had a disposable liner, a good way to prevent bacterial infections that are common in spas with less-than-stellar hygiene. On the down side, there was no offer of a bottle of water, cup of tea or anything else. Pretty cheap. We put our feet in to soak and the manicurists went right to work on removing the old polish. I think they should have allowed a few minutes of soaking before jumping into the pedicure. Points off for shortchanging the relaxation! Next came the nail & cuticle trims. We both requested short nails - my daughter's manicurist obliged and gave her a nice nail trim. My manicurist went strait to shaping & filing. Again I asked for a short trim - she smiled and nodded her head. The dreaded response from someone who clearly has no command of the English language. Not good. I realize most of these women are immigrants, which is great, but when you work in a personal service business you need to at least understand the basic lingo of your business. "Please cut my nails short" should be understood by a manicurist. After filing my nails and trimming the cuticles, she then pulled out the dreaded "cheese grater" to which I promptly said "No!" However, she proceeded to pick up my food and prepared to grate my foot callouses. Again and louder I said "No grater!" which caught the attention of the man who must be her boss. He explained to her not to use the grater so she swapped it for a pumice stone, flashed it at me with a smile & nod and proceeded to scrub my feet. Next came the hot stone massage with a couple of mildly warm rocks that lasted a few minutes. I've had much better hand massages with standard pedicures. This was followed by the paraffin wax dip. The wax was the right temp and there was a nice coating on the feet. Again, the time allowed to let the wax dip do its thing was pretty short. Finally we got to the nail polish and drying. My manicurist applied one clear coat, then one coat of my selected polish (they have the Opi brand of polishes) and she left me to air dry. My daughter received a clear topcoat on her color, I did not. The best I can give is 2 stars for cleanliness and for not drawing blood while trimming. The big negative was the language barrier - the manicurist was unable to understand my needs or communicate with me. The stone massage & paraffin waxing was meh. Overall the entire "spa" experience was absent as we were rushed through each element of the treatment that aids in relaxation. The polish job was also meh - no topcoat means my polish will not hold up well. No offer of a beverage was also very un spa-like. We were in and out in under an hour - if I went for a quickie pedicure this would be great, but I wanted to give my very pregnant daughter a relaxing spa experience which was only ho-hum. I can't recommend pedicures here and won't be going back. read more

My family and I love to get pedicures. So we thought we'd try a new place since our current place raised their prices with no improvement in customer services. Although this place prices were with in budget there salón customer services was mediocre at best. My Pedicure chair was broke, the soaking water was luke warm and the staff was passive and inattentive and borderline rude. Called and got in same day which was great. I got the peppermint pedi...mmmm nice. Nina did a great massage and around my toenails. I am diabetic and feet aren't quite right anymore. This place came highly recommended by a close friend, and while the services were good, they weren't by any means spectacular and the prices are a bit higher than normal for the quality of work. The pedicure area appeared clean, and while their menu boasts of their cleaning practices, I didn't witness any major cleaning or disinfecting when I was there. I opted for a manicure and pedicure combo. After watching me look for a polish color for 5+ minutes, I was told there were more options elsewhere. They proceeded to start my manicure while sitting in the chair. I hate that. Give me the option. If i'm paying for a manicure, I was the full monty not the half-done manicure they do while you're getting a pedicure. The lady doing my manicure was super chatty, and while I can enjoy my nail tech being friendly, and this being more of a "spa" environment I guess I just expected it to be calm and somewhat quiet which it wasn't. The gal who did my pedicure didn't really get into smoothing my heels and didn't even ask if I wanted my nails shortened which was a major bummer. When my mani and pedi were done, and my nails were wet, my massage chair was turned on without my consent and I couldn't figure out how to adjust it. It was hurting my back so much that i sat there the remainder of the time hunched forward to avoid the chair. I was left there without instruction or magazines while my nails dried, the two gals had moved on and disappeared. The polish on my hands was so thick, it wasn't drying very fast at all. After 20 minutes I asked if I could go, and found that the polish still wasn't dry and was actually goopy. The pedicure gal came back and applied more polish (ugh), another top coat then sprayed my nails with the chemical stuff that helps them dry. I sat for another 10 minutes before I gave up and started to gather my things. By the time I made it up front to pay for my services, the arm band with the price I owed was stuck to my arm. I felt like I had to interrupt the lady nearest to the card machine to pay, and at no point did she even make eye contact. I was able to fix the nail polish that remained all over my fingers, but today, after seeing the polish on my fingers fully dried, it looks sloppy, there are a couple of gobs of clear coat and some bubbles in the polish. This is the first place I've gone to where they don't powder your legs before placing the wax on & then trying to rub the wax off. Waxing was very uncomfortable & painful. & I have so many patches so it kinda sucks that they charged me more when they didn't even do a good job. My pedicure was probably the only best part. & then I asked for a full set, acrylic & gel. They offered the dip. & I said okay I'll try it, thinking I was still gunna get a full set of nails because I wanted longer nails. The lady who I got was so distracted that she started cutting my nails. Then placed only one fake nail on my pinky to make up for it. & they did a dip on my natural nails. If I had known a dip meant natural nails I would've stuck to acrylic & gel because the job was so crappy. My nails look very crooked as my natural nails have a crappy shape. They still charged me for a full set which again I didn't even get. So thanks for stealing my money & charging me for a service I never got that I had asked for. I've been patronizing La Bella for about 6 months and am almost ready to make my next appointment - I think that says something about how consistent the service and quality of work is. My first time was your standard shellac polish change, with one of the newer technicians. She did a nice job, but it wasn't until my second appointment that I became a La Bella convert. My chance, I ended up in Martina's chair, and I've been seeing her ever since. I did not know that designs were even possible with shellac polish! She is super creative, patient, and I really look forward to seeing what she'll come up with - we work together to pick colors, but I really trust her design input. I want fun nails, and she makes that happen. I am 2 weeks in on my current manicure, and I don't have a single chip! I'm giving 4 stars since La Bella is a little on the spendy side, and the parking is atrocious. Otherwise, this place is top notch! read more

Amazing spa pedicures! There are nail salons all over pierce county but this is by far my favorite. I've tried others and the service or quality never matches up to what I receive at LaBella. Better massages then half of the massage therapists I've been to also. They don't skip out on the massage either. I always pay for an extra ten minutes and I don't have to worry about watching the clock to make sure I'm getting my monies worth because they always go over. Hands down, the best nail salon in Tacoma. The salon itself is extremely clean and has a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly and take their time to provide the best service. Every time I've come here, I've left extremely happy and satisfied. I always get a manicure with gelac and glitter on my ring finger as an accent finger. Instead of just applying two layers of glitter gelac polish on it, like most places would, the owner always comes with a bottle of actual glitter to add to my nail to make it opaque. That is the attention to detail that I love. They always take their to make sure the polish is streak free and my cuticles are perfect. This is probably the only salon I've been to where the technicians are very professional and take time to talk to you instead of talking about you to each other. Spent two hours there. The opacity of the gel colors on their sample nails is way off. Got two coats and wasn't even close to the dark red I had originally chosen. I put on a layer of normal color at home to get the desired shade. Anyways, she did the job poorly considering how long it took her and how much I paid. This is by far one of the best, longest lasting manicures I've ever had.
