About 30 minutes later the lady who originally did my nails came in. After the man was done she asked him a question about my nails. Even though it wasn't in English I knew because he shook his hair and pointed to the top of his nail. He repeated himself a couple times and kept pointing to his finger so I can only assume he was reiterating that my nails were cracked. The station I was told to sit at when I had to go back was dirty from the day before. Clipped tips were all over the floor, the towel from the day before was on the station with clippings and acrylic drops. The tools from both visits were not clean and rusty. The nail brushes to wash your nails were all first and has that reddish algae that builds up at the base. I gave 2 stars because the man to redid my nails was very nice! I will definitely not be going back to that salon.

This was my first time ever getting builder gel and I liked the outcome and had a good experience. The only complaint I have is that my appointment was at 6pm and they close at 7pm and I could tell they fully rushed my nail process. They got the entire set done in 45 minutes. I understand they were closing soon but they shouldn't accept appointments that late if they plan to rush the client out of the place. A few days into the nails and they started to lift. Wednesday the 20th two nails popped off perfectly with little effort. Almost every single other nail was lifting at the cuticle, my hair was getting caught in them and they were painfully lifting and I knew they wouldn't last much longer. I called La Bella today the 20th (so I only had the nails on for 6 days, to my knowledge builder gel can last up to 3-5 weeks). I called La Bella today asking for an appointment to get them fixed. The hostess that answered the phone was very nice and she told me they would most likely fix the nails for free because that was not supposed to happen. I went in tonight around 5pm at my scheduled appointment and I asked for dip nails instead because dip is what I was used to and I know they last. I was happy with my appointment the nail tech seemed to take her time and I loved my new nails. But I was very annoyed when I checked out when they tried to charge me the full price of dip nails which was 65 dollars. I asked to speak to a manager and explained the situation. He told me it was not acceptable that the nails only lasted 6 days. He said he would charge me $45 instead. I didn't fight or fuss and I paid the full price. I am extremely annoyed there was no communication that the previous hostess told me the nails would be on the house and I feel like as a business they should've fixed their mistake. I fully planned on tipping my nail tech a good tip for redoing my nails and ensuring they were a good set. I don't know if I will be back to La Bella because of this experience and it saddens me because I truly love this place.

I got what's called the buildable gel manicure that doesn't require you to remove the gel polish after each visit. I've been coming to Cindy's for 23 years, my first manicure was when I was 5 years old. I love them…read morelike family! They're more old fashion, but they take great care of you. They have these big black cushioned computer chairs but will find ways to make you feel comfortable. They have the pedicure buckets but their massages are next level. If you ask for water/juice/tea they bring it. And have a small tv that will typically have a good movie on! They are very detailed but if there's anything you want for your experience ask and they do it. As I got older there's trends I like and typically if I show them a photo they get really close. Another thing is time, they take care of every cuticle and your nails will go through some processes so it be may be more to the time consuming side. If you're in a rush let them know ahead of time. But a full set mani-pedi from them runs anywhere between 1-2.5 hours and about $70-90 without a tip (which use to be a lot less for the longest but they have to increase prices because competition and the economy). They are the most integral. Do sweet and actually care about their work. I might have special treatment but kindness goes a long way with them! Fills start at $40+ and fills run you about $25 flat (cash only)

DISCLAIMER: I have not had my nails done here. This review doesn't pertain to the quality of their manicures because I have yet to experience them. My review is regarding their lack of communication and info. Not having a website that lists your products, services, and prices is unthinkable. Having a Facebook page in lieu of a website that contains no contact info is also just as pointless. I suppose they're relying on word-of-mouth advertising exclusively? Somehow I found an email address (I can't remember where - for whatever reason I became momentarily obsessed with contacting them, perhaps just to prove to myself that it could actually be done?) and I asked them about pricing and services. Surprise, surprise - NOTHING. No reply. Nada. If their attention to their online presence is anything like their attention to nails, I would run screaming away from this place. Cute salon, but looks can be deceiving... Very unsanitary. I just read a review on here today from Angela in the hidden reviews section, I wish I would of seen that earlier! Totally witnessed the same actions. He did not spray down the pedicure tubs at all! I was already finished with my pedicure when I saw that, it was too late... I did ask the gal that did my toes about it, but she did not understand me. They all seem nice, but sanitation is very important to me. Seems like they just waned to rush to get the next client in. This is by far the best nail salon I've ever been to! I live in Lakewood so for me to be willing to drive to downtown Tacoma t his shop has to be nothing but the best, they are so friendly and soooooo clean! In most nail shops there's that annoying smell of acrylic, not at La Bella it smells like cinnamon and spices, the soothing music is awesome and the Winter pedicure is to die for! Do not waste your money. I was in by 5:30 in the evening and paid for the Winter Pedicure. The lady was done with the job by 5:40 and moved on to someone else. I am very dissatisfied with the level of attention and lack of service. I was not given half the service that is advertised. Spend the $35 dollars elsewhere. read more

He took his time and paid a lot of attention to the shape and the care of my nails. I had a bad experience with builder gel before (at a different salon) but Dan assured me he would do a good job so I trusted him. I also received a pedicure and was very happy. Overall 10/10 experience, these nail techs were so sweet to talk to and I will definitely be going back. I also got 15% off for being a first time client, and they said there is a 10 day "warranty" on the nails and to come back if anything goes wrong and they will fix. :) Hopefully I found my long term nail salon!

They remodeled, so it looks more updated, but its a whole new staff/company. I had high hopes, but I am so picky and was sad Unique Nails were no longer. I made an appointment the day prior for 9:30am. I had a gentleman as my nail tech, I showed him long oval nails, he glued on my pinky nail crooked so he had to remove the glued nail off and try again. I started to get nervous. My nails took half the time as others in, I'm assuming they are regulars for the new salon. He got acrylic all over my skin around my nails and just left it. I paid $75 plus tip for a full set with chrome finish. When i got home to look at my nails, there is a gap between the fake nail and my nails. Literally every nail was not glued on properly. I was going to go back to see if they would rectify my badly done nails, but I dont think I would go back anyways. Im so sad! Unique Nails was my favorite, i believe Dan was my regular. And now its different, and after the rushed set with acrylic all over my skin, I am saddened. I will not be returning, and I recommend anyone that goes to double check they glued the nail on properly. Make sure they do quality work so you dont end up like me. Im sure I will have to get my nails redone very soon. It took me so long to find a regular spot, now Im back to square one I am not sure if the nail tech was new or not, but I feel like I totally got ripped off.

While she was cutting the cuticle from my right, big toenail, she got careless and cut a part of the nail that shouldn't have been cut, on the outside edge. It hurt, considerably, and I jerked my foot away. Her response was that my feet are too sensitive! What a joke! You cut my toenail and the pain is so bad that I jerked my foot away, and it's sensitive?! I'm concerned that the tools they use aren't cleaned properly either. I thought that was the end of it until the next day when it began swelling and hurting even more. I'm tending to the wound with antibiotic cream, and will go to my doctor if it doesn't clear up in the next couple of days. This morning I went into the gallery to get my money back, which was the least they could do. After arguing with the manager, who said "we don't do that", and insisting I wasn't leaving until it was resolved, he gave me my $40, which by the way is ridiculously expensive for a basic no frills pedicure. The technical didn't even apply lotion to my feet, as listed in the description. Before I left, the guy I spoke with actually tried to blame the injury on me, telling me not to come back with a sore toe. My toe was perfectly fine until I made the mistake of trusting them. Needless to say, I'll never return to this place.
