I used to come here a lot for lunch take-out, because the food is delicious. However, sadly, I've stopped going, because they've raised their prices while also reducing portion sizes. They no longer have lunch prices, it's only dinner sizes all the time. And the few times I have ordered it for lunch anyway (but paid dinner prices), the portions were even smaller than they used to be! I thought I just happened to get a chef who was a bit stingy the first time it happened, but then it turned out to consistently be smaller sizes, each time I ordered. It makes no sense, as you're basically getting less food for more money. So sadly, I no longer go. I hope this changes, because the food is very good. read more

Their Tom Kha Gai (coconut/lime/galangal soup with chicken) is tangy and satisfying. The Drunken Noodles are delish. The salad with grilled chicken is large and it's hard to remember that if you order the salad, you will have to split it if you expect to have room for a main dish. I find the Satay Chicken appetizer to be a little dry, but the golden triangles are pretty righteous in their texture and flavor. For an entree, I usually eat the Rama Longsong (veggies in peanut sauce), because it is my favorite. The green curry is very, very good. The restaurant is very, very small. If you've got more than two people in your party, it'll be cramped. Like most restaurants in Wellesley, it also closes a lot earlier than you'd expect (9PM). My sister goes to Babson College nearby so she recommended this place for lunch. It's rather small so I wouldn't bring large groups here. I ordered the drunken noodles with pork. The portion was large so you definitely get more bang for your buck. I have ordered from here in the past and for a while it was good. The last time I ordered it wasn't great and last night I tried to buy for 10 people. I had an order placed and ready to go in my cart, and it wasn't working ordering from my phone. Thai food very adjusted to the American palette. As an asian that frequently travels other asian countries, the dishes served are not as flavorful, and have more asian American dishes than traditional Thai ones. My favorite dish here is the Pad See Ew and the Indonesian style fried rice because of the good crispy chicken. For someone in the Wellesley area, it is pretty cheap and decent comfort food. This is a tiny little Thai Restaurant in Wellesley. It's located right accross the street from Brighams and right near the on ramp for Rt.9. This restaurant is tiny but very clean, has lots of windows with little bistro tables that are crammed in to sit at. Their bathroom is very clean as well. They have decorated their small space nicely, with a pretty paint color, and some thai looking pictures, and plants. For such a small restaurant with not much atmosphere they have extremely good food. Some of my favorites are their Pad Thai, their Thai Iced coffee, and their seafood dish with soft shelled crab! That's the best! Parking can be tough, but worth it! When you go, make sure you get a window seat so you can people watch all the people testing out new sneakers from the store next to the restaurant! read more

This little joint is a bit crowded, perhaps only 12 seats total, definitely more for take-out. The pricing is reasonable and the menu, you choose a type of curry from several dozen choices and they have about eight different palette options to put it on. The curries are all fine, but not particularly spectacular except perhaps the Massaman and Green curries. The Massaman has a lot of kick while still letting the flavors stay with the base foods while the green has its savory bent and its mixture of bamboo shoots, carrots, Thai eggplant, and other veggies complement it well. The Kai Sub Kraplao (in some restaurants called Prik Ka Prow) I've had for years is great. It's ground chicken with diced onions, bell peppers, hot peppers, and Thai basil stir-fried with spicy oil and a bit of fish sauce. It isn't fishy at all, has a light aftertaste kick, and you can taste everything fully cooked. The todman seems to have skimped last time I was there. It was thin, like a scallopinne rather than a thick 'puck', resulting in it being more rubbery. I'd skip it. The satay is fine, but not spectacular. The sauce does much more than the marinade and seems to drown it. The cold spring rolls are alright as well. Overall, it isn't bad for a quick takeout, the dishes in the $7-10 range with a bit more for some specials. For price - quality, it's just fine, it's just that it isn't particularly spectacular with dishes, like it tries not to fail rather than to succeed. It's alright, but I'd rather pay the extra $2 a dish for Amarin unless I'm craving the Kai Sub Kraplao or have an unusual craving for a duck curry. The table service is quick and all dishes are fully to order, so it does take a bit of a wait if eating in. It's slightly less accessible due to the construction of the bridge by the Wellesley Hills Branch Library. I found Coconut Cafe in Newton Centre to be... just okay. Definitely better options around. We ordered a few basic items to try for our first visit: pad thai, drunken noodles, sweet basil stir-fry, and some brown rice. First off, when it came to the meats in our dishes, they were all seriously lacking in quantity. It was if chicken was a rare delicacy. The pad thai was incredibly flavorless although a touch too sweet and also lacked a citrus acid one would expect ever so slightly. The drunken noodles were very dry but did taste good. The basil stir-fry just did not taste good at all. And instead of brown rice we got white. Not a great start. The take-out food didn't have but 5 minutes from their door to ours, so time was not a factor in the overall food states. I might try them again, when I'm really craving Thai and I'm in the neighborhood and too lazy to drive 5 minutes to better Thai restaurants. Maybe. Just maybe. read more

I'd go 4 and 1/2 stars if it was an option, because this is almost as good as it gets. They fall short of Woohoo because of consistency issues (both between menu items and between chefs/cooks) and the atmosphere (we've been doing takeout recently). Lets start with the Woohoo. Their panang curry is exceptional and they pegged both of the fat noodle dishes (both dry and wet) we've tried. The soup was also very good - both in quality and quantity. Now the less than Woohoo. Even though others recommend the green curry, we found it lacking the one time we tried it - but we wonder, based on other yelp reviewers who liked the green curry - if they had the 'B' team in the kitchen. The fried rice was fine but nothing to write home (or yelp) about (sometimes Thai fried rice, believe it or not, can be exceptional). Finally, lets talk money. Great value. Particularly lunch. I am a GIANT fan of Thai food, and there for a little critical. I've gone to Lemon Thai in Wellesley, and the atmosphere was nicer/ sweeter (pink walls and little flowers and butterfly decorations), but the food was..eh. I switched and decided to try Coconut Thai Cafe, and the food was SO much better! Fresh tofu, more flavor, warmer. The atmosphere is obviously a primary 'take-out' place. Out of the thai restaurants in the Wellesley area, this is favorite in terms of food. Portions are generous and the food is flavorful.I enjoy that the Pad Thai actually has more than 5 pieces of chicken (I'm looking at you Amarin!) and veggies/tofu too. The reason I'm not too crazy about this place is that it's tiny. There's only one person working the front of the house, so service can suck if things get busy. The manager cum server is an absolute racist. We're a brown family of three and she was literally shouting at us from the minute we walked in. She even told us that our two year old didn't need a high chair and was big enough to sit on a regular chair. We were the only ones then so I thought this was her general attitude but when two white folks walked in, she was so pleasant to them. She greeted them with a smile, took their order first although we had arrived a good 5 minutes before them. When I called out to her to take our order, she continued to be rude at which point, I told her, "Can you be any more rude to us?" She walked away without a response. I remarked to my husband loudly (it is a tiny restaurant) that I thought she was definitely racist. She then served us our food and didn't say much then. When it was time to pay, I went up to her to pay. She was talking to white lady, smiling and laughing. I had decided that if she gave me any shit I would rip her apart (figuratively of course). However, she changed her attitude (my husband thinks it was because it was time for me to tip her) and spoke in a nice manner. Needless to say, she got no tip. read more

I used to like their food but I won't be going there anymore. The manager/server was very rude. We were a group of 8 and asked for a table. This woman told there will be a wait of 10-15 min which we understand because it is a small place. We said we can split into two groups and sit separately. She said we can't do that. I thought she didn't understand what we were asking. So I asked her again very politely. In response she said, you cant pressure my other customers by standing here, you people always do that. Now I don't know if she meant "brown" people or something else. But I've been reading other reviews where people have wrote that she being rude to 'brown skinned' people. Ordered from here for the first time yesterday. Got the Green Curry dish with noodles instead of rice. Also, since I like to be difficult, asked for it without the peppers and with all the other veggies instead. I didn't get tofu or meat so I can't speak to what that is like here.
