Food is so authentic and tastes so good compared to other Thai places around. Thai Ice tea is not too sweet too. Owner is always friendly and provide quick services. The location is hard to find. Ordered takeout from here over the weekend and was pretty impressed by 2/3 dishes. For 3 people, we ordered the chicken pad see ew, gai ka pow, and beef massaman curry. The price ended up being about $55 which wasn't bad especially since we got 2 meals out it! As for the dishes: Pad see ew - this was the only of the dishes that I wasn't a huge fan of, and I usually order this dish at every thai restaurant. The flavor was more salty than other places, and I wish there was a bit more noodles in it - there was surprisingly a LOT of chicken and broccoli. So much in fact that most bites ended up being meat rather than noodles which is normally a good thing but I really love the noodles so I wish there was a bit more! Gai ka pow - this is the other staple dish I get and this one was amazing. It came with 2 eggs surprisingly and was perfectly balanced with spice, sweetness, and saltiness. A little of this goes a long way with the rice and it was one of the big reasons we were able to get 2 full meals from this order. Delicious - would definitely order again! Beef massaman curry - I don't' normally get this dish but it was also so delicious - the curry was creamy and coconutty and the beef was so soft and tender. The meat was cut into cubes and rectangles so it looked a little odd, but for some reason this cut really worked and the meat was just fall apart tender. The potatoes in this dish were also so good - they soaked up the flavor really well. I'd order this again too! read more

This is my second ordering take out. Given that it's 30 minutes away from home, that says a lot. Both visits included a warm welcome and an offer of cold water while we waited. My picky son ordered the beef soup (which he had before) and chicken with vegetables. I had to order the Pad Thai with chicken again because it was so good. The restaurant is clean and bright with books on the tables if you're interested in reading while you wait. Be prepared to read only a few pages though because the food comes out quickly. The restaurant is not easy to find. It's behind Kugel's. However once you get there, you'll definitely want to find your way back! read more

Amazing! I have been trying a few Thai places in the area and this has been one of the best!! We ordered delivery and got two Thai Iced Teas, a Red Curry with Chicken, and a Pad Woonsen with Chicken - all phenomenal! To start - The Thai Iced Teas were excellent and a good size. I love mixing the tea and milk parts together, it's so satisfying. They were not skimpy (with anything) and it was packed with flavor!! Now, the meals - they were both excellent. We got chicken with both and they use real legit chicken, grilled up and then sliced and diced. I don't doubt all chicken that looks more like shavings, but wow, they loaded the dishes with their chicken and it was moist and delicious and it made a huge difference. The Red Curry had great flavor and you could tell that it was so fresh, made with really good quality ingredients. There was plenty of flavor and enough heat but not too much to where it was overwhelming. Good mix of veggies and a good ratio of chicken to veggie to sauce. Now, the Pad Woonsen. I thinks it really important to remember that cooking is a form of art; recipes are guides not concrete. When it comes to Thai food especially, I find that there can be a lot of variety from one region/area to another and from one restaurant in the same area to another. People tend stick to the "basics" but can add their own flare and takes on the recipes. So, I say this because the Pad Woonsen here was different from the one I know and love from my regular place at home... but it does not mean that one is "wrong" or "right" or necessarily even that one is better than the other... you can ultimately prefer one over the other but that doesn't mean it's bad or wrong. Pad Woonsen is an interesting dish that I don't think I have ever had the same from one place to another, so it can sometimes be risky. A South East Kitchen seems to be newer with limited photos but still great reviews, so I was not sure what I was going to get but wanted to give it a try. While different from my regular, it was still very good. Like the red curry, it had a great ratio of chicken to veggies to noodles and the ingredients used were top notch. I absolutely love the glass noodles and everywhere that I have gotten Pad Woonsen, the constant has always been that it is a fresh and light dish - while jam packed, you don't feel like you just ate a heavy "pasta" dish. I do think the Pad Woonsen needed a dash more of the "sauce" - I am hesitant to say flavor as it still had great flavor there but it just needed a little scootch extra if that makes sense. However, with that said it still was excellent. As mentioned, I think A South East Kitchen is new and I hope they are super successful and here to stay as this will now be my go to for Thai when in the area!!! I also do want to take note of the containers they use for takeout - as you can see in pics, they use what I assume is an environmentally friendly cardboard like material. I had concerns as to the strength and longevity (think about a paper straw and how quickly it gets soggy and breaks down) but these held well overnight with the leftovers. The meals were still warm upon arrival and the restaurant got our order completed quickly. Since I got delivery, I cannot speak to the restaurant itself but it looks like a neat place. All in all A South East Kitchen is a top notch Thai restaurant with superior and fresh ingredients, great quality, excellent flavor, generously sized portions, and competitive pricing. I highly recommend and will be trying some of my other favorites in my next visits. read more

A thai restaurant that stands out amongst a lot of thai in the area. Generous portions and high food quality to justify the slightly above average prices. The restaurant is not quite full service. You wont be waited on per se but food will be brought out to you sort of like a food hall. I first noticed the food containers. It reminded me of Laughing Monk in Wellesley but the containers are probably twice the size and packed full of food. The chicken satay was super tender, juicy, and flavorful on its own, even better when dipped. Pad thai was ordered with shrimp but came with chicken. The chicken was great but would have been nice to try the shrimp. Not too sweet, seasoned just right for me. Noodles great texture. Massaman curry surprisingly didnt have peanuts but came with very tender beef, as well as what seems to be par fried potato chunks. I've never had a massaman curry with potato prepared this way but I loved it. Came with a cup of rice which was cooked well. Overall this is my new favorite for Thai, the previous being Laughing Monk. They have a lot of other options I want to try one day but for the staples I usually order, I'd definitely get them again. Great signs for a new place. It is located where Kalasha chicken used to be. There is less seating than before but has been refreshed with some new wall decor and is well lit. Plenty of parking but a little hard to find. Worth looking for. Very nice staff too. Try it out! read more

A South East Kitchen is an amazing place tucked in the backside of a plaza off route 9. We tried their chicken satay, drunken noodles and gai ka pow. The chicken satay came with a delicious peanut sauce and the chicken was super tender despite being white meat. The drunken noodles had the perfect amount of chicken and vegetables that made it a complete dish if you wanted to just get one item. The veggies were also very fresh and not overly cooked so you still got a good crunch. The gai ka pow was super flavorful and came with a very healthy serving of rice. The service was friendly and you can tell they are dedicated to their craft. You can order using the QR code on the menu or with any of their team. Overall I would highly recommend! read more

We read of this restaurant online (great reviews) as we were driving west on Rte 9 in Framingham. It is behind a plaza, so is difficult to see from the main road but we're so glad we ventured in. We have eaten in many Thai restaurants, but the food here definitely stood out. The soup was so fragrant, with perfectly cooked meat, and the eggplant dish we ordered was also delicious. We enjoyed perusing the Asian cookbooks on the tables. The owner was very friendly and told us that he and his parents opened the restaurant a few months ago. We will be back! read more

The food is amazing , perfectly fresh and perfectly cooked! The satay chicken is actually moist and the peanut sauce sublime. The shrimp in the basil rice dish just pops when you bite it, it could not be more sublime. Vegetables are fresh and tender or tender-crisp, depending on the dish. Order through the app on the QR code on the table, it goes through immediately. Browse a Thai cookbook from a selection on your table while you wait for your food. No frills restaurant where the focus is on perfectly cooked fresh food! A must try. I will be making this a regular spot. read more

It's is beyond rare for me to rate an eatery this high, but here's the story... First of all, it's located in one of the dozens of smallish strip malls that line up along Rte 9 in Framingham. However, the restaurant is actually not in the front but around the corner of the building to the side. It's far too easy to miss, and I almost did. Look for it. It's worth the effort. The place looks newish and the owners told me they just opened up a few months ago. The menu is also a bit smaller than other Thai food establishments. When I was talking with the owner, I mentioned that I missed seeing one of my favorite Thai soups, and he told me to just let them know next time and they'd make it for me. Who knew!!! I ordered chicken satay with peanut sauce as an appetizer along with fresh rolls with shrimp also with peanut dipping sauce , and Pad Thai along with a Thai iced tea. The chicken was not dry and the peanut sauce was phenomenal. It elevated both appetizers. When I asked, I was told that indeed they make it in house. It's so good that I regretted not asking for a side for purchase to take home. Wow! The Pad Thai was also very good and the portions were very large so almost all of it along with 2/3 of the fresh rolls came home with me for tomorrow's lunch and dinner. Here's where things got interesting...in a good way. As I talked with the owner, I confessed that while I love to cook, I have yet to make a Pad Thai that I thought was good, blaming my feeble attempt at getting the tamarind correct. He told me they make it by using fresh tamarind, turning it into paste and then creating the sauce, adding a smidgeon of vinegar to stabilize it. I doubt most places make it from scratch anymore, but they do. Anyhow, the owner disappeared and came back a few minutes later with a quart container of their kitchen created tamarind sauce for me to take home , with a promise that I'd let him now how my next attempt comes out. I'll say it again...wow. I live 90 minutes away, and while I won't be a regular here, I am delighted to know that the place exists. I occasionally need to bring travelers to Logan AirPort Express in Framingham, and this place is 10 minutes away. I'll stop every time I have chance. This sweet new restaurant had delicious Thai food. We had Gra Pow, Massaman curry, and shrimp with eggplant. All made with the requested level of heat. Service is prompt and the staff is warm and welcoming. Our waiter asked and answered several questions. Currently, dine in service is in to go containers (eco-friendly) and the place is VERY casual. Probably the best Thai meal we have ever had. Chicken Satay with peanut sauce was excellent. Chicken really tender and the sauce was amazing. Went out of our comfort zone and ordered the Pad Woonsen. A great choice but did need something extra - the peanut sauce from the Chicken Satay did the trick. Vegetables were fresh and crisp. Shrimp was amazing. We were talking about Tom Yum Soup which my husband has tried in many restaurants. Only the one in Webster, MA came close to being great. The owner came out with his own version as a sample to try. Passed my husband's taste test with flying colors. Owner will probably add it to the menu in the fall/winter. So many more dishes we want to try. read more

My go to Asian cuisine when I'm in the Framingham area. I got to meet the owner and chefs and they were all so nice. Food was so fresh and flavorful. The Thai Eggplant stir fry and Pad Thai were my favorite. Very tasty and good portions. I love that the menu was simple and easy for self-serving. It was a pretty big restaurant. This place is really wonderful. Our food was just great, and the woman behind the counter is so nice and friendly. The experience filled us with the hope that it succeeds. Yesterday evening my wife and I were thinking in the car about dinner and, having seen the sign for this place in Trolley Square, drove around back to see if it was open yet. We were happily surprised by the "Open" sign. The dining room was totally empty, though pleasant, with Thai cookbooks on the tables--interesting touch--and shelves with Thai ingredients for retail purchase. Still we decided to get takeout instead of sitting alone there (never liked the room much when it was Kalasha, and before, though this seemed nicer). No printed menus, just a QR code, and their offerings are pretty standard Thai items: curries, noodles, etc. The woman taking our order, again, was so nice and accommodating. And it was pleasant to sit there hearing our food being prepared back in the kitchen. We were beyond delighted when we got the food home. The panang curry with duck was the standout, just spectacular: beautiful to look at with bright pepper rings and perfectly cooked vegetables, and the right level of heat . And the duck portion was so generous, we both were astounded. I hate to say this because maybe I got extra somehow on this occasion--but I don't think I've ever had a dish so full of delicious duck from a restaurant (seriously). My wife's pineapple fried rice was good, a bit less flavorful than the panang, so she spooned some of my sauce into it. And the fried shrimp appetizer was also good. But man, that panang. Again, we really hope this place succeeds, for their own sake and selfishly, because we want it to be there for our Thai option forever. It is excitingly good. Highly Recommend! Asek (the owner) was very personable and welcoming. We started with Thai Iced Tea (which was yummy) and got amazingly tender Chicken Satay with thick and creamy peanut sauce. For the mains we got Panang Curry with Chicken and Pad Thai with Chicken/Shrimp. Everything was so fresh. Truly the best Thai food I have ever tasted. Asek Sritrai, the owner of A South East Kitchen is reason enough to come to this newly opened restaurant. He is a warm, welcoming, informative kind man who spent a lot of time with us while we had an early dinner celebrating my birthday. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, from the Pad Thai to the Eggplant with chopped chicken to the Massaman Curry, a dish my husband usually won't order. He was transformed into a real fan of the dish. It had a little spicy flavor in addition to the chunks of chicken, potato and onion. The sauce is superb. We ate quite well and still were able to take home so much that we had a full dinner tonight. We don't live in the neighborhood, but will clearly return. The challenge will be not to repeat everything we've already enjoyed and try some new dishes. I encourage you to take-out or sit-in. It's informal seating, but there are plenty of tables and comfortable chairs. read more
