We shared an order of bang, bang shrimp and conch fritters that were perfect. My entree was a crab corn chowder and side Caesar salad. My chowder was exceptional, and the salad was just so so. The chicken entrées had a minuscule piece of chicken and the portions of fries were skimpy. The appetizers were a highlight. The vibes are good, it's also family friendly, and most important, the food is just awesome! Okay. I really debated giving this a 1 or 2-star rating. But deep down inside I didn't want to let two low lights damage the reputation of this solid restaurant. But the end of my experience was less than stellar. Let's start things off with the positives. My server, the dude from Vegas was legit. He made great recommendations and his server was awesome. Rum Drinks and Margaritas were the order of the day, and the cocktails were really well made. The Corn and Crawfish Chowder is rich and hearty but fantastic. Highly recommend the Coconut Shrimp. The Poke Nachos were very good, and the Turkey Avocado Wrap was another, more simple, winner, paired with excellent Fries. Coconuts on the Beach is the perfect place to dine after a day on the water, hence the name. There are plenty of places to sit inside and outside. For a starter, we had the chips with salsa and guac. We came here to eat before the shark dropped for new years. The wait was over 30 minutes which wasn't too bad for new years eve. We were sat outside unfortunately with only one heater working and it was in the 40's that night. We were freezing our butts off badly and we had kids with us too and didn't realize we would be stuck outside. That was the worst part of the night. The food and service was good though. I don't say this lightly... but I have never--NEVER--had better service in my life. He might be in our Christmas card photo this year. We sat outside because duh, it's called Coconuts on the Beach. The view? Gorgeous. The breeze? Like Mother Nature herself was fanning us. The vibe? Perfection. Now. The food. Ohhhh the food. We kicked things off with the chef's appetizer special: steamed mussels in what I can only describe as the sauce of dreams. Garlicky, buttery, a little kick, and absolutely not rationed. There was enough sauce to baptize a baguette--if only we'd had one. Honestly, I almost asked for a straw. My husband got the chef's red snapper special with jalapeño aioli and avocado sauce, and let me tell you--I watched this man eat fish skin. And not just "eat" it. Relish it. The skin was that crispy and beautiful. We might be new people now. Our daughter, on her ongoing mission to eat coconut shrimp at every seafood restaurant in Florida, declared this the top contender. The dipping sauce? Not from a jar, bottle, or interdimensional portal. Made fresh by someone who clearly knows the way to a crustacean-lover's heart. Our son got the kid's fried shrimp and was living his best life with giant, golden, perfectly crisp shrimp. He didn't speak for five minutes. That's how you know. And me? I got the poke nachos but made it a bowl over rice because I'm a genius. It was light, fresh, crunchy, savory--basically the beach in food form. We finished with the cream pie and I am still thinking about it. Silky. Smooth. Rich. Decadent. Like a velvet dream with a graham cracker crust. If love were a dessert, this would be it. Arrived around 2pm on a Monday and was warmly greeted and seated on the deck overlooking the beach. I definitely enjoyed the views of the beach and the sounds of the ocean. I ordered the Salmon salad, requested the salmon cooked rare. The restaurant has a great vibe, everyone is very friendly. My salad arrived after a short time. A wonderful bed of greens, pecans, mandarins, Gorgonzola cheese crumbs, red onion and a vibrant flavored vinaigrette. Most importantly the salmon was cooked per my request of rare. Delicious! Now for my review, the beach front deck dining is gorgeous. The mural all over the building is well done and makes for a lovely view no matter what direction you end up facing. The waitstaff was excellent and honest. They were on their game and worked hard for their tips. The food though, oh my god the food. We had the Grouper sandwich which had a massive piece of perfectly fried grouper on a toasted roll topped with gorgeous pickles and we had the Blackened Mahi Reuben with a side of the mango pineapple slaw. The food was so phenomenal I may actually say that the Reuben was one of my top ten savory bites I have ever had. Don't skip out on the thick, crispy, seasoned fries either. The fried conch fritters (6) were okay, a lot of filling with a bit of conch which tasted kinda of like a harder scallop. The coconut crusted shrimp (6)was the second best with a very sweet sauce. The fish dip was okay, not a strong seafood flavor with a bunch of sides like butterfly crackers, jalapeños, and celery. I wouldn't get this or the conch fritters again tbh. Pleasantly surprised how wonderful of a dinner we had here even as a party of ten. I was weary after a hot day on the beach but the ocean breeze on the shaded patio was quite nice and cool. I had the fish and chips and it was top notch, fresh, flakey, with a simple and excellent taste. The fries were well done and the tartar sauce just right. The coleslaw was a tiny paper cup full, sweet and different, I had hoped for a little more. Service was great for dinner rush. It is typical bar food. The real stars of this place are from the location right on Cocoa Beach, the drinks, and the fun laid-back party vibe. It's impossible not to relax and have a good time at Coconuts. I had a piña colada, which was so creamy and delicious. My husband had a few cold draft beers.
