A business that sells food in a structure that used to be something completely different is right up and into our alley so it was literally the first thing we did upon stepping foot within the town boundary. We were seated immediately on a Friday at around 1pm. I love their vegetarian options but this is a place that assumes if you are a vegetarian, that you like and must have onions and mushrooms in every meal. I couldn't find much other than pancakes/pastries/sweet shit that didn't have onions and mushrooms but fortunately, they were able to accommodate my request for the tofu scramble without onions or mushrooms. GF ordered the vegetarian quesadilla with, you guessed it, onions and mushrooms (among other things). My tofu scramble was good but calling it a scramble is slightly misleading as it is actually tofu cubes albeit very crispy and tasty tofu cubes. This dish was probably potatoes. A few spinach leaves and maybe 1/100th of a pepper. I will concede to the fact that some of that volume might have been taken up by mushrooms and onions. The dish was very good regardless and the accompanying salsa added a really nice extra je ne sais quoi. I also really like the pay first and then leave whenever you want model to avoid being held hostage to bad service not to say that they would've provided bad service but it is a risk anywhere. Regarding GF's quesadilla which I did not have the pleasure of sampling bc of onions of mushrooms "I thought it was decent". I feel like you should definitely go in to get the full experience, and the building itself it absolutely beautiful. I thought the layout was cute but the parking situation is absolutely terrible in my opinion, but that's what you gamble when eating downtown. I thought the food and the service were just okay, nothing to go on and on about. I think this was a once and done situation for us but that's okay. My husband and I went hiking with our dogs at New River Gorge National Park last month and I hadn't gotten around to posting my reviews yet. We stopped in at Cathedral Cafe our first morning there before hitting the trails because they are pet friendly on the small deck area/outside where the picnic tables and table sets are. We ordered a blueberry muffin and some sausage for the dogs to split (they were on vacation too!), my husband ordered the breakfast bagel, and I ordered an omelet with toast and potatoes. Nothing was seasoned and we had to go back and ask for butter for the toast because nothing came out with it and it was nothing was offered when it was dropped off. Both of our main breakfast options were pretty bland and overall very expensive for what we received. We ordered a cinnamon roll to split between us and that was good. We sat out where the picnic tables and table sets were to give the dogs more room to lay down/to be away from the front entrance with people going in and out. We found out you cannot take alcohol out past the deck, so we could not have mimosas. Just something to keep in mind if you are visiting from out of town. That area also houses the ice storage, so while we were eating a man kept coming back and forth with a huge ice delivery, which riled up the dogs because it was so loud and right next to where we were sitting. It is a really cute spot and since we were visiting an area near a national park, there are only a handful of options in the small town, so I'm still glad we visited. I just think it is a better spot to sit inside and enjoy the stained glass windows, have access to condiments, etc than to eat outside with dogs. read more

One of the better breakfast spots I've gotten while traveling in a few years. I ordered the 5.10 special with sunny side eggs, bacon and potatoes. It's an evenly balanced platter which is great for a meal, or a starter for the more experienced eaters. I followed that with the blue berry pancakes. They were delicious and had options for chocolate chips as well. The coffee is 6.5-7/10 here. Next time I'll ask them to make it stronger. There are plenty of condiments to choose from, jelly, hot sauces and seasonings. Would highly recommend this beautiful church turned restaurant if you stop in fayetteville! read more

This place was hyped up by a few locals, so maybe I went in with high expectations, but I wasn't impressed. The vibe is cool and it's nice they renovated an old church and kept the character of the place, but that's where the positives end. Service is awkward as you order in line, still have to go get your own drinks and then they ask for an 18-25% tip when you talk to a human for maybe 30 seconds. Prices are high. For $3.99 for a side of potatoes, I was expecting a lot larger portion. The turkey stack breakfast sandwich was just mediocre and lacked flavor. What a beautiful spot! Located in downtown Fayetteville, we parked out front and were quickly greeted by the person behind the bar. She told us to sit anywhere, grab a menu, and order at the purple table. We perused the menu and I decided on the ultimate grilled cheese panini and added ham. It came with a dill pickle spear and chips. The panini was huge! Should have shared! The bread was so good though! My husband had to try the animal cracker cheesecake and I had a small bite. Came in for breakfast about an hour past open on Sunday and the place was busy! We had a 20 min wait for our table, but it ended up only being around 10 mins total. We sat, got up and ordered, and came back to the table. The coffee drinks were out in under 5 mins and the food was out in about 10. All 3 of us had bagel sandwiches. I had the smoked salmon on an everything bagel without onions and it was perfect. there wasn't too much cream cheese, there was plenty of salmon, and the bagel was toasted lightly. I ordered a dirty chai and it was topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon. It wasn't sweet at all, but was smooth and creamy. They have two bathrooms tucked in the back corner that are unisex. The one I went in was small, but clean. They have most tables inside, but a few outside seating options, as well. It was getting way more crowded as we left. I knew I wanted to eat here during our visit, but I didn't anticipate to come here every day! We had multiple breakfasts here and ordered lunch to go one day. I love the staff and the vibes are just very laid back. On a typical day you grab a menu, seat yourself, then order at the counter (busier days you have to wait to be seated). I got a different latte every day, tried hot and iced. The hot comes out very hot so I'd typically take the rest to go. I love love love that you get a different cup every time it's just kinda whatever they have, it just fits. We enjoyed all our food! The sandwiches we ordered with the garlic aioli were sooo good. My favorite breakfast item was the egg, spinach, bacon bagel! They have a cute small gift shop upstairs. Parking is limited but we didn't have a problem most days. The largest and most active business in this town (which surprisingly was not that crowded otherwise given the proximity to such splendid outdoor experiences), this cafe offers the ambiance of a small church and an eclectic brunch menu. I found a tofu scramble. The options for vegetarian, not overly sweet, and at least some protein are not abundant in this part of the country, so this was a win for me. The chili powder flavored stir-fry was actually better without the salsa on the side than with. There were also potatoes and spinach; cooked spinach is never as good as fresh, but it's something. Some white bread on the side helped mop things up. Cute place in an old church. Cool, fun, friendly employees. Food was good, except they forgot the bacon on my turkey bacon sandwich but they brought out four hearty pieces when I pointed it out. I really came here to talk about the carrot cake, which I got to-go on my way out. I watched the kid take the cake out of the refrigerated case, cut off a (small) piece, plop it in the to-go container and then walk away from me. He walked over to the bar where a lady (much to my horror) squeezed and squirted something all over the carrot cake. Then he closed the container, walked back and presented it to me. Service was not good you have to get up to get your coffee refill and any condiments you might want. When you pay upfront, they would like you to tip 18,20 or 22% even before you set down. With service like this I would ask for the tip upfront too. I left still hungry. My total $17.97 with a 20 % tip. Needless to say, I won't be returning. I love this place. The people watching is always one of my favorite activities along with the variety of hot sauces. The staff are so fun and friendly and clearly work so hard.
