I went to the facility this morning to see my baby. She had been carefully arranged with her little paws folded on her chest, and her eyes were nearly closed. She looked as if she were fast asleep. Her private service was that - absolutely private. I got her paw print this morning; I picked up her ashes five hours later. I hope I don't need to use Emerson's services for another decade or more. While this is still a good vet clinic, I no longer take my dog here. One of the vet techs at ACC…read morewas rough with my dog and made him yelp, when I protested she said he was just a whiner. Another time, my husband accidentally threw away all the vet records. When I requested a replacement, I showed up and the staff wanted to charge me $10 for the records (which were not even complete because they didn't contain old blood tests, luckily I had scans of those on my computer). I ended up getting the records for free, but that was odd. Especially since I was not told of the fee in advance. Also, my dog was gaining weight despite exercise and limited diet. In February I asked ACC about it and they said I was overfeeding him, even though I said I wasn't. I asked for a blood test and they did one, but didn't test for thyroid levels. In June, puppy had a small focal seizure (which I was quick enough to take a video of with my camera). I called and the office staff said it was no big deal, they were too busy to see him for a week, and don't bother to bring him in. But I knew something was wrong. So I called Animal Medical of Wolfforth (they had impressed me when the vet treated my friend's dog for an emergency after hours, a service ACC does not offer). The vet there was out of state for an auction, but the vet techs actually sent her my video, even though I had never brought my dog in before to them. She diagnosed his focal seizure and suggested a thyroid test. Turns out my dog has hypothyroidism. After starting him on pills, he's much better and now has perfect thyroid levels. Puppy lost weight, is more active and happy, and has had no more seizures. I feel like this could have been diagnosed earlier if ACC had listened to me. I feel like the front desk staff and the vets at ACC are nice. They also have some of the best equipment of any vet in Lubbock. But I also decided that they were too busy for me and didn't catch my dog's problems like they should have, which is why I now use Animal Medical of Wolfforth. I'm giving ACC 4 stars because they are still a good choice and convenient for Lubbock people.

In the past I have been shamed to the point of tears by a vet*, so I was nervous about my first visit to the clinic with my cat of three years, nervous up until the point I met the vets Dr. Priya A. Dahanukar and Dr. Emily N. Shockey. They were calm and comfortable around cats. The whole experience was great. When I went up front to pay, they gave me a first time customer discount and some free advantage (they also did this when I brought in a new cat several years later . . . I guess the cats are the real customers ;-). I also met Dr. Key once before I had to move and in that brief visit he gave me a number of a person to interview for an article I was interested in writing! Over the five and a half years I went to Key Animal Clinic I never had a bad experience and I never had to wait that long to get in, which is nice, considering the mixed (cat and dog) waiting room. If I were a millionaire I would hire these vets as my personal on call cat healers, since I'm not a millionaire I'll settle for writing them a stellar review. I was appalled that no one took the time to clean them after the procedure, and I ended up spending hours cleaning my pet. To make matters worse, the vet complained about my pet directly to me, which I found highly unprofessional and unethical. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this clinic. Side note: I do believe they have a preference for dogs and do not treat cats with the same care. Cat owners, steer clear!!!

I've brought my dog here a few times and haven't had any trouble till this last visit. My dog is 13…read moreyears old and a collie, so his joints and legs aren't the strongest. I'm sure the groomer has had trouble grooming him because of his age, which is understandable. However, the last time I brought him, I thought everything was normal and it wasn't. I got the call, like usual, that he was ready to go. So, I drive up there, walk in and see him sitting there. Everything seemed normal, the groomer ran my card and I go to get my dog but he won't get up. She then finally says, "he's been like that since his bath". Now I don't blame them or think that they purposely hurt him, but what made me mad was that it was never mentioned to me till I tried to get him to walk with me. Why wouldn't they say something over the phone or even while I'm checking out? Makes me feel like they were trying to hide it. One lady ended up helping me carry my dog to the car, and I ran him to the vet. I think they just wanted him out cause I barely saw any concern for him from them. He's better now and it probably was just his old bones he was having trouble with but I feel like they were trying to deceive me by not saying anything. I won't bring him back there again, and I am so disappointed because I did like this place and have referred people to them. Anyhow, I've learned my lesson and will now ask if a groomer has experience with older dogs because this place does not seem to.
