We have used Pampered Paws in the past with our Lab with satisfactory results (Pre-Covid, different staff). This time, when we picked him up it was hard to tell anything had been done. His nails had been trimmed but I noticed he did not smell clean. He had been bathed but I don't think thoroughly. The cashier was just barely polite and did not seem to enjoy her job. I know there are employees there that love the dogs but I did not get one that exhibited it. We decided to take our other dog to Resa's and were very pleased with the result. She smelled great and was clean down to the skin. They know how to interact with the owners and truly love the dogs. PP evidently has more business than it deserves. read more

This is the most incompetent grooming services I have ever dealt with in my life. I called on tuesday to make an appointment for my two very large German Shepherds and was told they would verify vaccine records before our appointment on friday. I even called on thursday to reschedule one of my dogs because I called the vet myself to find out if all there vaccines were up to date and hers were not. At no point and time during that conversation was I told they had not verified either ones vaccines. I show up this morning before the rush of people because my 85 pound, male, german shepherd, who mind you is still a puppy, was going to be a rambunctious mess for the appointment and ended up having to sit in the lobby to wait for his vet to open. I even had my partner text me a picture of the vaccine records he could find but his kennel cough wasn't on the sheet. I will never use this place again and will never recommend this place to a single soul. I was assured they were experienced and could handle a rambunctious dog and was assured they would do everything in there power to make check in go smoothly and this is just a complete lie. There is also no way in hell the groomers know what they are doing either because the person who came to greet Floki came at him fast and was reaching for his head with no introduction. Fucking idiots. German Shepherds are a know breed for being extremely protective and any dog grooming place who claims to be experienced enough to handle them should know this. One star isn't a low enough rating for this place. read more

While my dog was being boarded, he was attacked by another dog (we had paid for a separate room so that things like this wouldn't happen). he was bitten on his neck and had to go to the vet to get staples to fix it. they told us it happened on saturday but didn't tell us or call us until monday. the lady said she new because she had to look back on the video footage which means she didn't know it happened until monday. their first story was that our dog got into another yard then this happened. then they changed their story to another dog got into my dogs room. we asked to see the video footage to see what they saw but they would not let us. they were obviously very neglectful towards our dog which means they were the same towards the rest of them as well. i will never return to this place after this experience. read more

I have taken our dogs there for a nail trim several times but today was horrible . I kept telling the guy at the counter that he was going to have to take them in the back and do them . He didn't believe me so he put a leash on her ( they already had leashes ) and started choking her pulling her to the back . Management didn't care. No wonder they only have three stars . I brought my dog here for a groom and also I bought dog food here. I was not too happy on the groom because my boy seemed really hot afterwards. I think they left him under a hot blow dryer for too long. Plus he really had to pee bad when we left, so I don't think he got a bathroom break when he was there. He also got a UTI shortly afterward, which he gets when he is stressed. He did look nice, but points off for comfort. Other customers' dogs did look happy to be being dropped off there, so might have just been bad luck for my dog. Food: this shop carries a bunch of premium healthy pet foods. At a premium price too! But there are only a few retailers in Lubbock that have these lines. Solid Gold, Nature's Variety (both Prairie and Instinct lines, including frozen raw), Stella & Chewy's (including the frozen), Bravo, and others. I definitely will come back here to buy food, but not to have my dog groomed. I found another place that was less busy and where he seemed happy and comfortable. Also, the parking lot is kind of hard to get into so be careful. read more

My parents always brought our corgi here when I was growing up, so I thought I would do the same now that I have my own border collie. Our corgi always came home sick with pancreatitis and wouldn't eat for several days after being boarded here. Eventually, after my parents had boarded him there over a weekend, he got pancreatitis again and died two weeks later. Flash forward to now with my dog, the same thing is happening again. We've boarded him here twice and both times he has come home sick, mopey, and won't eat for days. Last week I took him to get a bath (which is expensive in itself) and they fed him something that he threw up later. I have no idea what it was, but it did not look like food. My husband called to ask them what they had given him and they wouldn't ever give a direct answer. And that was only after a bath!! Also, their place is very small and I can't imagine there's ample space to board several animals. When you board your dog, it comes home filthy if you don't purchase a bath too. They also ruined my dog's bed. It might be more expensive to board elsewhere, but I will most definitely not be bringing my dog back here. read more

Awful.The lady I dropped my dog off too was very rude & unprofessional and my dog came back to me with several cuts on her body & about a 1/2 inch cut completely through her ear, there was dried blood all over her ear & no one even mentioned it when I picked her up. I have been taking my long hair dog into this groomer for several months. I'd say 3 times in 6 months. They do a great job on his cut. However, the last time I took him in (4/4/19) everything seemed great. Then? Coughing and a lot. Plus it got passed on to my other dog but not as bad. Cost me $100 for the vet to examine him & give meds. He had kennel cough - which he got while at the groomers!! When I called them about it they tried to explain it away as him having caught it while outside at home. This is hogwash as they have a fenced in yard and NEVER come in contact with other dogs. Now, I just don't think I can take the chance & go back to my dogs possibly getting sick by something they picked up while there. Not happy about the whole situation.... read more

They're the best of the best. My kiddos have been going for daycare for a long time and they love it every time. They always come home from boarding happy to see me but clearly exhausted from all the play time. Management is trash and very unprofessional. They definitely do not know how to talk to their employees which is one of the main reasons why they can't keep them. It's a very toxic work environment. One of the employees yelled at me and cussed me out my second day there, and instead of handling it professionally the manager told me that I just needed to bathe dogs faster to not piss her off again. How wack is that? I always got singled out in work group texts for when I would ask for days off and/or trade shifts. I was bullied the whole time I worked there and my dogs were too if they had an accident on the floor. (working with animals, you should be used to that) Both of my dogs are up to date on shots and I brought proof. But as soon as I started bringing my pit bull mix, I was no longer allowed to bring either one of my dogs for no real particular reason as to why. I'm assuming they are also not pit bull friendly. I would not recommend working here or bringing your animals either. It's honestly overpriced even with a discount and they are all pretty horrible people in general. read more

I called to make an appointment for my dog to get a flea bath (typically $35). I went to drop him off and the service he was getting wasn't confirmed. Apparently there had been a miscommunication, and when my dog was picked up the charges came to $92. They told me that he was scheduled for a basic bath with a flea bath, I said that wasn't what I asked for and they basically told me you're s*** out of luck. I used to board my dogs here all the time when I went out of town and they absolutely loved it and the staff was amazing!!! That was 7-9yrs ago. I've always raved about how much we loved Pampered Paws. But this afternoon, I went in and no one was in the front. No big deal, But some big dogs loose in the grooming area saw me and barked. I heard a girl scream at them to shut up. I stood there over 5 minutes without anyone knowing I was in there, just waiting. A little dog barked just a little and she started yelling at it too. I finally left and felt so bad for the dogs. I couldn't see the girl, but listened to her screaming for the dogs to shut up the whole time I waited. read more

Total nightmare. No one stays with the animals overnight, and there was a thunderstorm and our dog apparently freaked out and really hurt himself. Now that part isn't their fault -- they never said anyone stayed overnight, and we didn't let them know he got anxious during storms (we had no idea we needed to!). What IS their fault is that (a) no one apparently noticed how hurt he was until almost 11:00am the next day and (b) he didn't get medical attention until almost 1:00 the next day, even though they are literally next door to a vet's office. The person working there even commented on what a "bloody mess" he and his kennel were. When they showed me the kennel, I could still see blood on the wires and on the floor (not to mention that the kennel area was just two levels of dark wire kennels crammed in on both sides of a narrow walkway). Their best guess is he got his face stuck in the mesh, then clawed his face trying to get out, which he finally accomplished after breaking off / pulling out multiple teeth. My vet had to extract FIVE teeth, with another 2 broken but salvageable. As if all that isn't bad enough, when I went to get him, they wouldn't even let me see him until I paid for the boarding. It was a Saturday, and the owner even called while I was there, and I asked the poor girl working to ask the owner if I could just settle the bill when I came in on Monday to talk to the owner, and the owner said no, I had to pay right then and there - she eventually did refund the money for the boarding, but only after I had to ask! Although his injuries were not their fault, there's simply no excuse for not noticing a dog that badly injured until several hours after staff arrive, nor for delaying medical care once the injuries were noticed. read more

This is the best groomers I have ever used! I have 3 Goldendoodles that I take there. They always do excellent job! Amy and staff are always so kind & treat my doodles like their own. I live on the other side of town, but it's worth the drive every time I take them. I wouldn't go anywhere else!! I tell all my friends to go there and they all love it just as much! Detailed review for grooming on Friday, September 12th. - Grooming and front staff: 5 stars I have a 5 year old maltese-poodle and a 3 year old maltese-bichon. We were greeted by fun and friendly staff right as I walked into the door. One of the staff member even came out of her office to play with my excited dogs as I was talking to the front desk guy checking me in. He made sure to ask me how I wanted their haircuts and took notes as we talked and I showed him pictures. When they took my dogs back, they even asked if it would be alright for my dogs to play with other dogs. My groomer in Houston is set up this way, so I really liked that they allow the same thing here instead of just keeping dogs locked up the whole time. In the end, they both came out white and fluffy. Both my dogs have been professionally groomed since they were puppies, so they are usually pretty easy and come out looking nice everywhere I've taken them for grooming. - Pricing and the groomer that day: 3 stars Before scheduling an appointment, I called in to ask for pricing and we discussed what type of dogs I have. Maltese-poodle and maltese-bichon. I was quoted $36 each for the full grooming package. I called around for prices and was quoted the same price, so I decided to go with Pampered Paws because they are of walking distance. I dropped them off right before 9am, and was told to pick up around 2:30-3:30pm. Around 2:15pm, I received a call asking if it would be alright to push my dogs back to 4:30pm. Sure, no problem, take your time! I figured they were probably just busy since it was Friday. Fast forward to pick up time. This is where it got bad. The cashier told me that apparently, one of my dogs must have been "really bad" because it took a whole extra hour to brush him out. So that would be an extra $25 charge for the brushing. Well that's odd...I just got them professionally bathed, brushed, and blow dried exactly 1 week ago in San Antonio right after a dog park day. Even after getting down and dirty at the dog park, they came out looking nice and pretty with no extra charge or complaints. On top of that, being a protective parent, I usually like to brush my boys out before taking them to the groomers so I can gently untangle any tough knots. But wait, there's more! The cashier also tells me it's $44 for each dog. When I told her I was quoted $36, she checked my records and tried to talk to the groomer. She informed the groomer it was initialed and in the computer that I was quoted $36 each for my dogs. The groomer frustratedly said "NO! They are NOT maltese and they were A LOT of work!" I have never been told my dogs were a lot of work from all the years of professionally grooming my dogs. She honestly made me feel like she just wanted her money and she could care less about what I was told or what I thought about it. Good communication and professionalism are very important to me. I am very disappointed that I was not notified before the sudden price changes or that my dog was "really bad." I would have made the decision to cut his hair down shorter instead of apparently put him through all that extra brushing. So the summary: I was quoted $36 each = $72 total before tax/tips I ended up paying $44 each + $25 brushing fee = $113 before tax That's an extra surprise $44. This is the most I've ever paid for grooming my 16 lb maltese-poodle and 13 lb maltese-bichon. - Would I recommend Pampered Paws? If you do not mind the money issue, then sure. The front staff was great and you will get a clean dog. Personally, I will not be returning because I do not like surprise charges and am turned off by the lack of communication and professionalism I experienced. read more

My cat had to go on a raw diet due to an eosinophilic granuloma condition that no longer responds to steriod injections. Being completely blind as to what to do, I fould a few companies online that produced raw foods for pets called bravo and natures variety. Pampered Paws carried both of these brands, so I paid them a visit to purchase my first bag. The woman (I assume the owner, short, long dark hair, glasses) was SO helpful. She even advised me on adding suppliments to my cats raw diet, and how to easily transition them. read more

We used Pampered Paws to trim our little Pom. We spoke with them several times about his trachea problems and asked them not to put a leash around his neck or anything around his neck. When we picked him up he was having coughing spasms. Took him to the Vet and his trachea had collapsed. He may need surgery or may not survive. I realize they have a job to do and if it is not possible to trim Buddy with a tether around his neck we should have been told. Sad day around here. read more

I used to work here and I do not recommend working or taking your pets here! the work environment is completely unprofessional, the so called manager talks bad about everyone that works there in front of other employees and is very rude! Some of the staff are really nice but there are a couple that are very rude and bully you basically and even though the "manager" knows they are like this, nothing is done! i worked in the back with the daycare dogs and the boarding dogs and me personally would not take my dogs there unless i was there to watch them. the dogs do get to play but if your dog is not friendly or they are a pitbull mix they can't play with others and instead of telling you they can't play they will lie and leave them in a kennel all day and tell you they had fun just to keep you coming and spending your money there. the boarders are the same way they keep them in a kennel pretty much all day unless you pay extra $8 a day to let them play for 3 hours and sometimes they still don't get to play. Another reason I do not recommend working there is because i ended up getting hurt while working there and the boss and owner were mad because i couldn't work and cut my hours because i quote "couldn't do anything" which is illegal and the owner is completely unprofessional called me on the phone and hung up on me 3 times like a child! not to mention they wanted me to do something the HEALTH DEPARTMENT told me not to do so i told them i wasn't going to do it and i got fired! So please don't spend your money at a place that treats their employees and your animals like this! read more

We've have been taking our Cairn Terrier's to Pampered Paws for years!! Amy has always done an Excellent job grooming them. We now have an Australian Terrier that we have groomed there, and Amy does a wonderful job, with not only her but our 15 year old Cairn as well! The staff is professional and helpful. We also buy FROMM dog food there, and many types of treats!! Hightly recommend!! read more

We have been taking our 2 Golden Doodles for about 2 1/2 years now to Pampered Paws and they have been doing an excellent job! One of the dogs (Hudson) has fine long hair and they wash, groom and the dog comes out looking like a show dog. The other dog (Charlie) has course hair and he comes out a handsome dog man. Both dogs know and are ready to go in when we get there. Staff are friendly and always courteous. I like Amy for her professionalism and understanding. Once we had the dogs washed and groomed, took the dogs home and left them. Went out to eat and the lawn sprinklers came on as I had adjusted the time for it come on earlier in the week. Came home and both dogs where mudded up, looked like Black Doodles! Ha, ha!! Called and Amy said bring them back and washed them up to perfection. Now that's service! I took my Goldendoodle there for 2 years. I've never had a dog that needed grooming before, so finding a groomer was new to me. I'll start off by saying they always did a fabulous job on my dog! The staff is pretty nice as well! They have you drop your pet off between 7:30-9am. The website says services are provided by drop off time but that's a lie. If you have a big dog and don't want your dog there all day, don't take them here. My standard Goldendoodle was almost always the LAST dog to be finished, and I promise I wasn't the last one dropping off! The last time I took her there, they kept her until 45 minutes after they closed. It was NINE HOURS!!! At first they said "Oh sorry we are running behind, we were over booked today. However, they get play time they're not stuck in a crate." Then they changed their story to "She was reaaallllyyy matted, that's what took so long." Uh, no she wasn't 9 hours worth of grooming matted and she only had a couple matts that she always gets. That was my final straw. I had become increasingly frustrated that they kept here there all day, and that was the last visit we will have with them! Plus, they're expensive!! Usually $85+ for my doodle. Didn't realize 9 hours and a hundred bucks was outrageous until I asked around. We tried somewhere new, and will definitely never be back. If you have a small dog, I may try them out. They seemed to get them out first. read more

I called Wednesday to make an appointment for my Australian Shepard. They said they would call the vet and call me back if the shots they require weren't up to date. I get a confirmation call Thursday saying they are excited to see him Friday morning. I take him in, and they proceed to tell me he didn't have his kennel cough vaccine, which I wasn't told he needed when I called, so he can't be groomed today. They never called to tell me this information. Because of that I then had to take my dog home I was then late to work and still have a dog that needs to be groomed. All they could tell me was sorry. If they don't have it together enough to call me before my appointment, I'm glad I didn't leave me dog there to be groomed. I'm just thankful I wasn't boarding him there, or I would really be out of luck! I don't recommend going here! read more

After 4 years of trying to make it work I will never take my dogs to this facility and please be aware. The management is terrible and the employees are incredible rude. They increase the pricing every time I came in and this time I had enough and fought back for the pricing I paid previously. I told the manager I would no longer be back and she said "I don't want you back." I am a very respectful and responsible person. I was shocked that she could treat a loyal customer if 4 years like that. Also while I was there a woman commented on the groomer in the back hitting the dog she was grooming and we could all hear her cussing. Terrible staff a d should not be supported by this community. I did not want to write a negative review but after continually experiencing issues, I felt I should. First, I have two small dogs and they usually look great when I pick them up which is why I have taken my dogs there several times now. However, I have to budget dog grooming and like to know how much I am paying. There has never been a time when I was charged the same amount and the increases aren't slight. I took both my dogs two months ago and it was $100 which was up from the $80ish from the time before. Today when I picked them up it was $125 and I asked why it was $25 more than last time and she said they spent 30 extra minutes combing them out because of mats. I said that was surprising since I had just brushed them and one dog had zero yesterday and the other had one... she said yeah they should have said something when you dropped them off. She also had a charge for "moral support" which was because she said one dog was not enjoying getting brushed. She was referring to my male dog and I can understand that, I definitely want them to feel comfortable when working with my dogs but the other charges that keep adding up don't always make sense and leave me frustrated and feeling ripped off when I leave. Also, my female dog does not even get her nails or teeth done so I just paid $125 for two shampoos, hair cuts, and one to have his teeth cleaned possibly and his nails done. If you have a lot of money to spend and do not need clarification for what you are being charged and are okay with increases every visit without notice then this is the place for you. But on the bright side, the dogs usually look great. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET TO THIS PLACE! They have a new manager - Diane is no longer the manager (who was always and helpful and really seemed to care). The new "manager" - Amy has bad customer service skills - tried to overcharge me $15.00 for a haircut for a new dog we brought in. I have been a loyal customer for over 8 years. Our previous dog passed away in January 2012. So we got another dog that is a VERY similar breed (just different color) in September 2012 and brought her in and the haircut price went from $35.00 to $50.00. One of her new "employees" belittled and yelled at me in front of other customers when I tried to get him to explain how they could justify the price increase - which they never could. Their only "excuse" was that it had been several months since I had been there and that prices do increase - really? - a $15.00 increase in a few short months? I think not. It seems as if the new "manager" is trying to scam customers now that Diane is not there. Bad move Pampered Paws by hiring her as your manager. I seem to recall that she came to your place after being at Resa's groomers and was a terrible groomer there as well. We had the misfortune of trying out Resa's in 2004 before we came to Pampered Paws in 2004 and our dog came home with a terrible haircut. After a few bad haircuts done by Amy we ended up at Pampered Paws (no fault of Resa's - just bad groomer). Imagine our dismay when Amy was employed by Pampered Paws but we chose to stick it out and try to request a different groomer on the days our dog was there. By the way, as I have read here on other posts, my dog had always barely made it home without having an accident of needing to pee and would pee buckets when arriving home. Also , our dog would drink tons of water - it's obvious they were not being given adequate water and not being taken out to use the bathroom enough like they claimed they do. If you love your pet, clearly this is not the place to take it. Do yourself a favor and stay far away! read more
