So first off, this is a great place. We were up there this last week and my 27 year old shot a P90 full auto and our 13 year old shot a .22 pistol, a first time for her. Guidance, safety and patience are all up front and done perfectly. Everyone enjoyed the shoot and I cannot say enough great things about it. They have an excellent variety of firearms to choose from and the guys there are really outstanding. Sure it costs a few bucks but a memorable point for a vacation and we even got to see the gatling gun fired. Cody is a great town and the Cody Firearms Experience is a great and safe place to go. read more

My dad and I came in to fire the Thompson, unfortunately it had a malfunction during the safety lesson. The staff was more than willing to make up for it. As we were nearing the end of our session, the Thompson was operable again and we were allowed a couple rounds each. They really bent over backwards to make our day, wish we lived closer so we could take advantage more often. Thanks a million guys!!! read more

We went in minimum enthusiasm and very little expectations and were absolutely satisfied. Coming in with my brother who has Cerebral Palsy we were hoping to find a way to have him fulfill his dream of firing a lever-action rifle and Kari was more than willing to facilitate that. We visited Cody Firearms Experience during our stay in Cody, June 2019, My Wife and two teenage sons. We are gun owners, hunters and experienced shooters. This place is NOT just a range, its also a school and museum of firearms packed into the nicest indoor range I have ever seen. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and VERY Safety oriented. It does not matter if you are an old soldier or someone who has never held a gun, this place IS for you! You pick the weapons you wish to shoot, receive and in depth safety orientation (its not just a "briefing") you learn the history of each weapon you shoot and the instructor demonstrates and fires the weapon so you know what to expect. It is a VERY safe and controlled environment. This was nice for my wife in her first experience with a full auto. The boys had a blast with the Gatling, Thompson and Walker Colt. My wife and I shot the P-90. If you are a gun owner and avid shooter, I recommend this place! If you have never held a gun or are afraid of guns then I double recommend this place!! Shooting guns on my vacation was about the last thing I thought I would be doing, but our family had the best experience at Cody Firearms. The owner walked us through all the safety procedures quickly and with a sense of humor. His love of firearms is evident. He handed us off to Junior who shepherded our family through the best fun we could have. He was patient, observant, experienced and had a ton of information to share about the history, use, manufacturing of each piece we worked it. It was great. My 10 yo. loved shooting the Gatling!! This was a great experience!!! Where else can you shoot a Gatling Gun, M-16, then Black Powder?!?!? They even let me shoot up a t-shirt as a souvenir! I learned a lot! You can tell they really know their stuff! I really liked the professionals. They seemed to be a great team and I never felt pressured. Even though shooting the Gatling Gun was an adventure, I always felt safe. Oh, and there was a shoot me up arcade too!!!! All my friends and family had a blast! read more

Awesome experience! We rented a few of the historical guns, and got a neat little history lesson with each one. It was just us and the range officer, and it was a one-on-one lesson with every weapon. Perfect process for children -- my kids picked out what they wanted to shoot, and we were walked through every single step. My kids loved it and can't wait to do it again. I went here last october 2016, as part of my yellowstone trip. and im glad i stopped by. I think it was Katie who was my RSO? (im not so sure) but anyways she was very patient, friendly and helpful. Ive been to other firing ranges where the RSO's were not patient and totally rude, she took time for me to hold and get familiar with the firearms before I get to shoot which is a big plus. She even went thru the calibers, history, and background of the firearms. its a great place to bring first timers to shoot. The only downside was the lack of modern firearms selection which really isnt a big problem but for experienced shooters it maybe something to think about, but then again i think they just opened not so long ago so their inventory may be more now. They are the reason why im really into firearms now. got 2 rifles since. ;) read more

Outstanding experience with real guns from the old west. All the range personnel are extremely careful and concerned with safety. We shot the Winchester rifle and the Colt 45 revolver. On vacation in Wyoming. Stopped by to take a look (ate at Our Place next door--amazing) and ended up shooting a number of different firearms. Greeted by Charlie, the sweet yellow Lab and assisted by Jim, the endlessly patient and skilled instructor who took very good care of me, my husband and my three very excited little boys. Decided to take my 17-year old son shooting after he found out while on vacation in Austin, TX that it was legal for people to carry licensed guns and after he showed heavy interest in guns. While vacationing in Yellowstone National Park we found this place while visiting Cody, WY. Everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful especially since we were clueless as to how the whole process worked. Scott was our instructor. We were extremely impressed with his knowledge and patience when instructing our son. Would definitely recommend this place if you're interested in shooting.
