It had good reviews on Yelp, so I decided to give it a go. And I'm glad I did. Everything was excellent. The outdoor seating was nice, the workers were friendly, my waitress Jae was very attentive, and most importantly, the fish sandwich was top notch. It certainly seemed to be freshly made and not frozen. I ordered fries on the side in addition to Cole slaw. The slaw was nice and creamy. While I generally don't like battered fries, these were pretty tasty. The only slight negative was the cost. At almost $30 for my sandwich plus a beer, it seemed a little pricey to me. But sometimes you have to pay for quality. I will return.

A Hidden Gem Worth Leaving the Turnpike For! After making…read morethe drive between Northern Virginia and Ohio for more than 20 years, we couldn't believe we had never discovered Out of the Fire Café before. Anyone who regularly travels the Pennsylvania Turnpike knows how hard it is to find a truly memorable place to eat. This one is absolutely worth the short detour. The atmosphere is charming, the view is beautiful, and the food exceeded every expectation. We had to try their famous mushroom soup, and even though I'm not normally a mushroom fan, it was hands-down one of the best cups of soup I've ever had. The smoked salmon salad was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the Filet Mignon Sandwich special, and every bite was packed with incredible flavor. Our server was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She made us feel right at home and added to what was already a wonderful dining experience. We finished with the Bananas Foster. While it wasn't the tableside flaming presentation you'd find at a fine-dining restaurant, the flavor was outstanding and the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be making Out of the Fire Café a tradition on our future trips. If you're traveling the Pennsylvania Turnpike, do yourself a favor and make the stop--you won't regret it!

Since we moved away from this area in the late 60's, our dining at the White House back then was on a limited basis. We do remember eating at this establishment with my wife's brother in law sometime in the past. Two of our party had the haddock one fried and one grilled, one had the crab cakes and I had the special (stuffed scallops with crab stuffing). Our meals also came with the bread and soup bar. The selection of bread was great, maybe 5 or 6 kinds, and the soup of the day was delicious beef noodle. Cubes of Swiss and cheddar cheese were also available. Everyone enjoyed the great service, the great food and the family ambiance. We will return again when we are back in this area.

Our waitress was super great and gave us some ideas on what to order since it was our first visit. Ended up getting the Good Burger and a side of their spaghetti with marinara. The burger fixins were similar to the Golden Arch namesake double burger but soooooo much more meat. It was so ridiculously huge with two patties of burger stacked an inch plus thick that I took one burger off to eat later. The burger with pickles and sauce were just right and plenty of diced tomatoes and lettuce offered some respite from the meat extravaganza. It was a good burger for sure. The marinara on the spaghetti is a little watery but absolutely delicious. I really liked the flavors. This is a nice local place with tons of PA beers on tap. We'll be back at dinner sometime to try those.

We were visiting our son at college and really enjoyed everything we ordered. My only complaint was the noise level--it was very hard to hear each other. But if it were just me and the hubby looking for some really good food, we'd definitely be back!

The inside is basically a poorly lit bar with a few tables. The outside, however, is a different story. They have a very nice patio area, which is where I chose to sit this evening. I was surprised that the restaurant was mostly empty on a Friday night at 6:00. The waitress informed me that things don't get hopping here until after 9:00, when they have live music or a DJ. Again, this is mostly a bar. Onto the food. I had their messed up taters and their caprese BLT. Let's do the bad first. The BLT was a poor attempt. It was mostly lettuce with some sort of balsamic sauce. I could swear I also tasted mustard for some reason. Very little bacon. I think there was supposed to be mozzarella on the sandwich but I couldn't find any. Two stars. I would stay away from that one. Now for the positive - the loaded taters were absolutely delicious. Lots of cheese, both cheese sauce and shredded. Plus a nice helping of bacon. Can't believe I ate the whole thing myself. Here's why I'm giving this 4 stars - the whole meal cost around $15. You can barely get a fast food meal for $15 and this was way better. My Blue Moon drafts were only $5. I will come here again on a nice summer evening, enjoy their patio, get the taters and try something different for my meal.

Menu items include French toast, pancakes, waffles, omelettes, sandwiches, salads, soups, and non-alcoholic beverages. My husband and I ate breakfast here one time. I ordered the 14-inch buttermilk pancake with triple berries on top, and my husband ordered the sausage gravy 'n biscuits with two sunnyside-up eggs.
