The enterior is fall marble and bronze very detailed. The building had a Post Office on the first floor, you can still see the PO boxes and the teller windows for the post office. The building today houses lots of government offices. When I came here to take some pictures, a security guard soon arrived but seemed happy when I told him I liked the building and recommended some shots, and a visit to the Pioneer Court house. Fun Fact #1 it is now named for Gus J Solomon, the longest serving judge in Oregon's District Court.. Fun Fact #2 Several movies and tv shows have filmed here including an episode of Grimm which has exterior shots.

Solomon United States Courthouse is a federal courthouse located in downtown Portland, Oregon, United States. Completed in 1933, it previously housed the United States District Court for the District of Oregon until the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse opened in 1997. This courthouse currently is used by commercial tenants and formerly housed a U.S. Postal Service branch. In 1979, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places as U.S. Courthouse. The women's restroom had an entryway with a chaise lounge to relax upon, and I can imagine ladies powdering their noses here some 60 years ago. The interior and exterior both have the feel of an older world.

Who knew I would review a police department - especially when I do not live here! I definitely do…read morenot like to need the police but was so grateful. This experience made me more likely to reach out to the police. I do delivery driving and prefer to work through the middle of the night because I genuinely feel safer. During the day people order from apartments that have no where you can safely pull over with all the cars. The cars on the road are excessive and aggressive. The people you drop to barely tip yet are very rude. Nighttime is the opposite usually and most deliveries are just to nice people who work late like security or laboratories. I get lots of houses all over town and have the joke to please get stoned and order but stay conscious to leave your porch light on at least. 230am I get a Taco Bell pickup and drive it over to a very lovely Lake Oswego house with a large solid magnetic gate with a fancy keypad and voice. They left the code saying to just leave the food and here's the entry code. Cool, through the gate, drop food and take the photo. I went to leave and was very confused as there is zero trigger to get back out. I looked and looked. I tried the text to customer and calling the customer. The house has zero signs of life and Ubereats customer service was ridiculously unhelpful. I called the non emergency line for Lake Oswego and the very kind dispatcher and I chatted - she really made me feel better. I do not like being trapped and there was a one foot space under the gate I even tried to see if maybe I could squeeze under but nope. I thought the police would take forever, not take me seriously or something... I made a lot of assumptions as I was genuinely a bit scared and distressed feeling helpless and trapped. I was in shock as to how fast the police arrived - seriously it could not have been even five minutes after she said she was able to dispatch someone. He was so kind, went right to the keypad to enter the code (I seriously will never forget this person's gate code!!!) and the amount of relief hearing that magnetic lock unhinge...I resisted the VERY strong urge to run straight into his arms. I wanted to shake his hand while thanking him and seriously hearing him say his first name versus that authoritarian attitude you expect was so nice. Also, him giving me their number and stating that since I am over there delivering hopefully I don't need them but that they are definitely there if I do.

On or about 10-25-24 a Milwaukie Sgt. noticed a bike out of place in their impound. He ran the serial numbers and found it to be the $5,400+ bike that was stolen. YAY! I am a retired police chief and knew all sorts of officers. My salutations to Sgt. Inman. He is a reflection of nothing but the highest standards of good police work in Milwaukie and its department. Whether they will leverage this find to root out the other , very expensive, bike remains to be seen but the person that got arrested with the bike may be sweating a bit right now. Located just steps from the Hawthorne Bridge, there is always a lot of activity in the area with people walking, running, riding bikes, scooters and the homeless tents and community. Those that work here are always respectful of everyone. It goes without saying that they keep their equipment and firehouse in spotless condition. Including the area right outside their facility where many come to sit on the benches, get a drink of water, or just take in the view of the city across the Willamette. Stopped by the library to pick up a library card. The library is on a main street. There is a…read morebus line across the street. Neighborhood library as the library is across from some apartments and right by the library is a small park called Scotts Park,where you can walk your dogs and relax. One level library with high ceilings. You come in to the foyer, there are set of comfy chairs where you can sit and relax. Enjoy the area and be at peace with yourself. There is a seed library with everything from flowers, herbs, ornamental, fruits and misc drawers. You just pick the seed that you will want to bring back home. It's a very open library where everything is labelled. Many meeting rooms are available to reserve. There is a teen room where they can sit and relax and study. There are many tables with lamps where you can bring your computer and do work. If you go through another door there is a "Children's Room." There are many children books there and tables to sit and read. Even am area where they can play quietly. This neighborhood library is fun to walk in and just check it out while you are in the area. Catch the bus and walk around downtown Milwaukie and see the shops around.

They took care of my application right on time. My second visit was to obtain replacement month of expiration stickers to replace my badly faded ones. The person at the front desk, doing triage for people without appointments, was able to check my ID and instantly get me the stickers without having to visit a counter at all. Genuine efficient service. Well done, DMV.

The line was wrapped around the building. I was pretending like I was ok with it, but when someone came out and said everyone with appointments could jump the line and move up, I kicked it up to fourth gear. Unfortunately this excitement didn't last long. I got to the front of the line, and then an announcement comes over the intercom. "Entire state of Oregon has outage. License printing is down." I know I wasn't the only person upset, but it kinda killed my buzz. The woman who verified my information was super nice though. She was very impressed that I had all of the correct documents. Well since it opens tomorrow at 8 am, I am gonna take the trip out there and pray that the system is back up. If I am smart I will call before I go.
