Great little coffee shop - small town charm Nice area to sit out back Good coffee and snack options

Cat drinking coffee and reading a book. A quote: "that's what I do, I read books, I drink coffee, and I know things"

Really fantastic ambience, very focused on literature and the joy of reading! The service was perfect, efficient and to the point. We ordered 3 bagels and they were delicious.

My friends and I were in the area for the weekend staying at an AirBnB and decided to find somewhere on our way out of town to stop for coffee and something to eat. We found Coffee House 26, and were pleasantly surprised at how amazing this little place was! My best friend and I are both current/past baristas in Portland, and we're not necessarily the snooty kind of coffee drinkers, but we are certainly used to pretty high quality coffee, and WOW, we were amazed by how delicious our drinks were! I got an oatmilk cappuccino and my friend got an almond lavender latte. They are very LGBTQ+ friendly, even selling cute rainbow merch, and the vibes are immaculate. When we came in at about 11am on a Sunday, Amber was the only person working, and there was a large group ahead of us, who had each ordered a drink and a food item, so my group expected to have to wait for a good while. Amber absolutely slayed that rush, all by herself!! And the whole time, she was making conversation with customers and giving the best service. I don't have the opportunity to come out to this area very often, but you better believe that when I do, I'll be making a stop here, and I sure hope I have the pleasure of having Amber make my coffee! You can't go wrong at this place.

Cool little place. Perfect for breakfast. Super nice and fast service. They also sell merch from the place!! Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Cute spot in Mt Hood village with a lot of seating. Got the breakfast sandwich, not bad. Service was a little slow but very friendly.

Great menu. Such a wide selection of mixed coffees, milk alternatives, and flavors. Their drip is also delicious.

This was a truly excellent find during a recent family road trip. The ambience was relaxed and friendly, and the coffee, mochas, and hot chocolate were all top notch. We were sad to have to leave!

I ordered a drip medium roast, grabbed some of their own beans to take home, and added a chocolate chip cookie and a sugar cookie to the order. The coffee was clearly the star here--roasted in-house with the kind of attention to quality you can taste in every sip. This is the type of independent shop that reminds you why you veer off the main road. Cozy and small with a rustic Oregon feel, there's no frills and no seating--just a laser focus on excellent coffee and a few well-chosen treats. The staff were warm and friendly, exactly the kind of welcome you hope for in a roadside discovery. As our Oregon trip winds down, Mount Hood Roasters stands out as one of those local gems you can't help but admire for its simplicity and dedication to doing one thing exceptionally well. The shop is situated in an iconic part of NW 21st; it exudes sophisticated and timeless charm. Stepping inside, you see the historical bones of the building laced with modern touches of hip decor and thoughtful design. It's a bit retro and a bit edgy all while being chic, so it's very well aligned with Portland itself. Sit on a live edge bench! Enjoy a marshmallow stick. Stare at the luxurious wallpaper. But don't let these things deter you from the epic coffee experience that awaits you. Subtly smooth, adequately bold and flavors aplenty... all served with a smile. The staff is incredibly friendly. My drink was even delivered my table by the barista! The bathroom is clean and parking is available on the street. They have all the classics and then some. There were aromas of homemade chai permeating the space as I sipped my coffee. This is an experience that can't be boiled down to 'just coffee.' It's not just another errand when you're in NW either. It's the kind of place where a random stranger next to you says aloud that 'this is the best coffee in Portland' as you walk by. And they mean it. One of my favorite coffee experiences of the year so far. It's memorable on many levels, and the atmosphere aligns so well with the vibrancy of our city. You owe it to yourself, and to maintaining the true spirit of Portland, to stop in, stay and sip a while. There's no better way to identify with Sterling than through firsthand experience. See you there soon.

Fernie's Coffee & ZigZag 4 Stars…read more Headed up toward Mt. Hood, I swung into Fernie's Coffee & ZigZag on a cold mountain morning, chasing a memory more than a meal. Back in the day when this place went by a different name and the vibe was more Hoppin' they made some of the greatest biscuits and gravy around. Legendary stuff. So naturally, I had to try it again. Good news: it didn't disappoint. I won't swear it's as good as the original incarnation (time has a way of polishing memories), but it's a solid second-best, and that's saying something. The biscuits were hearty, the gravy did its job, and I left full and ready for the road. The coffee? Decent. It'll wake you up, won't change your life, but it'll get you to Timberline without falling asleep at the wheel. That said, the place feels like a ghost of its former self. Sad to see the market closed that part stings a little. The building still holds the echoes of what it used to be, and you can almost feel the history lingering in the corners. Service-wise, there was a moment. The lady at the counter was BS-ing with some guy at the window for a solid five minutes or maybe he was just standing there, staring into the void but either way, I was ready to order. That little pause cost them a star. Still, for the price, the convenience, and the fact that I was in and out with no line while heading up the mountain, it earns four stars. It's good, it's familiar, it's just missing something. If they ever find it again, this place could really shine.
