We stopped here on our way home out of Government Camp (less than 15 mins drive) for breakfast. It was pretty empty for a Monday morning so we had our pick of the seats and decided to sit right by the window. I would describe the style as cabin getaway vibes. They have the main restaurant part and a deli section for grab and go things. There was also an upstairs area where the restroom was but I wasn't sure if it was actually open for dining (my toddler loved the wooden bear statue toilet holder! How cute!) There was a corner area by the fireplace mantle with board games that seemed very family friendly. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were told we can sit wherever. And water and drink orders were taken right away. I got the Lumberjack Breakfast special with the sourdough pancake option (available when they have them) and the sausage was super flavorful! My husband got the classic eggs Benedict. We got enjoyed our breakfast potatoes and I'm glad his came with fresh fruit! I haven't made up my mind about the sourdough pancake yet but I would recommend coming for breakfast here in our out of your way from your Government Camp trip! read more

We stopped here after taking our dogs for a hike in Wildwood. I must say that I was skeptical when we walked in, because it smelled like their grease trap hadn't been serviced in a while. The young man that waited on us, was courteous and quick to greet us and bring our beverages. I ordered lemonade and it was delicious. My husband ordered an egg scramble and he said it was yummy....albeit a very large portion. I ordered a Monte Crisco sandwich and fry's and a small bowl of fruit. Again, the portions were large. I only ate 1/2 of my sandwich and took the rest home...it was very good and the fry's were thin and crispy..loved them. The fruit was hand cut and very fresh and seasonal. We would stop here again, when on the Hood. The prices are a bit steep, but understandable, being on the mountain. Needs must. read more

Absolutely incredible. The food was so good. You could really tell it was homemade. Best pancake of my life. The sausage was really delicious and had fennel in it. The jam was homemade and perfectly tart. The service was really great and the people that work there were kind. The atmosphere was glorious. Coming from someone who used to make biscuits every day, these are NOT biscuits. They're burnt scones. The coffee is below mid and my potatoes were undercooked. The chicken fried steak was pretty good though. The eggs were good as well but it's kind of hard to mess those up. Unfortunately this was a less than pleasant experience and it seems that it is quite common for ZigZag customers to be left waiting for over an hour without acknowledgment and apologies. We should have known that this was par for the course. Initially we were very excited to stop by the Cafe after a long hike in the Mt. Hood area. We went inside and asked if we could sit outside on the patio. After 15 minutes had gone by, I went in and had to ask if a server would come by with waters and take our order... it took probably another 10 minutes to get 3 waters and a Bloody Mary. We sat waiting and waiting for our food. An hour and 15 mins went by... we contemplated getting up and leaving as that type of service is inexcusable. Reluctantly we waited and finally the food came. The only reason I've given them two stars is because the food was pretty good. I hate to write a review like this but the lack of customer service or acknowledgment is disappointing. They could have preemptively shared that there is a longer wait time or apologized but there was none of that. Very very disappointing experience. Firstly the atmosphere is so adorable you really Feel like you're in a little mountain cabin. It was the perfect little brunch spot on our way to Mt. Hood. Can't go wrong with chicken and waffles!! There was a nice outdoor seating area. The country fried steak wasn't our favorite. The meat was sort of tough and thick, but I'd definitely stop here again when traveling through. We have eaten here a few times and really liked it. They have a really good bacon cheeseburger, always a plus in my book. Everything we have tried has been good! Then one morning we stopped in and saw a buffet set up. A quick browse told us that there was nothing in it we wanted to eat, but they said they were still serving menu items. Tables were squeezed together so that we could barely get in with dad's mobility device. Service was extremely slow, not normal for them based on our previous visits. The next week they were no longer offering menu items, just the buffet. Hard pass, not our thing. If you're going there and they DON'T have the buffet, the food is good. If you like buffet breakfasts, you might enjoy it. They're no longer a breakfast stop for us. read more

Best biscuits in Oregon! I'm a southerner, and this is a proper southern biscuit, probably better than 90% of what you get in Texas. Crunchy exterior, fluffy interior, laminated in many layers. Perfect salt level. A thing of beauty. I had a scramble with a very generous portion--4 eggs. The marionberry pancakes are really good, with some crispy edges and buttered on the bottom. Atmosphere is typical mountain ambiance - full of wood paneling, eclectic, and so homey. Highly recommend the breakfast here! read more

First of all, I was looking for a breakfast place to eat. Of course they serve breakfast items but staying in this area for the last couple of days there wasn't many options to eat. On my way to see a client I stopped by for some black coffee. I was surprised to see that they were serving pizza in the morning at 7:30 AM. I asked if they could make me one and they obliged. This is one of the best pizzas I've had, it's not a New York style pizza is crispy at the bottom and toppings on top. after 20 minutes or so many locals started to appear. This was the place to eat in the morning. I was waiting outside on the phone and the staff brought me my pizza fresh. It was superb. The place appeared very welcoming. I couldn't ask for anything more. If you're in the area definitely stop by. You will not be disappointed. read more

I came here for breakfast we got seated immediately, the server mentioned the wait for food would be about 30 minutes and we were okay with that. They took over an hour and a half to bring food, and it was not busy in there. There were 3 other tables in the restaurant. They didn't stop by once to refill our coffee or water. Eaten here twice. Food made from scratch. Their biscuits are to die for!! I'm normally NOT a biscuit eater but their biscuits are so light and fluffy. I want the recipe! The chicken fried steak was outstanding. Not the traditional sage gravy either. The pancakes were standalone. No sides. But they were huge and covered in Marionberry and whipped cream. We were greeted from the moment we walked in and had a server take our order in a timely manner. We ordered the veggie scramble and the Marion berry waffle. The food came out piping hot and was delicious! This is a charming little cabin up on Mt Hood and a great stop after a hike or before skiing! So the food once it FINALLY came was surprisingly pretty good. But overall the customer service was terrible/non existent and they were clearly understaffed. So we were trying to be patient but it Took more than 20 minuets just to get an employee to acknowledge our party, another 40 minutes for them to take our order and over an hour for the food. No apologies whats so ever and an older gentleman working only grudgingly took our order when asked and continued to ignore other guests around us. I hate to give poor reviews especially for a small local business that actually had quality food, if they hired a couple more wait staff and put even a minescule amount of effort into customer service it could be a solid spot. read more

I stayed in the area with family. We ate here 3x. The service is laid back and very kind. I'm very picky about breakfast this place is perfect for our needs. You are greeted by a friendly smile you can eat inside or outside. They allow dogs on the patio. The eggs Benedict is so good! The sauce is delicious and perfect. The eggs cooked to perfection. My husband enjoyed the pancakes. I also had the biscuits and gravy. Yes! Please! Spicy Italian sausage that's how we do it! Let's take a minute to talk about that biscuit! Big fluffy with lots of airy nooks and crannies. I was pleasantly surprised on these airy little biscuits of heaven. The jam, that's a yes please! The glory of the jam must be local or house made. They came by and gave us menus and took drink orders very quickly. When the brought the drinks I wasn't quite ready to order so server went away. After 20 or so minutes hubby went in and gave our order. We waited an hour and spoke to server. They said it would be 15 more minutes. We spoke to another server and ended up leaving. Nobody apologized. Nobody acknowledges that we had been sitting at their table for 1 1/2 hours. We ended up going out for lunch at Brightwood tavern. We know that would be a good choice. :). Nice, cozy little place to stop for breakfast. Not much to look at from outside, but did not disappoint.

Delicious place; cozy atmosphere; and very prompt, friendly and competent service. Impressive, cozy log building with gorgeous live-edge wooden tables at the base of Mt. Hood. Our food and coffee was perfect: home-cooked and came to our table right away. We got there at 8am on a Saturday and this definitely seemed like a good way to beat the crowds and enjoy the calm atmosphere. 100% recommend! read more
