    Freshly roasted beans
    Jessica B.

This place is a hidden gem (and integral to the coffee history of Portland!). We ordered a black pour over and chatted with the guy running shop (Mousse). Thank you Mousse for welcoming us to Portland/Beaverton! We learned that the owner of Thornton's has been in the coffee business for over 40 years. We also learned that the Thornton's have a familial line of Q Graders! It's crazy to think of the start-to-end process in making my cup of coffee. Imagine: Thornton's global network with farmers, transporting single origin beans while maintaining bean integrity, then roasting the beans in-house, and finally creating a brew that passes the trained taste buds of a Q grader. I recommend buying a bag of beans since they roast frequently. The bag I bought was roasted 2 days ago! Since coming to Portland, I haven't found a bag with a roast date of less than a week (also I could be looking in the wrong places... til now). The sheer variety of beans is also insane! And to ALSO be single origin?! The coffee here is more than a drink... It's a culture, it's a standard, it's a philosophy of how coffee should be enjoyed and why coffee quality should continue evolving. I will be making the 20 minute drive every few weeks to restock on coffee beans. Do yourself a favor and savor the taste of their finest cup of brew.

I'm moving from Beaverton to Hillsboro and wanted to try this place before I left. This is probably the best coffee in Beaverton! Now I'm leaving :( Hopefully can find an equivalent in Hillsboro.

My take home beans. Cannot wait!

After receiving a recommendation about this place I went there after visiting the nearby food carts. All I can say is... WOW! Really great roast, perfectly prepared with extremely professional latte art. It was like going to Stumptown but only better. I don't normally buy any baked goods but I purchased two cookies that were out of this world. I went back and bought a bag of beans to take home. I will be going back to this place as much as possible. A+ experience

Wonderful local roaster, a great place to stop at ge walk up window for a freshly made custom brew or rich drip coffee or to mail order for self or gifts. They have some yummy pasties as well. Always lovely service.

The latte was good but wasn't as strong for me. Would definitely try adding an extra shot next time. I would recommend you give this place a try. Hoping to try other drinks the next time am around the Beaverton are.

    Medium mocha $4.75. ( 2 shots, 12 oz cup).

We ducked in here for a mocha to find a small person at the window helping her barista mom out on a Sunday morning. Too cute. She's an expert punch card stamper. This truly is a family operation. We ordered two medium half sweet mochas. They were 12 ounce with 2 shots for $4.75. They tasted good. It is a little expensive for 12 oz but it is nice to support a local business. Things to know: 1 It's tricky to get into their parking lot. If you come north on Hall from Canyon you turn into the pool/spa place's parking lot. The coffee window is on the right and has some designated spots. 2) We saw a few scones and croissants but it is clear they are about the beans not about food. We got breakfast burritos at Mexicali Express instead. 3) Check their hours before you go. They are not Starbucks. 4) Get a punch card. 5) There is an umbrella but no table or seating. Plan accordingly. We liked our coffee. Definitely tasty (not burnt or sour or bitter). Nice family too.

What a wonderful place. Walk-up service area, great selection of coffees, nice selection of brews at a reasonable price. Stopped in the other day to buy four bags of coffee for a canoe trip I was prepping for. The young lady that helped me out (see photo below) was exceptionally friendly and did a great job helping me to select varieties that would be a good fit for our paddlers. Then she custom-ground them for my french press. Because of the large size of my order she was kind enough to comp me with a free beverage - I tried a glass of the cold brew which was truly wonderful. See the prices for prepared drinks in the photo below. I had to check out the roasting area and they were working away (see photo below). The coffee bags are labeled with the roast date so you know exactly how fresh they are. Worth a stop!

Located on the backside of the blue building at Hall Blvd and Millikan Way.

Full flavor coffee concoctions prepared by friendly baristas at reasonable prices. The mocha is a winner with its strong coffee flavor, locally made chocolate, and skilled barista bringing it all together. Food items are limited, and look to be brought in from an outside baker. There is no indoor seating; this is basically a coffee window next to the coffee roasting warehouse; come for the quality and flavors, rather than to hang out. Can be hard to find. Look for the Thornton truck parked in the lot, or the blue spa supply store that shares the building.

SERVICE What captivated me at first, beyond the super clean premises with everything neatly organized and accessible, was the friendliest service that included a smile from ear to ear and banter, something I haven't experienced in many months, maybe in a couple of years! To top it off, we didn't wait but 2 minutes after paying, and our entire order was ready! FOOD The espresso double shot was exceptionally delicious. Creamy, foamy, the right balance between sweetness and bitterness. We tried the Blueberry Hand-pie ($5) and it's, as you'd expect, sugary and crunchy, however is no match to the Date Sugar Scone ($4.75) which was highly recommend it, the best in our opinion! The Zucchini muffin ($4.75) is deceiving as it looks like chocolate but it tastes like you're eating healthy. It has little pieces of green something, to demonstrate that it's actually vegan, and probably made by vegans. And the label says that it's vegan. And did I mention that it's vegan?! The Mocha needed sugar to add up to the sugary chocolatey flavor of major coffee shops. Not really my favorite, but then again, I'm here to try real coffee as recommended by my friend Dennis! ENVIRONMENT Super clean and organized. They have an amazing music selection playing and one can bring their coffee home to make, as they have a good selection of whole bean coffee bags from around the world to choose from.

The place is quite unique. It's like walking into someone's home. The business is not inside the actual commercial area but more in a neighborhood just a block or two where the actual commercial businesses are located in old town Beaverton. Just before you walk in, there were photos of dogs waiting to be adopted which set the tone. When we walked in, the entire place was adorned with photos, drawings, anything and everything dog related. There were even some folks who brought their dogs with them (now you get the theme). To the left was the owner/barista who took your drinks and any sandwich orders. I decided to get blended mocha and a Deluxe Bagel sandwich with sausage. Man what a delicious bagel sandwich. It took a little while to make but for good reason. I had the Asiago cheese put on. The bagels were wrapped in sandwich paper and served on a platter. As for the mocha- perfect flavor. Not too sweet, not too chocolatey- the flavor was spot-on. Very impressive. The place really felt homely and you are literally inside someone's house which felt warm and inviting. I can't wait to visit here again. The parking lot front of their business can probably hold about 6-8 cars and there's a sushi restaurant a few suites down including another business about to open soon (associated to sushi but forgot what food they'll be selling). Parking spots face the business with some spots along the side of the road.

Looking at their website, there were a couple of coffee beans that I wanted to try. So I navigated there and was a bit confused by the store location. The coffee shop is situated in a industrial business park, though I quickly figured out that they had storefronts too. I found the spot and walked in. I was greeted by Carey, who introduced herself as the owner of Roasted By Mom Coffee. That's when I learned that this space had 3 independent coffee roasters who share the same equipment and store to sell to customers. And the day I went, Carey was there to serve her coffee beans. So I ordered an Iced Vanilla Latte and a black coffee. She didn't have any drip coffee readily available, but she went out of her way to get fresh beans she allowed me to choose to grind and brew a fresh cup for me. Wonderful customer service! I didn't have to wait long for my drinks to be finished. P2 said she enjoyed hers and I thought mine wasn't too bad. The beans I chose, Mom Goes Nutty, has hints of peanut butter, which I could taste in my cup. It was a different experience for sure. Overall, I thought I had a 5-star experience, though the coffee I tried wasn't what I would normally drink.
