Huge selection of baked goodies! We were excited to stop by on our way into Kingston, and this was a highly recommend stop by our friends. There's a dining area and then the retail side. We didn't stay in so we wandered the store side a bit. There were a lot of ready-made meals like pies and sausage rolls and ice creams. You could pick up a tasty sweet treat, some freshly baked breads, and a lot of lovely dessert options. They also had some local goodies like County Bounty sodas, jams, teas, and others. I picked up a few local goodies and then a cinnamon bun (which was massive!) and a ginger cookie. The ginger cookies were delicious. Soft, molassas cookies with that chewy texture. The cinnamon bun was huge and more bread-y than sweet, which I really liked. It had such a great flavour. We wanted to grab some pies too but we couldn't bring them on the road with us. Definitely gotta bring a cooler next time we're heading into Kingston. The staff are also so friendly here and do their best to get through the crowd in an organized and fast way. Ordered an oatmeal raisin cookie, a sausage roll and a croissant. The oatmeal raisin cookie was good, although a bit too hard (maybe its a day old?). We had to reheat the sausage roll at home as they did not offer to do it in store, which was fine since we weren't planning on eating it right away. It was just ok, it had a lot of minced meat inside. The croissant was good but not the best I've had. read more

Amazing food and great service especially if you are looking to have a large party or gathering

On a return trip to Kingston, I knew exactly where I wanted to go after waking up -- straight to Bread & Butter to grab a bunch of their freshly baked pastries and breads, along with a quiche and anything else that caught my eye. The service is always friendly and helpful if you have any questions, and checking out is pretty easy although the place can get busy. This last trip, we grabbed buttery, flaky croissants as well as pain au raisin which had the perfect level of sweetness. Portuguese egg tarts had a creamy custard filling and charred top. The mushroom quiche was easy to reheat and was brimming with mushrooms and Swiss cheese surrounded by a tasty crust. There are a lot of other breakfast and takeout cold and reheat at home options, as well as soups, that would be great to try too! read more

Their crostini are by far the best crostini I have ever had. They have a rich flavour of olive oil and fresh herbs. Taste great out of the bad or with toppings. I really enjoyed their quiche too. read more

Absolutely beautiful variety of sweet and savory offerings. We ordered a lovely chocolate bd cake with raspberry cream filling. We had cheddar and chive biscuits, croissants, cinnamon rolls - let's just say the list went on at both of our visits. High quality ingredients and lots of butter make this bakery one of my go to stops when I'm at our cottage. There are also take out meals and the Toast and Jam restaurant next door. I cannot say enough good things about Bread & Butter and their helpful and friendly staff (particularly Bhoomi). We are visiting Kingston last-minute from the SF Bay Area for a memorial service. After a very long overnight journey, we were tired and hungry. At the same time, my family of 11 is full of extremely discriminating (read: picky, difficult -to-please) Bay Area foodie types. Yet, B&B did not disappoint. The pot pies, quiches, soups, pain aux raisin, sticky buns, and breads were highlights of our trip. In fact, in the span of our 18 hours in Kingston, we made 4 separate trips to Bread & Butter! My cousin actually introduced me to this place and I am so glad she did! Now every time I come back home to Kingston to visit, I make sure to pop in and grab a loaf of bread (or two!). The shop itself is pretty tiny but bursting with various goodies. Bread and Butter offers a small selection of pre made meals, coffees, jams, pickles, and tons of freshly baked treats. Love the middle section with baskets overflowing of nibbles sent from carb heaven - bagels, croissants, pastries, and tarts! We have tried many of their offerings and have not been disappointed with anything. Our fave things to grab are the sourdough bread and the sweet egg bread, both so tasty! Bread and Butter is one of those places in Kingston you need to know about. Their pastries and pies are amazing. Coconut cream pie, banana chocolate muffins and lemon cranberry scones are personal favourites of mine. This is a 5-star review with a caveat however. If you're looking for the best cakes, Card's Bakery still holds the top spot in Kingston in my opinion. read more

Bread and Butter is a Kingston gem located in the city's west end. If it was more conveniently located, I regrettably would have made it out there more. They offer fresh baked goods made on the premises daily - things like pizza, bread, butter tarts, cinnamon rolls, pies, etc. Their chicken pies are great and are really savoury! The business is family-run with a large number of staff. I had the pleasure of meeting the daughter who helps run the backside of the business. They are friendly, amazing people. read more

This place is a treasure. Recently they introduced sourdough breads to their offerings and things became even more wonderful. Desserts, soups, so many breads to choose from ... and macarons!! Salads and savoury foods like tourtiere and mac n cheese ... if you're having a hectic day and just need some hearty, healthy comfort food, THIS is the place. In addition to the amazing treats, the owners have amazing hearts and have been good supporters of community and non-profit events over the years. I'm not a big bakery person, but boy oh boy are there some goodies here! A lot of people don't know that there is a lot more than the average bakery. When you think bakery you think bread, muffins, cookies, etc. Which are all exceptionally fantastic here (I'll list some recommendations at the end), but they have a savoury side like no other. Their pot pies are to die for, their various dips are absolutely incredible, and their mac n cheese is incomparable! I haven't bought bread anywhere else in over 2 years, mind you I moved to Kingston 2 years ago. That's just how good it is! I recommend the following: - Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins - Blueberry Muffins - Chocolate Chip Cookies - Sugar Cookies - Apple Pie - Pumpkin Pie - Chicken Pot Pie - Macaroni & Cheese - ANY Feta Dip I'll let you figure out the rest, but I think that's a good start! This business should not have anything other than 5 stars. My favourite are the peanut butter cookies but I'm sure I'd find more if I could just stop eating the peanut butter cookies. Great pies too. I was craving pie one morning so I Googled best bakeries in Kingston. This one came up consistently and let me tell you I was not disappointed. Everything I've tried here is delectable and the coconut macaroon was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth! Caramelized onion shortbread are amazing. Pie was amazing.
