As most home owners I am very capable of doing minor repairs around the home. However a word of caution if you plan on working on your garage door. The spring mechanism can be very dangerous and if you have issues related to that you must hire a professional to avoid injury. Anthony was the representative who came to my home to do the repairs. He was on time and upon arrival listened to my concerns and proceeded to present solutions to my problems. This…read moreexperience only revolves around the quoting process and visit....unfortunately, this is going to be long-winded but informative, I hope. My garage opener finally failed on a Sunday (of course, why wouldn't it at the most inopportune time?). I called this place first because of all the weekly mailers I would see for discounted services. Figured, why not? The soonest they could get a tech out was the following Tuesday morning, essentially, two days out. I spoke to a couple of reps (all nice, btw) and it just felt like a sales ploy with them. "We are family-based and your in good hands with the best company in the business" blah, blah. Sure, that's great. I asked if they could give me a BASE cost of services in which could not because they weren't the techs in the field....to me, hmm, this is suspect. All companies usually have a base cost of services. Although, ironically, they could tell me the cost of a monthly/yearly maintenance membership I could opt into at the affordable price of $140 per year. Yeah, no thanks. So, by the time this outfit showed up, I already had two other companies come out and inspect for a quote. Unsurprisingly, this outfit was the most expensive at $1100 for only a garage opener replacement and install....and that was after all the supposed "discounts" taken off. Also, it would be an added cost to warranty the labor. What?! Then, this series of barter-like banter happened where the tech calls his boss and explains how I have a much better price somewhere else. The response was about 30% cheaper from original quote at around $800. Nah, I'm good. Of course, to save cost, the other option is to buy item/parts 3rd party such as Amazon, Lowe's, etc. and have them come out to install for you for a fraction of the cost. However, this option disqualifies any labor warranty which I personally don't recommend if having professionally done. Look, I do not mind paying for products/services. Of course, I do not expect them to charge at their price, either. It's a business, I get it! However, to be originally quoted 90-100% more on top of parts/labor is absolutely absurd. Seriously...even at 50%, to be honest. Overall, to me, I find these types of business tactics to be extremely dishonest and I highly don't recommend. Definitely better and honest options in the Valley. Do research, get quotes, and....good luck!
