I went to this location over a year ago. I went on the general Cohen's website in January and learned that there was a promotion for $20 for the eye exam. When I called this location they informed me that they do not honor the promotions online because they are a franchise. The following week I went to the location in the Galleria and both my daughter were tested for new glasses. I received a phone call from an unknown number earlier this evening. When I spoke with my daughter, she told me that Cohen's reached out to her to encourage her to come in. As I result, I called to speak with them directly. The women man on the phone was very unprofessional and unpleasant once I informed her that I would not return because they do not honor the coupon. It cost nothing to be courteous with people even if they don't decide to utilize your service at the time. Going forward I will strongly discourage anyone from dealing with this location. read more

I wouldn't say this place horrible, I would say it matches the community and people that come in it. This is not a family optometrist here, its a commercial eye doctor. The receptionist, the doc and her assistant are very professional to me. The store is clean and everything is orderly but the sale tactics is tacky. I had the opportunity to visit Cohen Fashion Optical for the first time in May of 2019 I wound like to say that the staff is very pleasent but their policy or rather what the make up as they learn. The first time I came to the store it is nice and neat and clean. I arrived with my own prescription for my glasses and a coupon which inspired me to come to Cohn. The insurance pays portion and then I have an out of pocket expense. They would not honor their own Cohn fashion optical coupon. There was not a reasonable explanation as to why they would not honor it. There wasn't anything stipulated on the coupon that I could not use it with my insurance. So, I paid half of the cost and return 6/19 to pick up and complete my transaction. As of today they tell me that I cant use my coupon. Why? Because it was suppose to be use when I purchase. That sounded odd because I did try to use and they said I couldn't use it. The bottom line to this story is know your rights read your coupons.There is a problem when the store will not take their own companies coupon. read more

The staff here is very attentive And tries to get you fitted with the right glass that fits your face and style. Irene was super helpful with selecting a style that suited my needs. She was very patient, as I can sometimes be picky with choosing a style. I came in with not understanding my insurance benefits and Symone was able to help with understand it all. If you do not believe any other review on this site , please pay attention to this one. Cohen's Bay Plaza makes up prices as they go. They will mislead you, overcharge you and then refuse ANY refunds. Pay attention to their policies before payment. Rebates amounts are promised but not received.You will get all smiles when your making your purchase but if there is an issue, forget it. Renee is one of the store managers and she is very unprofessional.The rest of the staff is okay but unfortunately take their direction from Renee. I must say, my visit at this location was comfortable and smooth. Even though things are chaotic now in the world, I was originally timid and scared to come in to get my eye tested and a new glasses. When I went in my temperature was checked and hand sanitized which made be feel safe and know that this location is following the CDC guidelines. I met a wonderful tech by the name of Chanel , which helped me through the process of checking my eyes and well as helping me find a frame that was chic and looked great on me ! I made an appointment and the waiting time was not too long. After being tested with three machines I then was taken to get my eyes examined by the optometrist. I told her that I wanted my prescription for contacts and glasses. I mentioned that last year, at a different Cohen location, I only paid $40.00 and received free contacts with my insurance. She proceeded to check my insurance coverage and stated that I'll have to pay $75.00 for my contact prescription and mentioned something about 10% which totally confused me. I told that since I would not be getting the same service as the Cohens in Manhattan that it will not be necessary to exam my eyes. She was very surprised. I guess nobody has cancelled before. Before leaving, the manager tried to sell me contacts through 1800contacts which I know for a fact, that their prices are very high. I told her that I order through Lens.com with a much lower price. She stated that they don't use Lens.com. So I said my goodbyes and made an appointment with Cohens in Manhattan where last year I paid $40.00 for contacts/glasses exams and my free contacts. After my examination the person helping me at the downtown Cohens location stated that I have $200.00 towards my contact through my insurance. She was also confused as to why the Bronx location wanted to charge me $75.00 for only a contact eye exam and no free contacts. I'm currently waiting for my free contacts. read more

I had the worst experience EVER!!!!!!! My son and I waited over 2hrs on a Sunday just to be turned away. We Checked in and was told they will call us on my cellphone when my turn was coming up because my son is 7 years and was hungry. A message was never sent to me although they said they called. When i returned into the office the person who had registered right before me was called. I thought i was right on time, but they refused to see me or my son, even when i asked to just see my son they REFUSED service. This was unperfessional and shows no common decency on their behalf. I would not recommend this location to ANYONE period. I Give this Location -5 Stars but for the review must give one unfortunately..... Went in here with my brother because he was due for a new pair of glasses. I don't even know why we spent more than 5 minutes in here because it was a disaster, but they weren't my glasses. The lack of professionalism was spread throughout the store. No one knew what they were doing and had to run back and forth a hundred times to ask 3 people to answer one question. I think the manager's name was Jessica- and she was more concerned with hanging out with the employees than giving useful information, but maybe it was because he had full coverage insurance and she didn't want to deal with someone who wasn't able to spend $800 on a single pair of frames. But he got an exam, found a pair he liked covered under his plan, and then we picked them up with scratches on the lenses. When I asked to speak to the person who cuts the glasses, he told the sales rep he was too busy to talk (seriously?) It wasn't even worth the confrontation. We got out of there before further chaos ensued. A painfully ghetto establishment. We'll try Lens Crafters next time. read more

I just picked up my second pair of designer frames( love them); but this would not have been possible without the help of my sales person Simone. I initially purchased sunglasses and my everyday glasses. I had spent a great deal of money over $$$$ and was assured an exchange in 90 days if I did not like them. I came back in a few days dissatisfied and requested a different frame I did not receive the help I needed until Simone looked at my paper work the three previous clerks did not respond to my needs(they spent over 30 minutes explaining that I could not get what I wanted). Simone saved the day but this should never have happened when their policy clearly states I had the right to get a new pair of glasses! I stopped at Cohen for an eye exam in hopes of getting contact lenses for me. BIG MISTAKE. The exam was great. Doc couldn't decide which contact lenses were better for me so she placed one contact lenses on each eye (bio infinity and air optics). She told me to wear it for 20 minutes and let her know which one is more comfortable. right of the bat I felt that the bio infinity was thinner material and therefore felt more comfortable. she wrote a prescription and sent me to the front. the salesperson got my information, immediately started writing things down on the paper. He asked if I know the price is for the fitting? I told him they told me $75. he took out the calculator and after punching in numbers he told me the total was $335! I asked where that number came from. he explained that the monthly contact lenses were $65 a box & for a year supply is $260 + fitting. I then express to him that I wanted just 2 boxes (6month supply). he told me for two boxes the price jumps up to $70 a box, I went to speak with my husband and we both decided that was ok. my husband handed him the card, he left and came back with the receipt. he handed me a copy of my prescription and we left thinking everything was fine. 20 minutes later while having lunch I told my husband that I think the contact lenses are giving me a headache, he advised that I give them a call immediately so they don't order the lenses- which I did. he then handed me the receipt and told me we should go talk to the doctor. when I looked at the receipt, it said $335! I was Livid! I explain to my husband that the guy was supposed to charge for 2 boxes, not 4 boxes and that we should have been charged $215, not $335. We rushed back to Cohen and I explained the situation. one sales person told me: "we don't issue a refund, you would have to speak to the manager when she comes in tomorrow. Annoyed, but understood that there was nothing this salesperson can do. I spoke to the doctor about the headaches I was experiencing & she did more tests and said she don't think its strength of the prescription, but let's try one with less strength and see what happens anyway. Following day, I called to speak with the manager, but they told me she is not & that when she comes in she will give me a call. she didn't call, so I called again. She finally called and after explaining the situation, she said when I come in to see the doctor, she will refund me for the boxes of lenses I was over charged, I said ok. The following day, I went in because I was still experiencing the headache. I saw the doctor and she said it might be the material of the lenses. I explained to her that I have worn contact lenses before and never had that problem so maybe it might not be the lenses and that maybe I should just go with the first prescription and see my regular physician. she said, first let's try this new contact lenses material, if that doesn't work, then she would advise that I go see my physician. She then said she won't be in all of next week, so I should come see her the following week. I told her that that's fine but my husband is not going to be ok with them holding his $260 hostage for two week and that since I have already paid the $75 dollars for the exam and fitting fee, I am going to need them to return the $260 until we decide which contact lenses we should go with. she said ok. went to go speak to the manager, she refused to refund the $260. She suggested to let her hold on to our money until we come back in two weeks to make a decision to purchase contact lenses. I told her that is not acceptable to me since they overcharged me $120 and no contact lenses have been ordered yet so they are not out of any money nor are they stuck with any lenses! Mind you I have ALREADY paid $75 dollars for the exam fee. My husband wasn't having this deal at all and wanted his $260 back. At this point with a full blown headache, I told the manager to refund the $260 back into my husband card and charge my card the $130 (which is the amount for the lenses they HAVEN'T BEEN ORDERED YET). She said ok fine. So, I handed her my card and she charged $130 and my husband handed her his card for her to refund the $260, BUT NOPE, she mistakenly charged us an ADDITIONAL $260! Then says," oops, I have made a mistake and charged your card, but I have voided the transaction so it didn't go through". She then proceeded to refund the original $260 dollars. When we got home, my husband account showed that $260 have been CHARGED to his card! Causing an OVERDRAFT! After 10 days, the refund and the extra charge showed on our cards. The $130 however, was still kept till a prescription was subscribed weeks later. I decided to just purchase the lens through them and be done with it. will I ever use them again? ABSOLUTELY NOT, way too unprofessional for me (giggling and talking amongst themselves while I was in the store about my yelp review being 4 pages long). read more

Worse experience of my life. The wait time for an exam was over three hours. The Dr. in between patient appointments would spend fifteen minutes trying on sunglasses. I complained about the long wait and the commission based associate retaliated by not offering any insurance on the pair I purchased and only showing me $700 and up frames. I wanted an inexpensive frame as I was buying them for my son. Two months after buying the frames of course he broke them and I had to go back. That's when I found out there was an insurance option and less expensive frames. I told the associate my experience and asked why I wasn't offered insurance the first time and she shrugged her shoulders. These people only care about the commission and zero for the customer. Do not give them your money. There is a better place on the second floor of the mall. They don't have a fancy name but their customer service is A+++++. read more

I picked up my fourth pair of glasses today, which includes my daughters two pairs and I am very content and satisfied with my glasses. I spend more than $1800.00 dollars on glasses because I like the service which entices me to buy more frames. Soon! I will be bringing my family to Cohen's to buy frames and they love the best when it comes to products and service just like me. I had read other review's and Jessica is the manager and I am so sure that she is not the one to treat anyone wrong she must be mistaken for someone else, but she is the right person to take care of your concerns. Boris is the lens mechanic, he is also a down to earth person. Truly he is the best when it comes to lenses, it is beautifully done without any scratches, he takes pride when it comes to that. They all treat me like family! Everyone asks me where did I get my glasses from because they like them so much, and all of my glasses are Crizal 100% because I trust Boris when it comes to lenses.
