She was in a wheelchair has problems walking. i so understand policy. We were 10 minutes late one of the lady and a man. They asked me if my mom walks she does. With help Told me they can't see her she was late plus. She was in a wheelchair and it will take more time. She needed to fill papers and that the place was going to get full. Cause there was no cancellations my brother told a lady if a we could take someone else appointment we where willing to wait. And move someone early to take her place. When I asked a simple question to clarify how dual insurance works, the employee loudly accused me of 'insurance fraud' in front of everyone -- for asking a question. On February 28th, I went in to pick up glasses that had been ready since December 2025. I was greeted by an employee and clearly stated that I was there to pick up my glasses. I was told I would be helped, and I then waited nearly an hour while several customers who arrived after me were assisted first, including two couples with a baby, two men, and a woman. I observed each of them being called ahead of me. While I was waiting, a bald employee seated on the far left said twice to two coworkers, "there are other tickets," in reference to the employees standing and gossiping near the front desk only a few feet from where I was seated. That comment appeared directed at their conversation, not at assisting customers. Despite this, every new arrival continued to be helped before me. After approximately fifty minutes, I calmly approached the counter and asked why customers who came in after me had been seen first. The employee responded by stating that it had not been an hour. It had been. I left the store feeling frustrated. As I was walking out, the same bald employee loudly made "cuckoo" sounds in my direction, implying that I was irrational. That behavior was unprofessional, disrespectful, and inappropriate. I have previously purchased four pairs of glasses with progressive lenses from this location and had even brought two additional frames with me that day to order more lenses. I chose not to proceed with that purchase. I am a teacher and a single father, and it is not easy to find time to manage basic errands, which is why the glasses had been ready for over a month. To be treated in this manner after waiting that long is unacceptable. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Staring at two computer monitors five days a week will most certainly mess up your eyesight. Upon entering Metro Optics I was immediately greeted by a host at the front desk and shortly thereafter assisted by an employee. During my short wait, I walked around checking out some frames and any employee I happened to make eye contact with either said hello or asked if I was being helped. Plus for them. I made an appointment two weeks prior and was met by the Optician timely. During my check up, she was thorough with her questioning and detailed enough answering my questions. Another plus for them. Their frame collection covered under my insurance was decent, but I didn't see anything I was happy with. Upon leaving, I was given a copy of my prescription, which no one has ever done in the past. This allows you to go to another establishment and search for a frame more suitable to your liking. In the end, I found something outside of Metro Optics, but decided to bring my frames back to them due to their convenient location and just as important friendly service. I would say my experience with Metro Optics was a fairly easy process. read more

They honestly tell me what looks good spend endless amount of time taking me through the store watching me try everything and anything on and put together the most perfect glasses. It's a beautiful store with an incredible selection, Cartier, Tiffany, Prada, Coco song .... And even more beautiful children's glasses. Me and husband were just there a month ago and spent close to $800 on my husbands glasses and our 2 boys were there last year. So I just called to make an appointment for my boys as like I said it has been a year and the lady who answered the phone said I cannot make an appointment for my son because he has 3 no shows. I have been a customer with this location for a few years. When family members or friends ask for a good optics location, this is the one I refer them to. They used to work with you to ensure you are happy with services. My first encounter with this location was wonderful. Donna was helpful, attentive, and patient. A few years later, when I had to get another pair, I made the mistake of going on a day Donna was not in and instantly noticed the difference in service. This year I returned and made sure I booked on a day she would be available. I was due for a new pair and an eye exam. Though I was hesitant to go during COVID, I am happy to report that they are doing their part by cleaning frames and testing areas between patients. This last visit was one that will make me think twice before returning in the future. I am not sure what has changed, but the was not the service I was used to. The day of my appointment, I pre-registered and also updated all of my information when I initially called for the appointment. They wanted me to sign paperwork and said it was not necessary to read it. I am glad I did as my name and address were incorrect. When I brought this up, I was told that was the name insurance had on file. I knew this was not right as my insurance information has always reflected my name. The lady seemed annoyed and double checked only to find out that she had spelled my name wrong and breezed past my updated address, not the insurance. This was not a major issue and was quickly fixed. The optometrist herself and Donna are AMAZING, kind, funny, and informative. I was not impressed by any of the frames that were in the store. I was there for A WHILE and Donna did not rush me and gave honest feedback. I finally decided on a pair, paid, and was on my way. A week later, my frames were ready. Aurora adjusted them to my bubble head and off I went. A few days later, I took them in to be looked at as they were making me dizzy. This is where things took a turn. The tech who was looking them over BROKE the frames. He turned and told me he would have to order me new frames as he had broken mine. He shared 'it was one of those days' and I understood. I ensured he had my contact information to let me know when my new frames would be in and he confirmed then stated they should be in in about a week. A little less than a week later, no one called to follow up. I called to speak to Donna and someone named Denise called me back. I was told my frames would not be in for 4-6 weeks as they were on back order. At no point did anyone think to call and let me know this until I called to find out. I let her know I could not wait that long and asked about a refund. Instantly, I was told that refunds were not given. I had to remind her that my glasses being broken were not my fault. She quickly said they would have to speak to the owner because the policy was 'no refund.' I was told I could come in and pick out another frame and I shared that finding these frames were extremely difficult. She continued to tell me I could be given temporary frames until the replacement for the one their tech broke came in. I let her know that I would go in to see what could be done, but if necessary, I would need to be refunded as I can not go 4-6 weeks without glasses. The conversation was rushed and there was no apology. I don't know if the tech told anyone that he broke my glasses, but my interaction with Denise was upsetting. At that moment, I did not feel like a valued customer. No one called me that week to follow up on my experience, updates, or anything. I was fine with waiting a few days and understood that sometimes people have a bad day hence the broken frames but this was unacceptable. The next day Denise called, and suddenly the frames were at the shop. My guess is that another location had the frames and sent them over. Once again, Aurora helped shaped them. I looked them over before leaving the shopping complex and the lenses had scratches. I was really over this whole situation and regretted taking my initial pair in when I felt dizzy so I almost did not call to let them know that there was yet ANOTHER issue. I called anyway and Aurora asked me to bring them back to be replaced and she added a few things on as well for the inconvenience. I was given an additional case for these frames I guess to make me happy but it was never about the case as I already had one. I finally have my glasses and will admit the new upgraded lenses are great, but did not enjoy nor feel good after this situation. I understand that mistakes happen, but we should be able to communicate when we fall short. I think this flew under the radar a bit because I did not make a big fuss when the tech broke my frames and I am not sure if he reported this. If you decide to buy something here, make sure you speak up when something feels off or if you are not satisfied. read more

The staff is very unprofessional. I called 4 times to find out an estimated time for my glasses to arrive. The 4th time I called I was told it takes 3 to four weeks for the lenses to arrive. Had I been told that on the first call I would have not called 3 more times. When I did arrive to pick up my glasses I was forgotten until I noticed they were calling people that arrived after me. Then I heard a staff person say " she's the one who called a lot". So I guess they were punishing me for calling so much. read more

Ordered glasses for my daughter. They were supped to be ready in a week and a half it's been 2 weeks and they are still not ready. You would think that if you spend $688 on glasses they would give you a courtesy call, but no, why would they bother. There was no phone call or any other form of communication to notify of the delay. I called for status today and I'm told the glasses are still not ready. What upset me the most is that instead of being apologetic for the situation they blamed it on their supplier as if I did business with their supplier. It's not so much the delay, it is how they handle the situation. There is no reason why I should have to reach out to them when the order is already half a week late and hear excuses as to how they are not at fault. When I went there I explained that my daughters glasses were broken and I expressed that I would appreciate it if they put a rush on the order. Instead the glasses will be late an additional week. I blame myself, I should have gone to Lens crafters where they normally have the glasses ready in an hour. I went here for convenience which obviously backfired and turned into a huge inconvenience. Definitely learned my lesson from this one. What a disappointment!!! Update- The manager Aurora called to provide glasses in the interim- the prescription isn't exactly what it should be and doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it's the effort that counts. Doesn't quite make up for the situation but as I said it's the effort that matters. I appreciated that her concern was not about the rating as she didn't persuade me to change it, her concern appeared to be for my daughter. Aurora wanted to make sure that my daughter had a viable pair of glasses in the mean time while her glasses came in. Thank you for the effort and for the apology. I popped in on a Sunday am with out an appointment. I needed a full eye exam, and new glasses. My husband needed just an extra pair of glasses. We were taken right away. We were greeted by Toni. She helped us all the way thru. She was extremely helpful, in pricing and choosing what we were looking for. Full of patience, because I was trying in so many frames! Fran was not only extremely polite and helpful but also knowledgeable about the products readily available since I explained I could not leave without 1 of the 3 pairs because my daughter could not see without her glasses. I look forward to my yearly visits to Metro Optics Throggs Neck. One of their other stores is literally 3 blocks away from where I live but I choose to travel to the Throggs neck location bcause they make me feel at home and I always enjoy the experience leaving completely satisfied each and every time. The layout of the store is very open and bright, always clean and organized. The vibe is lively and extremely welcoming. The entire staff is exceptional, helpful and always courtesous. I would like to give an honorable mention to Vernice M. and also to Donna who go above and beyond. Year after year I come back and they both treat me like I'm their favorite customer. They're attentive, knowledgeable and super patient with me. I am very indecisive and I know I take them through it but that never effects how I am treated. I went in to this Eye Wear store on September 27th 2019, I had been there before, I thought they were expensive, but I liked the store. I had a plan in mind to get only what my Insurance covered. My insurance covers $300 per family member with free exam(which is pretty good). I choose a frame that was $129, but they charged $179 for Sun Poly and $199 for anti glare. That's $507 -$300 which is still expensive. I had 3 designer frames that I wanted to put my updated prescription in, knowing what I was getting the associate quoted $80 per frame which is ok not great but ok. When I went to pick up my new frame and order new lens for my old frames they wanted $450 for the three frames. A long way from the $180 it should have been. I said no thank you and left. I feel they tried to take advantage of me and I was not having it. A day later they called my wife and basically tried to bully her into changing her review. We are not writing a review to get a discount, when they should have done the right thing from the start. I do not recommend this place, they are not true to their word and act like we did something to them, beware people there are other places less expensive and pushy. And please don't call me I'm not interested in anything you guys have to say, there was no misunderstanding we understood fine what this was about, $$$. read more

I have been a client at this establishment for many many years and was always amazed by how wonderful and helpful the staff was. I recently went back to order contact lenses.Marcus was incredibly helpful, courteous and knowledgeable he is really an amazing young man. A week later I went in to purchase glasses. Marcus was busy so the young lady at the front desk asked Roman to help me. Roman was extremely apathetic, uninformed and rude. I asked to see a particular frame that I have purchased many times before. He didn't know where to find them and said they didn't have any. I told him they are behind the display. He didn't know there were glasses behind the display even though he works there. He showed me one pair I asked if they had another or a similar style as I wanted to purchase 2. He said no there were no others. I explained that there were more glasses behind the other display. He didn't know how to open the case and said he didn't see any, without looking. He stared blankly at me, didn't offer to show me anything in a similar style he was just really uninterested in providing any type of assistance. It was a very awkward interaction. Normally the staff would offer different options as they know the merchandise better than the customers. His demeanor was that of disinterest and it was unsettling. I decided just to get a copy of prescription and buy my glasses and contacts elsewhere. When I asked for a copy of my prescriptions at the front desk the young lady asked if I didn't want to purchase the glasses I explained what happened and she apologized she said if I would wait Marcus would help me. I told her thank you and stated Marcus had helped me previously and he was wonderful but Roman made me feel so uncomfortable I just wanted to leave. As I was leaving Denise approached me, I'm assuming the young lady told her what happened. Denise asked if she could help me I declined her offer. I explained that his demeanor was unsettling and I just wanted to leave. It's a shame because this establishment had always provided such excellent service. read more

The management lady is a joke. I waited three weeks for my new prescription glasses when they arrived I could not see out of them. I called on numerous occasions and was put on hold for a long time. The management lady argued with me to justify the wait. After receiving my glasses I could not see out of them and went back to explain what was going on. I waited again to see a tech who adjusted my glasses to my face. now I'm angrier than ever. I left and I'm headed to small claims court. Stay clear. I'm out a thousand dollars Lady management told me there's no refund on lenses. Go figure. read more
